7 жыл бұрынHello and welcome to the Whoniverse in this video I will be looking at the history of the Sontarans. As part of my History of Doctor Who series as suggested by you. The Sontarans are a race that craves war and destruction and possess possibly the greatest understanding of conflict and in their view honour. So the race of Potato look a like soldiers who enjoy war also known as Sontarans - This is the story of their entire history as we 'know' it, from their emergence as a clone race through to their last known activities.

NOTE - Some images are not from the episode or moment in Sontaran History I am talking about due to a large part of sontaran History spoken through exposition or shown in media which doesn't have any matching images. It shouldn't be a huge inconvenience but I felt I should let you all know.

You gotta hand it to ‘em, the Sontarans have balls of steel. They literally _wanted_ to be in the most horrific war in Reality 😂😂😂 Also, they fought an intergalactic powerhouse with nothing more than a couple of cloning-pods and a couple of guns

The Doctor it isn’t a police box originally though. He meant like the weirdest spacecraft made to look like that. Sontarians chose to do that but doctor had it stuck

When you talked about the probic vent and the idea of Sontarans being part technology gave me an awesome idea imagine a cyberman sontaran hybrid!

Cyber Dan that's a really interesting idea! Other than those of a humanoid appearence Mondasians, Humans I don't think any other races have become cybermen other than in a comic where the Silurians where transformed into partial cybermen. 12:05 that was a great plan, except for it would utterly fail and do almost nothing. The nuclear powerplants are designed to take a plane crash and survive afterall, plus them being rammed doesnt cause any explosions, it wouldnt have been a planet destroyer.

The Sontarans in the old series never used to say “Sontar-Ha” I find it annoying I don't know why Russel T Davies decided to create this new catchphrase for bringing back the Sontarans

Sontarans are great and I love Strax but i'm not meant to love strax. A classic monster and enemy of the doctor shouldn't be comic relief. Once again with the writing, a classic monster is just not scary.

You have lots of informative narration. However, it isn't an easy listen. You seem to stumble over every other sentence and some words seem as if you've never read them before. Do you narrate as soon as you've written the script? Better to get a few paragraphs spot on and record peacemeal until you have the complete narration. Sorry to be so critcal but a fresh mic would also help.

1. depends entirely on the writer handling them (if a writer loves the cybermen or sontarans, they will portray them greatly and with much respect... like RTD's over-obsession with Daleks, in an extreme sense...) 2. Children were taken more seriously back in the old days in that they were allowed to be 'scared' and shown 'mature' material (but not in an abusive or immoral way), what i mean is, the breif scene where the cybermen mercilessly crush the guys hands in the 80's, or the Sontaran ruthlessly murdering those astronauts in 75's "the sontaran experiment"

Gallifrey was "destroyed" when Doctor Who was not on TV in between 1989 and 2005 as part of the Time war. The events of the Time war are shown in the 50th anniversary special Day of the Doctor in 2013. In the seasons from 1963 - 1989 however Gallifrey is still intact with Time Lords sending the Doctor missions and the Doctor visiting his home planet from time to time.

Hi Captain Kiwi thanks for posting two negative comments on one video in the space of 5 mins that must be a new record 😂 I know my audio years ago wasn't great and I struggled with my confidence a lot more back then too. Thanks for watching the video and hopefully I won't be that "lazy" again in the future. Just know there is a difference between constructive criticism and just insulting someone and their work, imagine if I was to say how you should have refilmed your matching band stuff because the cameras pointed at the sky or not on a tripod. It would be horrible and not appreciating the hard work those in front of the camera put in rehearsing and the work you put in to film them. Be kind - it's not that hard.

By the time of strax the sontarans are supposed to have 4 fingers and a thumb Strax still has only 2 fingers and a thumb meaning you are inaccurate or he is a genetic throw back

The process of the sontarans having a different amount of fingers was set in the timeline before Strax's timeline as you said however the idea of the different amount of fingers was written/created after the episodes featuring stax where broadcast. So to my knowledge like a lot of Doctor Who new pieces of info and lore are added by spin off media, a large amount contradicting itself. It is a good point you have raised! Hi robert!!! I think maybe the 11th Doctor helped Strax back when Sontarans had 2 fingers and a thumb when he was demoted to a nurse for siding with the Doctor. He was dropped of by the Doctor in the future post Sontaran evoloution to help in the battle mentioned in the video. Meaning he may be the only sontaran in the "future" with 2 fingers and 1 thumb! The Doctor had met evryone he assembled in his team previous to the battle of demons run so it's only likely he met Strax before then! 😄 Just a theory of mine🙂☺

Thanks to you both I have been a life long fan of Doctor Who both classic and modern and never knew the full history of the Sontarans its just that you first mentioned Strax's time line post evaluation so I just presumed he was cloned in that time line as the doctor could grab people from past present and future
