Jeff if you think about it, how many times have you seen this play out in your own life . I have seen similar incidents time and time again. I have accidentally overheard people in ministry saying horrible things about their sheep. In one instance I was sitting on the grass leaning against a wooden park bench 2 pastor’s who had set up a softball game between their churches. Walked up and leaned against the opposite side of the bench and started talking. I won’t repeat what they said but it was extremely inappropriate language and they also described several females anatomy. I’ve heard talk like this before but usually it’s in a bar, I was just a invited guest not a Christian at the time. But as I look back, scheming, backbiting, gossip, pride- is still strong in many churches

If Adonijah had taken David's concubine as his wife it would have shown he was the legit king that is why he was killed. A more and deeper explanation is needed here for the truth of the seriousness of what Adonijah was doing. Solomon didn't just kill him for something frivalis it was a very deliberate and wicked threat against him being king.

Yes... taking one's father's wife... or concubine... was tantamount to announcing ''I am now in charge!'' Curses came to those who did this. Noah's son, Ham tried it... and the son that was born of such an act (Canaan) was cursed to be a servant of servants to his (half) brothers.

You're right Absalom was a prime example of this situation. Because he tried the same thing on David. And when he got caught because he had no leg to stand on. He thought he'd be slick and brought his requests upon BathSheba before the king Solomon. And he was already wise to it. So he was like nu-uh. Not gonna have a repeat of a long term problem like his father David had. So he knew what happened with his brother and his father before him. And he knew that it was going to be a long drug out cycle round and round routine. And he just knew there was nothing but iniquity in his heart. So he just nipped it in the bud. And he didn't want a repeat routine cycle like his father had. You can't win with people like that. Just plotting and scheming and not only going against his own brother. But against his own father's will and wishes. And in saying that going against even the father who matters most our heavenly Father. And people that are willing to take a stand and go against even the will of God. And choosing themselves over the very will of God. Because God chose Solomon himself also. But those people that are willing to go against God's will. And to put their choices and their lives before God. They're selfish and it's never going to work. Kind of like our government if you think about it. They don't respect the will of God. Or even the word and the laws of God. And if it was up to them we'd all be living in captivity as slaves in bondage. And we wouldn't have any free will at all. And that's one reason Jesus Christ came here to earth. He came here to set the captives free. And to pave us all a road that leads to a home for us with him in heaven amen.

In the movie Solomon and Sheba, Solomon was played by Yul Brynner and Adonijah was played by George Sanders. Both actors had played villains in Cecil B. DeMille biblical epics. Yul Brynner played Ramses II in The Ten Commandments (1956) and George Sanders played the Saran of Gaza from Samson and Delilah (1949). Thought I'd share that neat little tidbit.

In those days, when a new king claims the throne,he would claim all of the former kings wives and concubines,it was a symbol of their power and authority,It was like asking Solomon to give up his throne,it was a sign of disrespect and a warning that signaled he would never stop trying to take over

@@derickwyckoff1788 exactly as you said and moreover, a good example is absalom who God punished David and foretold him that a son of his own loins will sleep with his wives on public, so when absalom usurped the throne as GOD's punishment to David was, he slept with his father's wives to confirm that he is the king. And that's why when David was restored to the throne he no longer slept with his wives that absalom had defiled.

Try this prayer Brenda, Dear Jesus in Heaven, I have been your faithful servant for many years, I have tried to follow all your rules and it has caused a lot of conflict with other people during my life. I have been abused, ridiculed and have lost a lot of friends when I nagged and pestered them to join me in my hourly prayers to you, a lot of them became hostile when I pointed out that they, and their children were going to roast in Hell forever if they didn't become as rabid as myself. Now I am unemployed and behind in the rent because of you and I feel that you owe me something for leading a life of abstention and dedication. I am not asking for much, just the same deal you have given to all the famous Preachers such as Billy Graham, Benny Hinn, Joyce Meyer, Creflo Dollar, Kenneth Copeland etc, large mansions, expensive cars, servants, private jet aircraft and so on. One way this could be achieved would be if you arranged for me to win the New York Lottery, $100 million would be very nice and if you find it in your heart to make this possible I will gladly donate five dollars to the church of your choice. Yours in love and hopefulness Lord Jesus, the maker of cute little animals and lovely sunsets. AMEN

Abishag, was David’s Wife in his old age. She wasn’t just his nurse. Sleeping with your Father’s Wife was against the Laws. But it also was a sign of usurping authority over his father’s household if he slept with her. That is what Absalom did.

Did the Bible say that she had been David's wife; if not, how did Adonijah's request for the nurse maid to be his wife suggest to Solomon that he wanted to be king? Was she David's maid or was she his widow??? 1 Kings 1:4 notes that David did not engage in sexual intercourse with her. This makes no sense. I could understand if the woman had been one of David's former wives it would have been inappropriate, but as the story is told, this is just another unjustified killing driven by paranoia. A typical middle eastern palace intrigue and murder story.

