GTA i would have guessed 10 transactions a year with 2.5 comission on 15 mil = 375k minus 50 percent overhead = 188k

12 deals a year is still very good. You would had to have been working in real estate for a few years AND also working full time in order to do 12 deals a year.

I live near a local Burnaby BC realtor (Phil Moore) who lives in a mansion and drives Porsches and a Ferrari. His wifey/partner and his son are also realtors. Their house is a fortress

It doesn't matter how many people came into the Industry. The rent market is over the roof you can make 200k with renting commissions alone. The rent will never ever going into resetion in canada

No offence, but I just had the impression that all realtors have huge billboards with -SOLD written in bold and so many SOLD over ASKING signs that they all must be making a hell lot in % terms just because the house prices are ridiculous here. I mean even if a realtor only sells a $2M house in a year, he/she'd be making more than nurses or some doctors or software prof etc would make.

this is a tough one. how many transactions per year would be considered a "full time" job? five? ten? those agents must be making 500k easily, after tax 250k/year? its too much when you consider the type of professional office job + education you need to make 250k working a regular salaried job. maybe im completely off, but this is what i gather looking at the lifestyles of "successful" fultime realtors.

I'd say 15 sales minimum. Some people make a TON and some make NOTHING, I like is that it's directly correlated to your work ethic and people skills.

This is one of the only professions where you don't have to be highly educated to make a lot of money. You take the real estate course to get licensed and away you go. It is all dependent on how hard you work period.

They do have their place in the housing market but not in the way most real estate agents think. Many of them are fooled into taking up on low level tactics that have a a disastourous effect on housing. If they knew their place they wouldn't pull such moves that are deceptive in nature. The more they engage in such, the more they become disconnected from reality and then they start living in bubbles, and because they operate on the market, they transfer on this bubble on to the market in hopes that it will be accepted as a reality. This is why so many home buyers have been conned. Quite simply by greed

i work on a team with a top realtor who claims he is making 7 figures ,, rumour has it he is selling his home because he maxed out on his heloc and can't afford payments.. you guys are all fibbing on your numbers.. nobody is net a million in toronto anymore unless you are barry cohen
