Now that I've given you my Killer Predictions for SCREAM VI, it's time to guess what the MOTIVE of those killers will be. While most people out there will predict the killer to be Sam Carpenter, Tara Carpenter, Kirby Reed, or even SIDNEY PRESCOTT out for revenge!!!? I have a much more realistic theory. No, it's not the Ghostface Cult run by Stu Macher... I mean, come on! He died in SCREAM (1996)... but I think you'll find this one to be much more in line with the rules set about in the universe of the Scream franchise. Even by the standards of the supposed NEW RULES, which we will see introduced here.
Either way, lemme know what you think, and tell me in the comments what your Scream 6 motive predictions are!!

Character names were updated after I recorded and posted the video. The professor character is now called Dr. Christopher Stone. However, many university professors have PhDs, so that doesn’t change my theory. Also please refrain from dropping spoilers regarding character’s potential fates in the comments. Just because you may think you know something differently based on cast members accidentally revealing details with no context, doesn’t mean everybody else knows about it too, or even wants to for that matter. I really believe it's the Meeks siblings. Their dad was a horror nut plus that's motive for obsession. Possibly why they have memorabilia like a fan would.

Stu can be also be a killer turned hero. Maybe randy was the mastermind the whole time with stu and billy. Stu got away and randy was killed by mrs Loomis before he could get back together

This Ghostface is very well trained knowing how to dodge bullets and even commit his killings in public where everybody can see definitely the most scariest and threatening Ghostface by far.

@@BaronVonBielski this Ghostafce carries and walks with the shotgun like any military/Police Swat officer would. They also move a lot quicker than previous Ghostfaces, this would indicate some form of military/martial arts training.

As much as I want Stu back, this makes the most sense. Especially since what we’ve seen so far hints that the killer is much different from previous killers obsessed with the stab franchise, and instead their obsession hinges on the true crimes behind it.

I really want a shift for this one : 3 killers, 1 killed in the first 45 minutes and their identity bringing so much paranoia in the entire group, then the reveal of the 1 Mastermind (dies at the end). But I DREAM of the third killer not being discovered and getting low profile until they come back in Scream 7 with a new partner. Like, how would the survivors manage to be in the same emotional position as Sydney at the beginning of Scream 3 ?

personally think it's got something to due with Stu, how or why it's simple I believe it's a fan of Stu just like Jeffrey Dahmer or Charles Manson even the night stalker had fans when they were in prison and with this newly added shrine coming in this new movie I believe it's gonna be a fan of his... but I know what you're thinking "but stu is dead" and this is where you are wrong even in the last movie when dewey and the whole cast went to talk about Sam's secret and they asked who Stu was Dewey said "he's Is Billy Loomis accomplice and a real loony toon" so it makes you think why would he call him crazy if he's dead..... it's all there for people to see. And this truly would be something the movie has NEVER done before in the since that each movie was over the loss of a mother, "movie 1" loss of a child "movie 2" loss of family "movie 3" loss of self or being an outcast within your own family "movie 4" and then loss of nostalgia for something you loved "the series of stab" so yes I believe the next movie will be something based on hybristophilia ✌️

Whoa! If the writers really bring up that line about Gale having been scheduled to cover the Sharon Stone stalker as part of the motive against Gale, I’d be very very impressed and ecstatic about it.

I think Tara bringing up the Babadook is a hint about Scream 6. At the end she says "I still prefer the Babadook", a movie where a mother is plagued by the death of her husband. Ghostface could be the wife or girlfriend of either a previous Ghostface or a victim. Maybe linked to Richie or Roman or Mickey or even Cotton. Or maybe it's the reverse, the husband of a woman who was killed, maybe Kate's husband wanting revenge for Jill's death or Judy's ex-husband wanting revenge for Judy and Wes' death. And the husband could either be Detective Williams (Dermot) or Professor Freddie (Henry). Interesting they both have those names, Williams similar to Williamson (Kevin) and Freddie like Freddy Krueger. Or maybe it's Sam and Tara's mom. 😆 👻 🔪 Or maybe there is no link to anyone, and it's just someone obsessed with Ghostface and killing. It would be interesting if they do like in Scream 2 where Mrs. Loomis had people fooled into thinking that she was a reporter only until Sidney saw her and knew she was Billy's mom. Sidney and Gale are the only ones left who could identify people from the past. Maybe they've worked that into the plot - Sidney's absence allows someone from the past to "infiltrate" the group, get to know them, etc and kill them. .

