I am definitely a noob at chess, but today I had a game where I sac'd the queen to win a bishop and a knight and because of this move I later had the open diagonals around the enemy king and developed rooks first as black. In the end I blundered the mate move cause I had 10 sec left on the clock. But I checked for the correct move and it was indeed a mate. Oh and also because he took my queen with his own queen across the board she got stuck in a corner and never left it afterwards. :D

Man I love Eric Rosen, I think his approach to the game is a lot of fun. For a mere mortal who is not aiming to achieve any fancy titles but play chess exclusively for fun, I find him to be the best source for discovering fun and perhaps a bit arcane ways to play chess. That is in no way to diminish his qualifications to teach serious chess for players who are attempting to become titled players. But yeah, I appreciate the hell out of him and his content.

You said bishop d2 was probably the best move, but isn't knight c3 better, because after queen captures bishop there is knight d5 with an attack on the queen and after the queen moves to e4 or smth, the knight just takes on c7 with a fork on the rook? It seems the engine also suggests this.

You can, but after 7. ...Kd8, 8. Nxa8 Nxe5, black reclaims the gambited pawn and white's corner knight is as good as dead the moment black gets a chance to move his b pawn. possibly taken by the queen, but even better if black gets the chance to finachetetto his bishop in the process of attacking the knight, supporting the queen already on the long light sqaure diagonal. And until then, that knight isn't going anywhere. gaining the rook isn't worth the effective loss of both the bishop AND the knight.
