I used and am currently using your kindergarten and 1st grade math books for my daughters. I’m about to start the second grade math for my 6 years old who just finished her 1st grade math with MWC. I really like your recommendations for picture books because I don’t need to spend extra time to look for those in the library. That’s a great addition for enrichment study. Thank you for your hard work❤

Can’t wait to try your curriculum! It’s been ordered and shipped. Level 2! I think this will be great for us.

I LOVE the memory work addition! Please keep that with the remaining books to be released. I’d love to see an assessment book similar to how Math U See does it for the grades 4-6 books. I’m not sure if that’s been considered, but I thought I’d throw it out there.

Hi Kate! Question. If I have 3 kids that are all in different MWC levels, about how long would it take to teach all 3? I would have one in 4th, 3rd, and 1st. Wondering if it would be too much on teacher, me, to have all 3 in MWC.

At what age is this appropriate to start? I saw a flip-through of Student Workbook 3A and I believe it's right on with where my son is at---and unfortunately, I purchased 2nd grade back in May because I saw some "gaps"/non-spiral approach to what we'd been using. I think I could possibly start him right now with 3A. Trying to use as much of 2nd grade as possible though because of the gaps.

Take a look at the overview article for the list of prerequisite skills. (It's about halfway down this page: kateshomeschoolmath.com/third-grade-math-with-confidence/) The most important skills are knowing the addition and math facts, and being able to solve written multi-digit addition and subtraction problems.

I have a question. I’m thinking about switching my math to Math with Confidence Third Grade and am wondering does my child need to just start that or do we need to master his addition and subtraction facts first using the books Addition Facts That Stick and Subtraction Facts that Stick??

The addition facts and subtraction facts are covered in First and Second Grade Math with Confidence. There's some brief review at the beginning of Third Grade MWC, but then the book dives into more-challenging material. If your child doesn't already know the addition and subtraction facts well, I'd definitely recommend spending some time teaching them to your kids before tackling Third Grade MWC. The lessons go much more smoothly and and quickly once kids aren't spending so much energy on addition and subtraction. Happy Math!

In your expert opinion would this be a good curriculum for a child who is several grades behind in math? He had an IEP in public school and i am on my second year of homeschooling him and i haven't found a math curriculum that helps him grasp it yet

Yes, MWC could be a good fit for him. Children who struggle in math often do well with it, because the program increases in difficulty gradually and provides lots of practice and review to help them fully master the new skills.

Is it hard if your jumping in months into the year ?

@kateshomeschoolmathhelp1275 8 ай бұрын
I'd recommend starting at the beginning of the book, even if your child has already started a different third grade math program. You may be able to combine or skip some lessons, but the first few units lay important groundwork for mastering the multiplication and division facts. It's important that kids know those concepts well before moving on to the harder facts.

How can you do 2 kids at once same level?
@kateshomeschoolmathhelp1275
@kateshomeschoolmathhelp1275 8 ай бұрын
Families vary in how they do it. The easiest way is definitely to teach the lesson to both kids at the same time. Then, if there's a game, have them play against each other. But, if the two kids are very different in math ability, it might be better for the sibling relationship to teach them separately. Either way, you'll need 1 instructor guide and then 2 copies of each workbook. Happy Math!