Also, Dr. Freddy’s character if he’s the killer, he can definitely manipulate the situation by misdiagnosing Sam to be a danger to society this is a brilliant plot.

That's all possible but by now I feel like it would be pretty predictable if they introduce new people into this movie that we don't know just to make them killers. I think the original Scream worked so well because Billy and Stu were main characters that the audience felt like they knew. Can't wait to see what direction they take.

Henry Czerny played an excellent villain in Revenge & Ready Or Not so I can see him being Ghostface. And your Motive Prediction is pretty spot on and believable

I agree that Prof. Freddie could be a killer, maybe even the mastermind. But I think the motive is different, depending on what Freddie teaches. I've been wondering if he's a professor of Psychology (and is maybe the one Sam is talking to in the trailer). It looks like 6 is taking a bit from Halloween 2018, and it wouldn't surprise me if Freddie is 6's Dr. Sartain. He's studied evil, now he wants to experience it first hand.

The confirmed names for the new cast was released today and Henry Czerny’s character is not a professor but rather a doctor, Dr.Christopher Stone perhaps. He’s most likely Sam’s therapist.

A lot of Professors are Doctors. Anyone with a PhD can technically call themselves a Doctor. Also Universities will bring in outside professionals to teach classes. Like a Lawyer to teach a law class, or a Psychologist to teach a psych class. So he could still be connected to the school.

Whoever this Ghostface is are very experience and look to be no joke a lot of fans believe Jack Champion to be Ghostface but we just got to wait and see at least whoever Ghostface won't be spoiled like last movie with Richie being one of the Ghostface.

Yes, the killer's motive is important. Which is why whenever I think back to Charlie, who somehow has one of the biggest bodycounts in the whole franchise, being motivated only by Jill leading him on (that boy would have bought her bathwater on OnlyFans if it existed back then. Kirby's too.) instead of having any legitimate personal grievances against any of the important characters, I feel the laborious duration of Scream 4 everytime I rewatch it.

I genuinely believe neither Charlie, nor Trevor BUT Judy Hicks should have been the other killer alongside Jill. Waste of character, how they killed her in the next movie. That was a perfect time to do two female killers and that would have been SO impactful. She looked physically capable, her being a cop could have explained her efficiency yet brutality as the killer, would have made even more sense than Charlie. Hell how weird she was throughout the movie, they actually could have maintained character consistency there as well if she was the killer.

@@silentsaturn7604 Nah, Stu's motive was that he was a TOTAL psychopath finding comfort in brutality. Unpopular opinion but I genuinely find that BY FAR the most impactful motive for killing people while dressed in a Halloween costume. Just a crazy guy finding joy doing ridiculous things.

Something worth contemplating is how things would've worked if Sidney was still in the movie. Did they change the main killer because Sidney wasn't there? (Entirely possible, but could have huge implications for the themes of the movie.)

I was thinking of ways it could be Kirby. I had the idea that she is suffering from PTSD from barely surviving the events of Scream 4. She adopts the Ghostface persona because she finds it empowering and eases her anxiety. Basically: if I am the Killer, I cannot be the Victim. Movie rules.

Yes! The Wrongly Accused: The Musical billboard tipped me off because Wrongly Accused is the name of Gale’s first book, plus there is the fact that Gale has been working and living in New York for years. And at the end of Scream 5 she said she had no intention to write about the most recent killings. And Gale showed them the shrine so Gale’s trying to prevent a resurgence of killers and Kirby being a FBI agent is probably doing the same by looking for treats online. Sam’s a misdirection here.

