Some context to the battle Aiden was talking about for those interested, he was talking about the Anzac landing in Gallipoli although there were relatively few casualties on the Australian new Zealand side they reached a stale mate and eventually evacuated the beaches making almost no advancement.

Another cool fact about the Gallipoli evacuation was that the ANZACS used buckets and dripping water to make time delayed gun shots to give the illusion that there were more soldiers than there actually wad while they were escaping

Some more context, in Australia every year at school we learnt about it. It also probably the only battle of WW1 and 2 most Australians know about even though, Australia and New Zealand were in numerous.

Agreed, but I also think it's just because they actually said he was gone. When the others were gone, they joked that the guest was the replacement the whole time. In the previous episode, they just said he was tied in the corner the whole time

i dont know how i missed the NZ meetup, rip. the description of the Galipoli exhibit in Te Papa (the museum in Wellington) is 100% accurate. NZ doesn't have a huge amount of notable history, something a New Zealander might get mad at me for saying, so its very fixated on what *did* happen. there's a huge patriotic streak for WWI and II in particular. like, fundraisers to this day with poppies for WWI
