I'm 22, a lesson I learned (still learning) is that "fun" is subjective. "Fun" doesn't have to mean going out to party or drink or you know 'be wild' not that I have any issues with this but I feel society has kinda structured youthful fun to mean ONLY this. Fun can be quiet, fun can mean enjoying calm time with a book. Fun is what YOU make it!

This is how I feel about New Years Eve. For years, that holiday was such a drag to me. I always thought, "I should be going hard partying tonight cuz everyone else is! 😭" Not true. I had all those miserable New Years being cozy at home eating cookies. What a waste of time that FOMO was.

the biggest lesson I’ve learned in my 20’s was that if someone wanted to, they would. this was hard to acknowledge but it’s been freeing to accept it! it applies to so many situations and I’ve found it to hold very true.

I'll be 30 in a few months and I really resonated with your 20s not being the prime. Society forces this idea upon women that your life ends after 25. I felt so rushed to have a stable career, long-term relationship, etc, and I felt like I'd be ugly and unwanted in every aspect of life after that so-called "peak". But now I'd say I'm a lot more confident in myself as a person and I'm really looking forward to my 30s!

@@feyrie im barely 22, but these comments are so refreshing bc i honestly agree. i always felt like the people my age are accomplishing life so quickly: moving out, having kids, graduating school, working a real career, getting married, traveling. i always thought this is what being 20 was about, but honestly being 20 is so young, thats why 40+ year olds look back at us and still view us as kids who have our whole lives still ahead of us. im still feeling lost most days and figuring things out, my path is slower and thats okay, im learning life isn't a competition or a rush to an imaginary finish line. most people i know cant even move out even in their mid 20's due to paying for school, car bills, working part time minimum wage jobs that wont support rent here in cali (its so expensive!)

I’m 20 and the “stop trying to change people” lesson really resonated with me. As an overthinker I tend to always try to understand why someone thinks a certain way. I like to be open and have a conversation about it because “communication is key” (I personally think that understanding is key but that’s another story) but I find it to be very mentally draining now for some reason, so instead of trying to understand why someone acted a certain way or said something that I wouldn’t say, I just leave it as it is.

Reading through your comment, I was like "YES this is IT" and then your last sentence hit me so hard. I'm a 27yo overthinker and am always spending all my energy on understanding others and their feelings and actions, and it is truly draining. It is important to make an effort in understanding other people, yes, but you are right: there should be a limit. There needs to be. And it is something I have recently tried to practice, making this boundary clearer for myself and sometimes just leave things as they are - and goodness, does it free up mental and emotional space!

Man I'm glad I'm not the only one dealing with this. I'm a pretty empathetic person, but ofc some stuff I'm just not going to agree with and I'm learning it's okay to not have to consume those things just for the sake of always trying to understand others. At the same time, any time I consider just walking away a voice in my head also tells me that I'm not "standing up for myself / what I believe in" and I'm like ahh I should engage in this. It's hard to balance

I’m 27 and one of the biggest lessons I have learnt is that the blessing i.e. the job or love or success isn’t as important as the journey of getting them. I had moments where I was angry that I didn’t get certain things at the time I wanted them .. but I realize the true appreciation comes from the right journey and timing.

Jenn, I started following you when I was 16 and you were in your early 20s, so I saw you grow into the wonderful woman you are today. I’m 26 now, and I’m still here and I’m so proud to see how reflective you are, and self aware you are. As a Person In Her 20s I’ve spent a lot of my time in my 20s as a hot mess, but not in the same way you were. I’ve spent a lot of my time worried about taking risks, worried I’m wasting my life, worried I’m running out of time to do everything I love before I keel over and die even though I literally have a whole life ahead of me. I’ve gone through so many ideas of what I wanted to do with my life and now I’m in a “fuck it I have no idea” phase. Existential crisis after existential crisis, mental breakdown after mental breakdown. But one thing I do know: I want to do something that I’m passionate about, and that makes an impact. I want to end my life knowing I’ve made a difference to something. What that is? I don’t know. Is it creative? Systematic? Did I tell someone they’re beautiful today? Who knows?! But right now I’m focussing on myself, getting healthier, mentally and physically. Using lockdown to my advantage. Thank you for your ongoing honestly, Jenn. Thank you for inspiring me for over 10 years.

It was a very comforting video tbh. I'm 26 and I really thought that you have to have your whole figured out before your 30s. Like you have to be educated, have a job, a husband, a house, and ideally, a baby as well. Now as I'm getting older I still feel that pressure (especially because of my family) but I learn to live at my own pace. And if I look back, I think that 20s should be focused on looking for yourself - get to know yourself, develop, learn, grow, seek, try different things etc :) LIVE on your own terms.