The male ghostface being somebody Gale steamrolled over, so he seeks revenge against her = good enough, I guess? The two female ghostfaces being his subordinates who kill for him because they want "better grades"... - shallow, dated, deprives then of meaningful agency, and how can that possibly tie in to the thematic meta-commentary on the current state of the horror genre this movie is bound to have? If anything, they should be screaming "Where's Sidney Prescott?" like the entitled fans are. Imagine Ghostfaces being disappointed that despite their best efforts, they weren't able to throw the incumbent final girl into the mix yet again and so they have to deal with Sam, the new one they do not like as a final girl at all (they should say stuff like, "you got mixed reviews!" "You should be more like Sidney!"). Now that's meta.

Your analysis is very good. It’s fun to speculate. I really like this pivot to NYC…I think it takes the series in a new direction. I just hope the movie has something good to say about the state of horror today, like the original trilogy each had good commentary on different aspects of horror. That’s what makes a Scream movie different.

One clue that is very seldom mentioned is CASTING. Going into Scream 2, it was so obvious that Laurie Metcalf (who played Ms Loomis) had acting credentials far above any of the other actors (she would later receive an Oscar nomination). If you saw Scream 2 right up until the reveal of the killers you would wonder why an actress like her would be interested in such a small role. One could arguably make a similar case for Mikey Madison in Scream 5. Another example is the casting of Emily Mortimer in Scream 3. She generally did serious or artsy dramas (if she ever did commercial "mainstream" movies it was as one of the lead roles). It is clear that they cast her to be the killer in Scream 3. For Scream 6, this logic would implicate Dermot Mulroney and Henry Czerny. I think Czerny is more likely since he wasn't cast as a box office draw, especially if he turns out to only have one or two short scenes as "a therapist".

Top Notch content as usual. I have to say I never decided to buy tickets for the "Stu is still alive" train. I just don't see it work, as you explained. (However, I am on the "Emma Roberts portrayal as Jill is amazing, needs to be essential character" train, still pissed about that ranking, only "memorable" :( ). Regardless I could imagine this idea of the motive in my head. If it wasn't for the fact that I doubt they choose the two girls you suggested as the killers...

I think maybe he isn’t trying to frame anyone he could or might not have any connections with the survivors but maybe he is obsessed with the fact they survived and he wants to finish them off by killing them all and not framing them

I think it seems obvious that the main killer is going to be someone who is obsessed with real life serial killers, kind of making a meta reference to the infatuation with Dahmer with that recent series. Like, we've seen killers obsessed with the Stab movies, but not a killer obsessed with the killers themselves. I would love for the killers to be working independently from each other, the obsessed fan with the old mask, and the other two killers having their own motives.

I agree with this. People need to stop with the returning character as a killer bullshit, it's stupid and would jump the shark. I still think it might Dermot Mulroney who spent his entire career studying the past killers and wants to suceed where they failed because as a trained cop he has the ressources, skill and knowledge and yes, he probably has one or two apprentices with him that he promised great fame and such only to screw them over in the end.

I think it’s unbelievably stupid that people think this character can come back after just being absent from five movies, and not being heard from on screen for the last 30 years

Learning now that we're back on a campus and your plausible theory of the plot focusing on revenge on Gale, I feel a bit bummed since I was hoping this film would be 'Rules of an ARG/Unfiction' considering how they're set in a major city and how early ARGs on the internet were mistakenly seen as real and got extremely dark.

2 very zealous students commiting murders for A+ grades would be a very interesting motive. With education being so competitive these days, not only in America but in the world, it can add a very unique and fun twist, making the movie more layered.

Agreed, I’d honestly really like Quinn an Anika killing for the professor just to simply get good grades, it’s not unrealistic 🤷‍♂️ I like it. While the professor’s motive is the personal one the other 2 are simply getting through university by doing some murder.

