Andrew, this Yoga Gen6 has 4 speakers (2 bottom + 2 up to the sides of the keyboard), not only 2, as you mentioned in the video. It's one of the best ThinkPads in terms of sound right now (Older ones were mediocre at best)

It was time to finally upgrade from my refurbished Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen2. I got this one, have to thank you for your reviews! I confirm all that you said, it's wonderful! Excellent performance, gorgeous display and colors on it, the battery is lasting! Running on Void Linux, no drivers issues, no issues with screen resolutions. Got it for around 1120 USD (including taxes there) Lenovo did it again!

i have two specific questions, how do the speakers compare to a macbook air / pro. Also do you think the 1920x1600 is enough or should i go with the 4k?

Nice PC. Web cam is fair. These manufacturers are forcing people to choose from a mediocre class of Web Cams (720P). Mic is okay but not great. Display is nice. 16x10 aspect ratio is good but I think a 3x2 aspect ratio is even better. When you think about the privacy mode most people will use it for spreadsheets and documents and other software and will not care if display quality is compromised for these tasks. When web browsing, watching videos, movies etc. where the better display is preferable then the privacy mode will probably be turned off since they will not care who is watching them for these tasks. Like the easy access to the inside although limited things to upgrade but easy to replace battery if need be. Great review.

For a 720p webcam, I must say the quality is very impressive Andrew! I thought it was a 1080p webcam at first. The internal mic while not the best, not bad either and it will get the job done. This laptop from Lenovo seems to be a winner in my book that won't break the bank at a starting price of $1099!! Excellent work as always Andrew!!! 👍😁

I’ve got the machine and I can tell you it’s very *not * impressive in real life. Don’t know how but personally I feel my 6 year old yoga 12 has a better cam.

Thanks or the review, I got a brand new X1 Gen 6, I noticed the opposite regarding battery life, on browsing, it doesn't last more than 5 hours. is it just my piece?

I hope the Gen7 version brings a 3rd Thunderbolt4 port on the right side, a 1080p webcam, better mics, slightly thicker pen, and cut the weight by 1/2 lbs. That would make it the perfect laptop.

The problem with the Gen 7 is battery life. The Intel gen 12 cpu is a slight bit more powerful but a battery hog. That is a big fail imo. It does have a 1080p webcam but the weight is the same. I just bought the X1 Yoga Gen 6 over the Gen 7 for 2 reasons: 1. Battery life. 2. Cost - the Gen 6 with Intel I7 G7 CPU/16Gb RAM/1Tb HD/400 NIT Display was $1,150 Black Friday special. Same configuration in the X1 Yoga Gen 7 but with the 12 Gen Intel CPU (meaning less battery life) was about $2,000. No way is it worth almost a $900 upcharge. Plus the battery life is a step backwards in the latest Intel CPU imo.

@@treydrier3169 Thanks for your feedback. I just bought the Gen7 for $1450 on Black Friday. Intel i7 non-vPro, 16GB, 256GB (gonna upgrade to 1TB myself for half the price), OLED 500nits. I can't speak about the battery life yet compared to the Gen6 but haven't seen/heard anything negative about battery life on the Gen7. I'm sure the screen type (FHD vs OLED) will impact the battery. Let's see how it does...

Thanks Andrew for another great review. I just have a question that maybe you can only answer as I didn't find the answer anywhere. I have been using this Yoga X1 Gen6 for the last 3 months and it replaced my Yoga 910 from 2006 with intel 7th Gen i7. Why is my yoga 910 much smoother and faster than this X1 Yoga with exactly same cofig as yours? Bootup time and especially multi tasking during a zoom call, this laptop lags a lot. I did whatever I could to boost speed and nothing worked, the only thing that improved performace was when I swapped the ssd to ssd nmve 4th gen on yoga X1. But the speed and performance and multi tasking even lags behind another Yoga 9i I bought for a friend. Do you have an idea?

Assuming you've done the usual updates including bios updates, then I would assume you have a dud. I've been using the x1 yoga gen6 for about 6 months and no lagging. Its not perfect, but no issues with lagging or performance on usual multitasking process. Whether zoom goes smoothly will depend on your WiFi of course.

@@ubermod5564 thanks for the reply Joseph. yes I updated BIOS and all drivers. I don't think it's a dud as this is the second one I got from Lenovo. the 1st one was the same. I believe it is either the Yoga 9i series (including my old Yoga 910) that are very smooth and fast, or it is the power management of this model because it is laggy and slow when it is on battery saver mode. thanks again

I had to return mine after a month due to its heavy weight and subpar keyboard. They sure don't make (IBM) ThinkPads like they used to. Going to try the Nano next, if that doesn't work then I'm giving up on ThinkPads altogether. Notice Best Buy don't even have ThinkPads on display anymore.

was the keyboard really that bad? Why do you think Nano would do better? It's probably shallower and more cramped. I got used to MBA 2020 too, currently rocking X1 Carbon Gen 5, will go ahead either with Yoga or Carbon 9. MBA is even slightly heavier and still ok in my opinion. Carbon is lighter for sure.

@@kokos1920 just got my Nano today as a matter of fact, same shallow keyboard but feels softer and less stiff to type on than Yoga, and it surprisingly doesn't feel cramped. It's missing some keys but I can live with that. It only has 2 ports, but I would rather carry dongle adapters than a heavy laptop with all the ports. The touchscreen looks plenty bright at 50% brightness and perfectly sharp and hi-res at 125% scale. I think this one is a keeper and worthy of the ThinkPad name.

@@papagen00 Thx for the perspective. I am planning to order Nano and Yoga to see for myself. I'll return what I don't like. Carbon 9 is rarely in stock, but I am also hesitant as some people are just extremely dissapointed by the keyboard.

@@papagen00 might gonna try it as well. Got X1C9 and it's a huge disappointment. It feels like they sucked out life from the keyboard. I would like higher res and touch at this price point. Audio is so-so. Thermals not bad but I feel the heat while having it on my lap. I'll maybe try T14. Wanted yoga because of pen and touch and format. You're getting more value for the money. For the price of X1C9 I can get brand new MacBook Pro 14 with everything excellent, including much better keyboard.

Webcam is horrible, it is just like 1990 camera (pics and video) I dont know what is problem. also the sound comes out from the back speakers not the ones on the left and right of the keyboard
