your version of heaven doesn’t correlate with ANY religion ever created. Dime and Vin aren’t seeing each other in heaven but you can say that to make yourself feel happier if you’d like, it’s hard to face the truth in this life.

My Vinnie experience goes like this... June 8th 2018 my wife and i are on a red eye from Vegas to Dallas. As we board a booked flight we both noticed the guy in the cowboy hat with his head down crashed out sleeping behind our seats. I gave it no mind but once we were comfy my wife turns to me and says" i think the guy behind us is in a band" . I try to peek without being obvious and the only thing i noticed was his head down and an older model iphone next to him. I turned back to my wife and said i dont think anyone famous would have an iphone that old babe lol. So we land , i stand up to claim our bags out of the overhead ,look over and HOLY SHIT Vinnie Paul is standing next to me! I couldnt speak! My wife says " Vinnie"?he nods "my husband is a huge fan " he extends his hand for a shake and tells me its always cool to meet a fan...i still couldnt fukn speak! I didnt want to be the starstruck fan bombarding him, so i played it cool and thought hey if i can stay in front of him i can sneak some pics to prove i just met Vinnie fucking Paul on an airplane. So boom they open the doors and were out . I'm instantly popping pics with him laughing behind me. He says "Hey , wouldnt it be easier to ask for a pic?" I still couldnt speak lol! My wife says he would absolutely love that. He says on one condition, when ppl ask who is that? you make sure to tell them its not Billy Gibbons from ZZtop. He took pics with me and my wife and thats a memory that will always stay with us. Pantera helped me find my way as a kid , i still play their stuff on the regular. Hellyeah, and Damageplan were great but nothing like Pantera so meeting him was an awesome experience. R.I.P. Vinnie youre a stand up guy and i just want to say thank you for making me feel like a kid again brother

That is a cool story, sounds like just a regular guy, Down to Earth and not at all displaying his Fame and wealth and one of those; "Do you know who I am" or I DON'T DO PICTURES OR AUTOGRAPHS type of rock stars. I wasn't necessarily a fan of Pantera, n it just wasn't my style, I grew up listening to Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and other hard rock bands, even a huge fan of Stevie Ray V from Texas ,the blues Man himself. when Pantera came out I just thought they sounded like Megadeth, just another copy cat sound of another band, plus the whole grunge thing was going on ,I didn't get to hear or see them very often, that's just my opinion. Then one day I happened to be watching MTV, and I couldn't believe the way Dimebag died... on stage playing, horrible way to die. Then his brother to die later is just unbelievable. to this day I don't know how he died, but either way, for two young kids from Texas to dedicate themselves at a very young age to music,j and the idea of forming their own metal band when they grow up, and making that dream come true, is a story I can only dream of, like many others, and to connect with so many people and affect their lives in a positive way, I give them great respect for that and God knows, I hope they are both at peace.

Can I just say this is such a beautiful comment. That Quincy Jones quote: “I learned a long time ago, your music can never be more or less than you are as a human being” really means something here. I love that he made time for you, dude had so much respect for all the people around the world who meant they could do what they loved for a living. He was so gracious to me, even when I was just starting out with this. Dude always gave me the time of day. These little moments with other humans? They're everything man. Beyond the songs these moments of grace are what he really left behind.

I dont really agree on that, what makes Pantera so amazing is that they as a whole made the music work. Rex, Dime and Vinnie created art - along with one of the best singer of all time. Fact is that Rex knew music, he was the only educated musician so I think Rex was the backbone.

But the bigger part of me is beyond words with happiness that he gets to be with his brother again after all these years. I couldn’t imagine a single day without mine. And this time they get to be together eternally. Thank god for what little time they had on earth to grace us with such an unbelievable gift of music. For some strange reason, I only made it to two Pantera concerts even tough I was a hard core fan. They did NOT disappoint. As life goes, I made less and less concerts in general because I worked too much. A friend of mine bought me tickets for an early Christmas present to see Crossthread and Damageplan on December 8. I didn't want to draw too much attention to him so I didn't ask for a photo, simply a handshake and thanks for all the music. He was really gracious with his time. Me and my friend were dressed in fairly non-metal attire so he didn't realise we were fans until we started talking. After he ordered he looked at me and just said 'Order up, man' in his awesome Texas accent. Really kind of Vinnie to take a little time to chat and the show was amazing. He will be missed.

Great interviews. I live about 90 miles east of Dallas so I go there for my good time and have since the 90's. I was also lucky enough to get to meet and party with Dime and Vinny a couple of times. Unforgettable times.

Brilliant Christina. RIP VINNIE AND DIMEBAG DARRELL 🤘 Seen them live few times at barrowlands glasgow in 90s. Absolutely love Pantera and miss them. Still think they shouldve got more recognition than they did then and even more now. Thank fuck for Pantera in the early 90s. 🍻🍺🤘

My first concert was Pantera on the vulgar display of power tour! I was 14 my mom dropped me and my best friend off downtown Indianapolis we went to Murat Temple and I was never the same again! It drove me to be the musician and person I am today!

Clint Mullins yes sir I did and they always had one hell of a crowd! Buncha ruff sons of bitches that didn’t give a fuck about no PC shit like they do these days! If our generation as teenagers met with this generation of teenagers man we’d beat their fucking brains in for being a buncha pussies worried about their feelings! Pantera teach’ed us to not give a damn what other people thought or said and if they messed around they catch a boot upside the skull in the mosh pit 🤣

Thanks for doing these interviews and putting this piece together. I loved Pantera and Hellyeah and now Pantera is actually done forever. Always thought if 1 of the Abbott boys were still rockin', there might be a chance of a reunion. Now the band only lives through these types of videos.

That was a great tribute video Christina! Especially liked the final minute or so. Vinnie saying he would be fine if Hellyeah was the last band he'd play in and that the music he made with Pantera, Damageplan and Hellyeah will continue to embrace people long after they are gone feels so eerie but so beautiful knowing he's gone now.