Maybe Professor Freddie can repeat the motivation of Mrs. Loomis where he's the father of one of the previous killers either Jill, Amber, or Richie. (maybe Jill because she seems more important than the other 2) and he's taking revenge of Sam but also has something against Gale that makes him a bit different from Mrs. Loomis.

I believe that a still shot of another character reveals that this character filmed a reveal shot as Ghostface. They usually shoot more than one ending, which makes it not ironclad, but it definitely is a reveal scene… and this involving a character whose name has not been revealed on top of that. So… who knows?

Hey Mr Cherry. I'm just curious, if you could go back in the timeline and swap out Ghostface duos who would you pair with who and why? Example: Billy Loomis and Jill Roberts would the most dangerous duo I think. Most dysfunctional for sure but still. Also Stu and Mickey would have the highest body count, would be the most chaotic Ghostface but idk how successful they'd be. Just wanted your thoughts.

I actually heard a good theory and case for Kirby being the killer. She & Sam would’ve been in high school at the same time. If she were to know that Sam is Billy Loomis’ daughter, she could look at getting her as a sort of revenge for her friends being now dead (saying as she can’t kill any previous Ghostface). Since she’s also a cop, she could easily set up Sam to be framed

wouldn't work Sam is too much younger than Kirby. Sam is suppose to be 23 in 2022 she left woodsbro at 18 she was gone for 5 years. Kirby in 2011 idk if they gave what grade, but let's say she was a senior 17 or 18 during Scream 4 it's been 12 years sine Kirby's appearance. She's either 29 or 30 so can't see how Sam and her would have been in school the around the same time.

I love the idea of getting more insight into Gale's past. Long before it was even confirmed Neve wouldn't be in this movie, I wanted a narrative that rally pushes Gale back into that proactive role she had in Scream 1 and 2, as well as the moral ambiguity she also had in those movies. My idea was to have a parallel character to Mrs Loomis, but maybe a younger male character. Just someone to act as a foil to Gale and her role as a journalist. Combined with the aftermath of Dewey's death, it would be interesting to explore a Gale who is tempted to revert back to her cutthroat ways from Scream 1 and 2 but in the end does the right thing again. To me that friction is what makes Gale's character interesting and this would be a perfect way to revisit it. With the trailer making me feel like there'd be a lot more Sam stuff (Which makes sense! I wasn't one of those people forgetting she was set up as the protagonist and thinking they would change the entire script due to Tara being more popular), I figure Gale might just be a supporting character (as would Kirby... damn what is her role going to be lol, I hope this movie isn't overstuffed) but the killer motive tying into her really could highlight Gale's character My only issue is I guess a difference of opinion. I don't need this big overarching conspiracy, but I'd want Sam's character arc over the trilogy and the themes to be tied into the motives, and for 5-6-7- to be somewhat connected. You seem to prefer something that's more self-contained and simple. In this instance Sam is just collateral and Gale is the target, and it doesn't really follow on from Scream 5, nor does it set up Scream 7. It's more like a regular episode of the Scream chronicles, haha

Possible theories: professor is orchestrating this and was possibly in woodsboro and twisted Billy and stus minds and is trying to groom sam or frame her because she is Billy's daughter. Theory 2: the Meeks didn't like how Mrs Loomis , Sam's grandma,killed their uncle and want revenge. Theory 3: Tara is fed up with Sam being the key to all this and if the Loomis family is all dead it will end this whole thing. She had that evil look in the trailer and looks like she tossed Sam off the top of the theater. Why would it be a survivor from a previous movies? Never been done before. All the survivors from the other movies were never suspects. Also, how did this whole thing follow them to New York? The logical theory is it's the boyfriend\girlfriend of the new cast of survivors from scream 5 but that's been done before (Billy being Sidneys bf and the killer).

