Honestly the most tragic thing about this show so far is the actor of Skol passing away. He's easily the coolest and most interesting character in the show. What you said about wanting his story to come full circle really struck home, it will be very sad if his character doesn't die by the end of this season because of how much potential there is with his character. Both versions are good in their own right, but the Legends Dathomir Sisters were interesting. For starters, they didnt use actual magic, nor were they Aliens. A fallen Jedi was exiled to Dathomir, which was actually a very beautiful planet. The different tribes were all descended from her,and they could use the Force but their knowledge of what it was and how to use it was limited. To them,it was magic, and thehand gestures and chants were ways for them to focus and use the Force. They had long since learned to tame and ride the native Rancor, and had a society where the women were in power, men were slaves and husbands, little more. Finally the Nightsisters. They were a clan of outcasts, those who had broken the laws of the clans, gave in to hatred and the power of the Dark Side of the Force. Palpatine had an imperial outpost/prison on the planet, and had it erased from knowledge. The main cast ended up stranded on Dathomir, and had to deal with a war between the clans and thr Nightsisters, who were also trying to take over an Imperial ship in order to escape the Planet. Dont get me wrong, what has become of the Nightsisters is certainly interesting, even beloved by many people. But the original Dathomir was precious to a lot of us,and the retcon wasnt easy to accept

Lets get something straight:I dont agree or disagree with it. I liked the original more, and if I had a choice thats how it would have been. But I understand that a lot of people only know the cannon version. They can like what I dont like, that doesnt affect me. In my mind Legends is what happened, im not going to get angry if someone enjoys the new movies,or the other version of the Nightsisters, or whatever else. My enjoyment of the series is not dictated by whether or not others agree with me, the person who produced it,or if its cannon or not

@ngabel8956 you forget there is a vastly larger audience that watches live action vs animated. So he has to kinda take introduction of characters into live action like they are new to the viewer. He can't just play it off like everyone who sees it has seen the dathomirian witches in Clone Wars, or seen Thrawn and Ezra in Rebels. It HAS to be baby steps and this is so they don't alienate those who think they are missing a huge piece of a puzzle by not watching a "kids show" which is what a healthy margin of the casual viewer will depict animated shows.

Alright, so 3 big takeaways from this episode that I LOVED: 1. I wasn't hopefuly for the character they got to play Ezra. Seemed it bit off, but now that I actually hear him speaking he has a lot of the inflections and the way he talks and carries himself fits Ezra perfectly. Super stoked about it. 2. the little nod to the 3 trilogies when Ahsoka is talking to Huyang about the stories of the galaxy they were heading to, and her saying "The first one of course is the best" a nod to what people say about the mainline films. and 3. the biggest thing about this for me is the fact that they made it feel like a completely different galaxy but managed to make it still feel like Star Wars. I honestly expected them to make it feel more modernized like Promethius or something, but they didn't. And I'm super happy about it.

My first thought in response to this comment: "But does Thrawn have a kraken he can summon at will?" Then my next thought: "Oh, he totally should!" In the EU, the Noghri were basically Thrawn's kraken. In Rebels he had Rukh, but just him, not the whole race. But considering he's working with Nightsisters here (Nightmothers?), he should probably gain access to some rancors.

Legends lore tells us that they had to built them in space and they were heavy to carry repulsorlifts also it is kind of idiotic to use since you need to shut off your energy shields on lower ship part for it to work but they changed it and now we got this mess and sure there is a canon explanation but tbh i liked the legends way more it already is a strong ship which could easily be used for orbital bombardment and as transport for many landing troops it is a huge weapon platform and carrier unit and there where also different other classes but now because it is so iconic and fans love to see the big triangle we got it everywhere... i mean sure on a planet with low gravity it even could have stayed in Atmosphere for some time even in the legends lore but it would have been an a risk you wouldnt take

@@spartan4161Well when thrawn most likely assed the Chimera he most likely would want to repair the most critical infrastructure so the reactor and repulsor would probably be one of the major priorities most likely harvesting the resources provided by the planet they repaired the ships reactor and repulsor allowing it to once again fly within atmosphere also thrawn wants to initiate a quick mass scale evacuation of all resources he has on the planet so most likely he moved the ship all the way down to the atmosphere and onto the platform so they could get the resources contained within the catacombs to the ship faster and leave as soon as possible as the largest ship they have capable of carrying these resources would be the lamboda shuttle which would take a long time so the star destroyers being close would be a far more efficient option

The caskets could also be dead witches, as dead troopers being burried in their catacombs doesn't seem likely. I love that the distorted music was super interesting and to hear the organ suddenly play underneath it was great. Thrawn naturally gets his organ theme, but it also gets storted by Peridia. As for Baylan, I think perhaps Filoni is inspired by Kreia from KOTOR2 and that maybe Baylan could want to kill the Force. He said similar things to her such as the endless cycle of war, death and renewal. Side note: I also think Shin's design is interesting because she seems to be a mashup between Vaylin and Senya from SWTOR as well. Just... observations.

