Beautiful looking kit!! All of these large car kits build up into really 'special' looking specimens! (IF YOU BUILD 'EM)!! Yeah Mathew, it's the British who usually use the turn "Door Cards". I'm not sure, & I don't want to offend anybody about having mostly 'small' cars, or 'cardboard' usage.✌️

That's the type that I would do slow and methodically studied the history and what was the paint colors they had for that year and duplicate that like take weeks and months to do this one to make it look like someone took the real thing and shrunk it down that is a beautiful score right there for a large scale model can't wait to see future build on this

That's a really great find Matthew and a real steal at the price you paid! I remember seeing those kits in my local hobby store back in the 80's and you couldn't touch one for under $125. Back then, $125 for a model kit was outrageous, lol. Finding one now unopened is like finding a needle in a pile of needles. You're right, building it properly, doing your usual outstanding paint job, (several bottles of paint) and rechroming everything is probably a couple weeks alone. I can't wait to see the videos for it. Thanks for sharing it with us! 👍

I have at least most of the Monogram 1/8th scale car kits. Also a 1/6th scale Tamiya Harley and a few 1/12th kits. Many Entex and Minicraft 1/16th and Revell 1/16,th dragster and funny cars. They all take up a lot of space. But they were all bought for very good prices before prices went through the roof.

The biggest model car I ever had was die cast zinc. I got it at Marshall-Field's in Chicago about 1968. I can't remember what car it was, but it was like 21" long. Nothing fit right on it, a lot of parts were badly cast and had warps and sags in them. There was a tube of some sort of cement to put it together with, but it wasn't neatly strong enough to keep it together. I finally decided the only way it could be done and kept together was to heat up parts in the oven (Mom loved that), use clamps and hunks of wood to striaghten them, and use Bondo to actually put it together. After it was painted and everything, my dog knocked it off the shelf and it came apart. We bondo'ed it back together and used it as a carbombing prop in a home movie I made a couple of years later. It blew up great with an M-80!

I think the driver, being outside, comes from the time of carriages. Rich people wanted to have their privacy, so cars were built with the driver's seat on the outside of the body, so as not to mix in and have their privacy. That's why nowadays limousines have a dividing window.
