Its a well needed change. I am glad they listen to the good ideas of people. Do we have any idea if this will take effect on existing worlds or only on new ones?

Man, this is cool. I hope it has a volume slider for animals..I spent 2 days making crafting tables and a fence perimeter of approx 1 mile radius to eliminate deer....and now I can barely get anywhere cuz I stop whatever Im doing whenever I hear one so that I can annihilate it. I love so many things about this game, but my god...the deer🥴

What was the default difficulty before this update? It's very fun on Xbox at this time.

I think he meant that since console commands can't easily be accessed on non-pc platforms, the devs building it into the UI proper like this will make the customisation that much easier for console players :)