Coincidentally, I also thought of the same killers, mostly because of the idea that for the first time, there would be two female killers (although Devyn Nekoda's character in the stairs scene looks like she is going to die); although, there is more probability that the Professor is; but in the sequences of the trailer Ghostface is very fast, strong, and looks very imposing, and Josh Segarra looks the physical profile of that Ghostface.... But in the Scream movies the killer is always tall and when he reveals himself, he has a different physical profile hahaha

My theory is it's the Detective (Dermot Mulroney) and is related to Stu somehow and has a young new male character helping him in these murders. The detective has access to shotguns and all the evidence to have that "shrine" to Ghostface! I think that seems pretty obvious but the last 2 Screams were obvious with the killers.

Honestly, I think the main reason the killers would try and frame Sam is because she wasn’t the killer in 5 and, in this sense, she doesn’t respect the legacy. It wouldn’t be the main motive but it would be someone’s.

The main Ghostface will be police officer Williams, who is also Stu's father, and he will be leading a cult of family members of deceased victims from previous movies. He will have carefully selected and groomed his cult members and each one of them will wear one of the eight Ghostface masks of the killer who best relates to their family member (the ninth mask - Billy's - will be used throughout the movie to groom Sam into becoming a cult member). I could also see him trying to recruit his deputy Kirby with Charlie's mask. The motive is down to the fact that all of their lives have been ruined by the media attention surrounding the murders, especially Williams who lost a grandson last year as a result of fanatics that the Stab movies/media coverage birthed. So, his plan is to create fear and stop the obsession with these killings by individually targeting true crime/Stab movie fans. The theatre exhibition from the trailers will be an underground art gallery that is planning to open on a specific night unbeknown to the police (apart from Williams of course) where the Ghostface cult plan to kill as many fans as possible. Gale will also be the main target due to the fact that it was her exploitation of the original murders that caused the families so much pain.

i think its starting to be a possibility it will be Sam's split personality. the shot at 2:25 in this video is sam holding a gun looking kinda crazy. maybe for the first time ever, this is about a protagonist's journey into becoming the villain. Sam goes over the edge and gives in at the end, leading to Tara taking over as the true and final hero

I'm gonna be pissed if Sam is the killer. It's too obvious and the motive of simply "going crazy" is boring. I miss the olden days when the killers had a legitimate reason to be pissed. Like, Roman? Who can blame Roman? His mother abandoned him.

Sam obviously loves her sister very much & I fear if something happens to her she would go over the edge. Honestly I’m just excited to see where they take that character and this story!

I love this prediction. I adored the movie but I think this could’ve given us a stronger reveal in the end and allowed for some backstory for who Gale was before the franchise. The joke has been made across many movies that the woodsburo murders made up her whole personality and career

I like the thought of maybe the killers or mastermind behind the killings is trying to turn Sam into a killer rather than continuously set her up as one. Like what if this therapist is or was also Stu's. Or is tied to Stu somehow and believes what started with Billy & Stu should finish with Billy and Stu's bloodline and his goal is to go for Sidney with Sam. I believe he possibly has 2 people working for him, like just a couple random patients.

The professor theory is one I could definitely get behind but the two new random girls, I don't know... If the writers REALLY go with something as dull as killing for good grades, I'll be severely disappointed. The line of "There's never been one like me, I'm something...new" just screams for something a little more fantastical. We can stay rooted in reality but let's touch the sky a bit. The franchise deserves that.

Either as a therapist or school counselor. Whatever. He’d have every reason to get revenge on Gale. My money is on that guy for sure. I think your take on this has been the best I’ve heard so far.

I think they are doing a take on Williamson's original idea for scream 3. Like a cult of Ghostface and bringing someone from a past movie back as the killer. I'm basing this off the trailer of the old, weathered mask by the one killer and then on the subway and like another scene where there are multiple Ghostfaces' with pure white clean masks. I'm not saying it is Stu, like Williamson wanted and I think Kirby is a red herring for that, but someone or related to someone from a past movie?
