Today I learned the host lectern can see the answers and wagers as they're being written. I knew that was happening in the director's booth, as shown in another video. By the way, we'd LOVE to have more post-game talks shown in these clips! It's fine to cut them from the aired episode, but KZfaq is perfect for them!
@db9944

Now I know how Alex was able to do the math so quickly when the wagers got wonky. He just has to add and subtract that from each total ahead of time and then when the answers are in, he has the corresponding number ready. That also must be why they have a bonus question ready since the can tell based on that whether a tie is possible.

I think there was another video or maybe just a picture a couple years ago of Alex’s lectern showing the 3 players’ writing areas.

D B they always have a bonus question ‘ready’, it’s just a matter of how quickly they can get it to the host and have the stage (lights, cameras) set. Easy to do that in “no time” for TV purposes however with a simple cut. There are portions of the regular game that often have long timeouts that we don’t see on TV when they have to determine whether a player should get credit for a response, fix scores, etc.

That might be something they did to avoid having co-champions and pay twice as much. Back in 2002 they did co-champs but didn't have a problem with it. Now that they might have to make two huge payments they want to use a tiebreaker to avoid it. Sad.

Yes, the next show would have three new players. By the way, that means the player in third made the worst possible bet in this situation. If she bet less than everything, she'd have won if all three missed FJ. For a player way behind, the dream scenario is for the other two players to be tied going into FJ.

Going in his second week at the helm, Ken Jennings is growing in and easing very well into his interim role as host and it shows! Just as the late, great Alex Trebek did in 36 years (and after the equally masterful Art Fleming), Ken Jennings is becoming more relaxed and seems more relatable with the players. Hope he becomes a permanent host for the show someday.

Ken seems like a good overall host. Only thing missing is the unique quality of a voice. His voice is kinda awkward and pitchy at times. But I guess that's what you come to expect from a nerdy guy like that lol

Ken is just the first in a series of "guest hosts" that the show will try out for a few weeks each, then they will decide who the permanent new host will be. Maybe they will ask for audience opinion on the permanent host? Other guest hosts already announced will be Katie Couric, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Bill Whitaker (TV news), and Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory.)

I can't remember the last time I've seen a tiebreaker. Although I really wish there was a better option than a one question "play off" BUT I still completely UNDERSTAND why it is the way it is. Also Ken is very much improving and finally relaxing. He's doing a great job as a guest host for the show. I still do wonder if they'll have him stay on as the host or not though.

While nobody can ever be Alex Trebek, I have enjoyed Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik as the hosts of Jeopardy! It was jarring at first to see Ken host the first show after Alex's death, but I'm pretty sure I'm right when I guess that Alex wouldn't want Jeopardy! to die with him. It is his legacy and I'm sure he wanted Jeopardy! to endure even without him around. Personally, as an ENFP , the strong feeling of emotions when I think of Alex not being with us anymore still makes me tear up, and it would have totally been worse if I didn't have my favorite game/quiz show around on top of that. Kudos to the entire Jeopardy! crew for continuing to create this show... and from one Alex to another, thank you, Trebek.

Although the co-champion rule was disestablished in early Season 31, co-champions is now a rare occurrence used with returning champions who were previously unable to return. The first instance had Priscilla Ball, the second instance had Claudia Corriere, and the third instance will have Zach Newkirk.

A one-off sudden death tiebreaker clue hardly seem fair after an entire game contest I suggest both contestants return for the next game as co-champions and continue until one winner is selected as usual. This would most likely only require one evolution since this is such a rare occurrence.
