I Remember I used to make a bunch a different “chibi” animals out of a circle, which is how I found what I like to call “chubby waffle bunnie” and I still doodle it in my sketch book and on my school work to this day lol.

I did the EXACT same thing. I would always give them little angle wings tho lol (the kind that isn't attached to the body but curls in itself but you know it actually is attached, it's just a stylistic choice)

If you don't like the way your art is, try this: stare at your art and make a pro and con list. (I'd probably make it in your head) I learned to love my art after doing this, because I not only got to see what I needed to improve, but what's great about it.

This video and one of the newest Ba Da Bean episodes have saved me from art block ❤ tysm Waffles! (The episode's name is "Blocked" and I love the way it represents how it feels to struggle with art block, by representing it as a super annoying block character who just breaks into artists' houses)

Something I like to do when I have art block is to go back through my camera roll and just scroll through until I see a person or object or scene that stands out to me! You can draw it using the photo as a reference, or just use it as a jumping off point. I love it because I take pictures of things that I love and those are the things that can be the biggest inspiration to you! Hope this helps another young artist 💚

Art has always been a huge part of my life and I used to draw all the time but hit a bit a of plateau with my skill level and I fell out of the habit as I started in college and graduate school. But I stumbled across your channel in the last few weeks and watching how you approach art has quickly inspired me to get back into drawing and doing art. The narration of your process and the way you talk through your mistakes and your victories has been so refreshing. I love the philosophy you take and how you’re always dedicated to improving your skills and not just focusing everything on making a “perfect” final product. You’ve really changed my mindset on what art needs to be, and now I’m rediscovering my love for the fun of art. Thank you, Rin!

I would reccomend picking a random or color you like and sketching with it, maybe making a silhouette of something you like and then doing lineart. Coloring before lineart, even if it's only one color, gives a whole new freedom to how you perceive the shapes on your drawing.

You legit posted when i just opened my sketchbook after trying to comeup with a idea for 3 hrs..i was thinking of drawing characters based on life-stages-birth,her going to college,getting a part-time job etc and seeing the character build. Hey, waffles! so in the past couple of years, I have had this obsession with drawing. and tbh you are the reason! one day when I was younger I was on my dad's tablet and I came across some of your videos! I was obsessed with trying to draw just like you. I really want to thank you for the videos you made back then. They made me realize that no matter what anybody said about my drawing style it was mine! and yes, it has changed over time but when I look back at your old sketchbook videos I'm filled with this sweet nostalgia. I like to prepare for these times so this is what I do When I start a brand new sketch book I write down Ideas challenges ect Then when I get artblock I look back to the ideas and draw what I like!! If I don't feel like drawing anything in the list I go on Pinterest Hope this helped

When you pulled out FRUIT PINK to colour the YELLOW I gasped! I thought I was the only one who had a fruit pink marker that was yellow 😳 When I first got it it was so pink but now it’s just… YELLOW 😤 Btw those blob animals are so adorable 🥰

The flowers morphed into bicycle wheels, and then some of them became fan blades. The animals became characters with names for a story for my great, great nephew, (yes I am that old) I too like a square neckline, although I hated wearing dresses when I was young and I don't choose them now very often. I love listening to you as you work and it is a terrible shame if you are not a illustrator for children's books. Thank you for sharing your time and talents.

I have a notepad with art ideas and\or words. So like "a fairy sitting on the brim of a witches hat", "fairy and sugar skull", and "fairy on pumpkin"....I have a lot of fairy ideas! 😂😂 Oh, but I really like the blob animals, gonna have to write it down! 😉

I like doing abstract drawings when I'm bored aka doodling. Just making lines and letting the pen go where it wants and using my instincts and eye to decide where another line should go. Then you embellish this and that, add textures, hatching, etc. The more intricate it becomes, the more impressive it looks.

I have another which may work......btw these tricks are for traditional artists.....idk if it will work for digital artists..... hold the middle of ur pencil with ur index and thumb, make it play see saw on a paper.....after this u will have some random dots on ur paper, join them and then think about what the figure looks like, add details according to what you see If u r travelling and u want to draw, keep a book in front of u and hold a pencil lightly on the paper, dont control it......as u travel ur pencil will move and make some random figures......again add details according to what u see. Hope this helps

Hey, Rin!! When you started drawing the corn character it reminded me of an assignment I’m currently working on which is making characters out of fast food and I decided to make a boy band haha - thought I’d mention it because it seems like a prompt you’d make some amazing oc’s out of!! Making bands is really fun, I think you’d design some awesome outfits! The videos where you design characters based off food or candy are always so good.

i’m a bit late to this and i honestly don’t expect you to see this but, i just want to say: i used to love drawing but then quit due to negative feedback from friends. ever since i found your channel in february you’ve inspired me so much to keep drawing so maybe i could become as talented as you are. your channel is so fun and entertaining to me and soooo many other people based off of all the comments i’ve seen. thank you so much for being so inspiring and totally awesome.

Keep drawing! I've struggled with this as well and the evidence is in the many a crumpled up papers and torn up sketch books before I realized that I'm the only one seeing this unless I choose to show someone! It doesn't have to be perfect!

WHAT #1 why would you're FRIENDS do that. And #2 Art is about expressing yourself in any way you would like, so I hate when people are ashamed of their art because they tend to look through other people's eyes to look at their art, and see mush, when instead they could look at it truly through their own eyes and see beautiful, imperfect, and pleasing art that gives them joy and opens new worlds of creativity and happiness!!

it appears that im not the only one with art block! i do find that when im in the mood, trying to draw objects in a photo or around you, but only sketching the outline of it and then coloring the negative space (or "background") can be fun!