Not as bad as Obi-Wan, but not even moderately good. None of the characters are likeable (except maybe the droids), Thrawn wasn't intimidating like everyone said he would be, and the plot is hair-thin. Unlike Andor, which took nothing for granted and built each character from the ground up with smaller stories connecting to larger plots, this series feels like the kind of fan service that excludes non-fans.

No way they introduce something as existential and lovecraftian as Abeloth. Filoni has to keep all of this stuff digestible for general audiences. Besides Abeloth wasnt even popular during the Pre Disney days. She was more of a "Jump the shark" part of the lore. So it's best that Filoni and Star Wars leave Abeloth in the Legends and forget her. Tho I suppose Filoni could change Abeloth to just be a really powerful and scary Night Sister. Give her some of Abeloths qualities, shape shifting and sharp teeth, and have her use magic but get rid of the goddess stuff.

One great thing I like about the episode is how you can see how the stay in the other galaxy has worn down the Imperials, when you look at the Chimera you can see how it was repaired as best as possible but even still some parts were damaged. For the actual crew you can see most visibly how the stormtroopers had cracked armor with dull colors that they needed to mend with red cloth and gold, (I choose to believe that that's what the cloth is there for rather than magic healing) heck even Thrawn wasn't spared by time, as people said he was a little out of shape and you could see his uniform was worn on the right side. They're small details but they help to add to the story.

The closest time was in S4 and while Sabine saw Thrawn, he didn't know she was in the Tie Defender until later on. Which is ironic, since Thrawn was fascinated by her art, but she's the last member of the Ghost crew he meets.

Maybe off screen. But he is very attuned to her art and understands her possibly more than her own family

@@Ezramando16 Define how tight you want "face to face" to mean. There was that time Sabine & Ezra took the Tie Defender Elite out from Thrawn at the Lothal airfield, and he pulled his best North by Northwest impression (well kinda) and shot at Sabine with his dinky pistol as she strafed the runway. You could also argue things like Thrawn's transmission to our cast within the Lothal dome asking for their surrender, though it's very vague how those transmissions actually work. I'm just having some fun.

Someone might have already commented on this but the Night Trooper armour reminds of the Japanese tradition of Kintsugi which is repairing broken ceremics or pottery with gold lacquer. For someone like Thrawn who has an appreciation of the arts this seems like right up his alley

I'm curious if they're setting up a notion that Thrawn is indirectly responsible for the First Order's creation. Other material suggested that Palpatine had hopes that the imperial remnant that fled into the Unknown Regions would seek out an unknown dark side presence. What he didn't anticipate was that remnant would turn itself into First Order as it was not in his original plan. Given that we don't know the context of how the First Order came into fruition as it was not part of Palatine's original plan, what if Thrawn is indirectly responsible for it?

Hopefully he finds a way to either retcon or invalidate most of the events of the sequels with these ideas.

@@ModuliOfRiemannSurfaces As much as I would like for that to happen, it’s unlikely that Lucasfilm would ever permit that. Filoni will likely justify certain story decisions within the Sequel Trilogy, albeit with better character development just as he did with Star wars prequels but given that the Sequel trilogy ended on a whimper, I’m not sure if that approach will please everyone.

@@Jackal_El_Lobo34 The thing is, with Willow, Indiana Jones, etc racking up such monumental losses at a time when Disney is looking to cut costs, I honestly do think Lucasfilm could try a 180 in an attempt to survive if Dave’s Heir to the Empire movie works well.

It was honestly better before when the New Republic was only implied to be incompetent. They had a chance to turn it around, bring up the villains instead of dragging down the heroes. But they decided to double down. After 6 movies, everything the galaxy fought for is a complete and utter failure. It doesn't even matter if the sequel trilogy is retconned since these new shows are still messes.
