"I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum." Fun Fact: Roddy Piper, being a married man at the time of filming, refused to take his wedding band off. That's why in several scenes you can see a wedding ring on. They Bubblegum Fact: The "bubblegum" line was (sorta) ad-libbed by Roddy Piper. According to director John Carpenter, Piper had previously written the line in his notebook of potential verbal bits during his wrestling career. He shared the notebook with Carpenter, and they agreed that this particular line fit the character and the film perfectly. Piper went on to use it at a wrestling match. They Fight Fact: The big fight sequence was designed, rehearsed and choreographed in the back-yard of director John Carpenter's production office. The fight between Nada (Roddy Piper) and Frank (Keith David) was only supposed to last twenty seconds, but Piper and David decided to fight it out for real, only faking the hits to the face and groin. They rehearsed the fight for three weeks. Carpenter was so impressed he kept the scene intact, which runs five minutes, twenty seconds.

I love this movie. If I remember correctly, the fist fight was actually somewhat real. They threw real punches and took real hits for the most part. They only faked a couple hits like face blows and groin attacks. They rehearsed the fight for three weeks. It was supposed to last like 20 seconds, but Carpenter was so impressed with the fight that he kept the whole 5 minutes in.

Additionally the studio asked him to reedit the fight because it was so long in the work print. Carpenter said, "no problem" and then reedited it to be _longer_ 'cause he's a gangster.

The scary part of this movie is how real and relevant it is today. They may not be aliens but this shit is happening now. Social media is the most powerful weapon in the world. Everywhere you look in society, whether it’s on the bus, in restaurants, stores, public parks, everywhere you see everybody with their face buried into their phones and sormtimez taking selfies to post where they are and what they are doing. If you see between the lines you will see how relevant this movie is and again in reality it’s scary as fook.

What's sad is the human power elite have been this way since civilization began, but some people are so worked up over conspiracy theories, they'll indulge in fantasies while the 0.01% pull the wool over everyone else's eyes and make them hate each other so they can stay in power. Wealth is a disease.

Yes, the "Chew Bubblegum and Kick Ass" is originated from this movie. The line was originally something Roddy came up with for some random promos and when John Carpenter asked Roddy to come up with something to say in this scene, he used that one. Also, the fight scene was originally gonna be shorter, but Carpenter loved it so much that he made it longer. It's a social commentary movie, especially about the Ronald Reagan-era. In the 80's everybody was doing coke =P

This movie was pulled from theaters 10 days after it was released and lost their distribution deal. See, it's not just Ye

I wanted to suggest a movie called Ready to Rumble. It was made in the year 2000 staring David Marquette, Oliver Patt and Scott Cann. And also staring some old school wrestlers like Diamond Dallas Page, Bam Bam Bigalo, Booker T, Bill Goldberg and a few others I can't remember right now but it's a great comedy movie. Oh an Rey Mysterio makes a appearance without his mask
