8:34 is very crazy times for the 3200m, but just to add on top of this insane performance is that Daniel Simons was in the 4x1600 the DAY BEFORE running this race

This continues to prove that we are in the era of high schoolers that have essentially become professional athletes since their youth. It’s a different game now where it’s easier than ever to completely commit to one sport and dedicate all of your time to it. The same thing is happening in swimming! My prediction is within the next 10 years… times are going to plateau and breaking a record will become nearly impossible and very rare.

In reference to the Miramar invitational, Florida track always runs the athletes into headwinds, if the wind is coming from the direction of the traditionally positioned timing table. I have only been to one well run meet in Florida where they reversed the direction of the runners. They really need to get a hold of this, because the athletes don't like it and many show up and just leave because they don't want the slower time on their record. Also, most of the meets in Florida are poorly run, with excessively long wait times between heats and events. This makes many families and spectators never come back to the meet again. I believe that this is a big reason why Track is rarely shown on network tv channels -- there is just far too much down time to keep a production moving and viewers tunes in. Replays are fine, since they can edit out all of the down time.

I remember back in my HS days you' be lucky if a few (like 4-5) went under 9 minutes for the 2-mile at some point during the year, and that was usually at state championship meets at the end of the season. And I mean nationally, not just in one state. A lot of these young men will probably do it multiple times during the year, which seems crazy. Worth noting that in the late 1970s-early 1980s we didn't have 'rubberized' tracks, just crushed granite or crushed brick (no high-tech shoes, either). All the HS in my area now have 'rubberized' tracks.

I would go to say the high tech shoes is probably the reason why sub 9 is becoming more common. I’m curious to know why this year there was a huge surge in number of kids breaking it, considering the carbon plated spikes have been out for 3-4 years now.

In 1999 I remember watching Darrell Rideaux beat Casey Combest in the 100m at the Arcadia invitation. They were hyping up Casey Combest so much leading up to that meet and Darrell Rideaux completely destroyed him and made him quit mid race.

I would really like a video with more context. I want to know why this is happening. I know 8 more athletes were on the results page compared to last year, so has this event maybe just become more popular? Is it simply the athletes becoming more hyped for the 3200 m race and the ideal weather at Arcadia? I don't want to burst any bubbles, but I really want to know why this has happened because I don't believe it is a mere coincidence, especially because the graph at 4:40 shows such a linear growth.

@RDDHopsing77 California HS races 1600m & 3200m and athletes can't wear spikes in XC races. Invitationals will sometimes add a full mile race as well. All California HS sports are governed by CIF.

When you talk about Kenyan dominance people are quick to forget that in the late 70's through the mid 80's Steve Ovette, Steve Cram, and Sabastian Coe, blew the Kenyans away. And they were White British Runners. Advance 20-22 years and Galen Rupp....(silver medal in the Olympic 10K) and Steeplechaser Evan Jagger are regularly beating the Kenyans ...Both White Runners. And White Woman also were Dominating. It's just that the press wants Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. And we must not forget Triple World Record Holder Jacob Ingerbritzen from Norway who is blowing away the Kenyans for the past 3 years. I'd say its a tie between British Runners and Kenyan runners since 1980 and a razor thin margin of Kenyas over the rest of the world for the past 20 years. It's just that the LIBERAL PRESS focusus on the Kenyans.

@@danielbrown3461 I am aware of those instances and don't discount them. But in the main, the Africans have had a pretty good run of things ever since Kip Keino broke through in 1968. And in the 90s and early 2000s the Moroccans were quite dominate. And when you talk about the road scene and the marathon it is the Africans who are in the front pack in depth--and yes, I am well aware of Rupp's bronze but he hasn't dominated. No one was happier than I was when Rupp broke the African juggernaut in 2012 and 2016. But we don't have the depth of the Africans. I do hope some of these kids break through and become a dominate force in middle and long distances on the world stage. BTW I am no fan of liberal press or DEI. I am just making an observation that many of top high school runners seldom make it to the next level and stay there. Many of them disappear off the scene. Perhaps we are in a transition where that will change!

@@danielbrown3461also there hasn’t been an african runner that has medaled in the 1500 since the 2021 olympics. last years world championship was GB, norway, norway and the year before was GB, norway, spain. also last year in the 5K only 1 african medaled to get bronze as norway and spain were gold and silver

Had Marvin Shifketon run track he would do monstrous things. In Jim class Marvin ran a 52 seconds 440 in Al Orter cleats and he was only 5’4”. It was 1972 and on a sender track. Once he India wrestled Frank and almost one

If what happen on that track Is not one of the best things to occurre in recorded History? What is? Life comes down to only four things: Breathing, crawling, walking, and running. Absolutely nothing else matters. If one thinks that is not true? Please tell us how one gets out of bed each morning to eat one first meal of the day? How do you get to the bathroom? How does one get to the bank. Bipedal locomotion is what makes us what we are. It is so simple, so elementary, so commonplace, that nothing else can see the whole would spread out before them as we can. Better running means longer health spans for us all. I cannot wait until everyone is able to run a 12 minute mile on the 100rdth birthday. That will not set any records but a 12 minute common 12 minute mile at 100 would ensure the continuation of our species until the sun burns too bright.

I mean definitely not wrong--- I was going to make some jokes about the PEDs being the new models of shoes. So of course shoes are shaving HUGE time off distance events. But honestly with the advent of abuse of oral steroids and PEDs by high schoolers ALLLLL over tiktok, insta, etc and the ease of internet ordering, it's foolish to think some of the kids wouldn't try testosterone enhancers or other potent androgenic compounds. Does Arcadia even have testing???

You left out that Simmon’s winning time was nearly a second slower than Simeon Birnbaum’s winning time from last year, and was also .8 seconds slower than the time he ran at Arcadia last year when he finished 2nd to Sim. Said it before and I’ll say again; your channel would be a hell of a lot better if you dialed back on the clickbait headlines and ‘FIRST TIME EVER UNBELIEVABLE!!!’ overhyping.

This channel used to be better. You used to really focus on significant achievements and the videos were really informative. Now it's most of the time all about fast sprint results and youth sports. You make a video about teenagers running good times over 3200m while Courtney Dauwalter is completely ignored even though she did incredible, inhuman things on the highest level last year. I am disappointed in this channel and will not take the time to listen to you in the future anymore. I don't care what a freshman does or doesn't do, I don't want to follow the US high school scene. I don't mind a little something being said about it if it's really really good, but not to that extent. Same goes for all the sprinting stuff. That's not what I committed to when I subscribed to this channel. Thanks for the good times. But it's too insignificant for me in terms of quality and content these days. Goodbye