I feel exactly the same at 22 and it doesn't help that my parents are questioning, criticizing and diminishing my efforts to be more independent and adult and accomplished. I felt like I was living a life for others, couldn’t be true self all the time. I regretted a lot about this. Because as I’ve gotten older, I realized most of people don’t care about you as much as you think and myself is the one who suffer the lost which I shouldn’t have most. So I wish I could tell my 20’s “Don’t care about other’s opinion too much! Try hard to live “real you” as much as you can! Because you’re unique and precious just yourself! I love how candid this was, and admitted that you had "bad" qualities like trying to change people etc. I also love that with brain experience comes confidence, along with learning that confidence is so much more than how you look. If you are confident in your actions, what you look like is such an afterthought because you also don't place appearance as a high value in others.

Yes to focusing on the responsibilities that we have now! It's always best to focus on ourselves and to continue to improve at our own pace. Life is NOT a competition! Yes to positive self-talk. Self-love is the best kind of love.

Omg I love those throwback photos in your opening clip! 😍 Girl, I have to say, you're striving in your 30s because you took so much away from your 20s. I admire a strong person like you who learns from their experiences instead of regretting them ❤ My biggest lesson is not everything needs to happen in my 20s. I had a difficult time getting back into the school/college mode. Once I graduated in my later 20s I was so proud of myself. It was hard getting there because I felt like I needed to graduate in my early 20s and have an amazing job right away, like everyone else. It was so intimidating being the oldest person amongst teenagers and younger people but I did it. I graduated college and now I've got an amazing job as an engineer 🥰

Thank you Jen for reminding me that your 20s are supposed to be a bit messy and it’s ok to not have everything together. I’m 21 and already feel like I’m missing out on loads of experiences and theres also pressure to have a great career and relationship etc. There’s always time for these things. To everyone in their 20s - enjoy these years for what they are and it’ll be ok in the end😊

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and advice! I always feel so much better after watching your videos :)

love these tips so so much!! honestly loving my 20s a ton (except for the fact that an undetermined amount of it will be spent in lockdown 😀) and I really felt like I've finally started to grow into myself!! But the affirmation aspect is soooooo key. Such a complex process to untangle but I love the idea of writing affirmations about myself daily!! Definitely going to implement that. This video couldn't have come at a more perfect tiime :') 💖

I'm 23 & i've recently been feeling a little lost in terms of what my passions are. Most times, I catch myself thinking about how i'm not doing enough (especially when there are people around me who seems like they have it all figured out). I've lost some good friends along the way too, ones that I thought would be lifelong. I think it unexpectedly left a hole of loneliness in me because somehow, it seems so hard to make new friends at this age where most people have a solid group of friends already, you know? But as I was watching this video, I caught myself smiling a lot! And hearing your words really helped me clear up the fogginess in my head. I finally stopped and told myself, "You know what? It's okay". I know I still have that fear in me, but I believe that things will fall into place, as long as I promise myself to live in the moment. So thank you for this! I've always admired your wisdom & intelligence, besides your creativity & optimism in life. Wishing you nothing but the best with your future endeavours! ❤️

I’m 29 - the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that what we want when we are 20 may not be what we want when we are older. It’s not a reflection of our failures or anything negative, but people change. I would tell my younger self that it’s okay to not want the same things and that she is intelligent and will make the right decisions. This is something I still have to tell myself! You all are amazing and got this. Whatever you’re going through will pass - it might not happen overnight but you will see through the storm.

I am so emotional watching this. I’m 23, have a year left of college. Going through a really difficult and uncomfortable time in my life. I’m dealing with a pretty bad heartbreak because it’s the first real and healthy relationship I’ve been in. I thought this was it. But life put us in different paths and he doesn’t think a relationship is good for him right now because he has a lot to work on as a man. He said he can’t make someone else happy if he isn’t. We cut ties. So now I’m having to rewire my brain and life to not be codependent, live for myself, put all the love I give to others into myself, and truly know what it’s like to be independent. This journey is so hard.. but I know it’ll be worth it

Great words of wisdom Jen! As someone who already passed their 20s and just left my 30s, life gets a lot more simpler and focused. I became a mom at 30 as well, and I think it was the perfect age for me to enter motherhood. My 20s were me being curious of the world, dating different nationalities, changing jobs often, quitting jobs to pursue passions, and partying but also failing a lot, feeling insecure about my lack of career direction, being unstable, etc. However, I feel like I got to live my life at its fullest in my 20s. Such a great time! Thank you for this lovely video :)

This is really great Jenn! I love how you’re being enthusiastically telling us all these points and it hits me right in the heart. I have been struggling to make a daily journal, I’ve read a lot that it will help you to affirm yourself, to remind yourself for a better change, to reflect yourself. But in fact, I guess I’m not that quite organized person it seems hard for me to do that. This video definitely was affirming me to do it again, harder this time! I’m tired of trying to get outsider / external validation. This is the time for a change! Thank you 🤍
