Hey Ben, a quick comment about fox enclosures. Fox urine reeks, and might stress out nearby animals. Three parts water one part bleach will clear that up though. Additionally, red and arctic foxes will dig frequently and make deep holes in their enclosure. I do not know if you have done this, but I would recommend adding a layer of fencing horizontally at the base of the enclosure and then covering it with dirt so they cannot escape. I have worked for animal rehab for a couple of years, and have worked with foxes who do this. I have no idea if gray foxes do that too, but do whatever you see fit for your rehab. Hope this helps, and stay safe this fourth. @@horuos and I’m not sure if it’s his intention or just a regulation thing, but rocks make for good drainage and surface area. The urine smell should be lessened, and the rocks are easy to spray down

The foxes are adorable. I can tell it breaks your heart to have to desensitize them and set them free. You’re such a wonderful rescuer the way you provide a loving home to every animal. You’re contributions are commendable beyond words.

I get where you are coming from & I can feel your compassion. Thankfully though, Uncle Ben likely feels a great sense of accomplishment being able to rehabilitate the first foxes. Nothing like the feeling of the years and work he and everybody have devoted to reach this moment coming to fruition! It is understandably unknown to anybody unfamiliar with wild animal rehabilitation & release that the de-human-socialization process that Uncle Ben already started is what he has been working towards 🎵since the very beginning🎶. He is likely elated that the foxes, or kits (word for baby foxes 😍), are young enough so that they can still be rehabilitated. I predict Uncle Ben will be so happy when the foxes become self reliant and socialized wild to be released, that he will be cringe as he would say. 😆 He has made a center of wildlife rehab and can undo the mistakes of humans, though well intended, that would have debilitated the foxes of independence for their whole lives. It is also like the Ranch growing up as well!

While not the greatest example, there is the case of raising and releasing condor chicks (Andian Condors iirc), feeding them using a puppet so that they don't get much human interaction.

Glad there are no militant ARAs coming onto this channel and spreading hate because this man keeps animals penned up. They're penned up because they're injured or abandoned by their parents or otherwise in need of rehabilitation, and they are released if and when they are healed. But the PETA types don't care, because they don't actually care about animals. They just want attention because their parents didn't give them enough growing up.

Yesterday I was watching a animal science video about prairie dogs. There were several comments about Uncle Ben and Big Ounce. Mass confusion ensued about how a prairie dog saved so many lives and committed international war crimes. Finally someone explained and linked Bens page but us Big Ounce Fans were getting a laugh at the questions bout what does rice have to do with prairie dogs. I did learn the yahoo Big Ounce does is part of complex language they use to signal activity, when predators are around and communicating with members of their family.