David lost favor with God....because of the many wives...all his brother asked for was a woman in marriage....but Solomon did not even give him that. Bathshebah is weird....She knew David was watching when she was bathing on the roof...cmon....she played David...and her husband very well....and she wanted her son to be king....cause she "loved" David...she loved power....had no problem stepping over...another woman to get to what she wanted.....40 years in the desert with Moses....taught nothing the Jews....because they love jumping beds...that's why Moses did not enter Jerusalem....because it was never....a city of peace. The 10 commandments although simple....who gets them....even Today....except 1....the only one...the crucified one....clean on all 10...the spirit of the Father is in the spirit of the Son...said in holy spirit...Amin( true). Our Father hates sin. But our Father is forgiving if we repent. This is in our hands. The interesting thing about Solomon is: We are still dealing with the ramifications of what Solomon established to this very day! { 1 Kings 11:1 KJV } But king *Solomon LOVED many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;* { 1 Kings 11:2 KJV } *Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, YE SHALL NOT GO INTO THEM, NEITHER SHALL THEY COME INTO YOU:* for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: *SOLOMON CLAVE UNTO THESE IN LOVE.* { 1 Kings 11:4 KJV } For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and *his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.* { 1 Kings 11:5 KJV } *For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.* { 1 Kings 11:6 KJV } And *SOLOMON DID EVIL evil in the sight of the LORD, AND WENT NOT FULLY AFTER THE LORD,* as did David his father. { 1 Kings 11:7 KJV } *Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.* { 1 Kings 11:8 KJV } And likewise did he for all his strange wives, *which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.* Molech, is associated with BAAL later and Molech and Moloch is the same in scripture. Molech is associated with CHILD SACRIFICE! Still going on today! { Amos 5:26 KJV } *But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch* and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves. { Acts 7:43 KJV } *Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan,* figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon. The beginning of the carnal kingdom! WHEN? { Matthew 21:42 KJV } Jesus saith unto them, *Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected,* the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? *{ Matthew 21:43 KJV } Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.* Asking the right questions is of utmost importance! WHEN DID THE BUILDERS REJECT THE STONE? { 1 Samuel 8:5 KJV } And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: *now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.* { 1 Samuel 8:7 KJV } *And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: FOR THEY HAVE NOT REJECTED THEE, BUT THEY HAVE REJECTED ME, THAT I SHOULD NOT REIGN OVER THEM.* { 1 Samuel 8:10 KJV } And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king. 1 Samuel 8:11-18 ( Samuel tells them all the things a king would do and that is what Solomon did ) { 1 Samuel 8:19 KJV } *Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;* { 1 Samuel 8:20 KJV } *That we also may be like all the nations;* and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles. *The same Lord who spoke this to Solomon:* { 1 Kings 11:9 KJV } And *the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel,* which had appeared unto him twice, { 1 Kings 11:10 KJV } And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: *but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.* { 1 Kings 11:11 KJV } *Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon,* Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, *I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.* *The same Lord that spoke that Solomon also spoke this here:* { Matthew 21:42 KJV } Jesus saith unto them, *Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected,* the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? *{ Matthew 21:43 KJV } Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.* Did Solomon turn? It's story time! Once upon a time there was a certain king who stood in opposition to God and God's will seeking to kill or destroy a chosen servant of God. *His name was. Well let us read!* { Matthew 2:12 KJV } And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to *HEROD,* they departed into their own country another way. { Matthew 2:13 KJV } And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and *flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.* { Matthew 2:14 KJV } When he arose, *he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:* { Matthew 2:15 KJV } And was there *UNTIL THE DEATH OF HEROD:* that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son. *Wait a minute, let me start the story again:* Once upon a time there was a certain king who stood in opposition to God and God's will seeking to kill or destroy a chosen servant of God. His name was, well let us read! { 1 Kings 11:40 KJV } *SOLOMON sought therefore to kill Jeroboam.* And *Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt,* unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt *UNTIL THE DEATH OF SOLOMON.* I cover on my channel just how deep it goes comparing scripture with scripture. ( Solomon lost the 10 tribes of Israel whom Jesus came for and Solomon gave God's land of Galilee away and Jesus spoke from the sea for the lost sheep of house of Israel. Solomon sent ships on the sea for carnal merchandise rather then sharing God's spiritual merchandise. Thus why Jesus taught from a ship on the sea of Galilee ). GB

That responsibilities usually lay on the shoulders of godly women if their husbands are busy about God's business . Proverbs 10:1 says a wise son makes a glad father but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother. If you look through scriptures all godly kings has godly mothers and all evil Kings had evil mothers.

We are told in 2 Sam. 12:24-25 that when Solomon was born, God placed His favor on _this_ particular son. Solomon is the son that God wanted to work through, as all of David's other sons clearly demonstrated through their disrespect for David and his office that they were never fit to be king.

So it doesn't matter what's wrong or right? As long as u suck up to the king/authority/parents. As long as u get their favor, u are ok. Even though adonijah was the older brother and should have rightfully been the king. But he doesn't know how to suck up to the king, so it didn't matter if he was in the right. For me, i would rather die than suck up to another person, even if they were my parents. I've never sucked up to anyone my whole life. I don't do that shit. Why anyone would want to become king back in those bloody days of palace intrigues, etc. is beyond me. Solomon did give his half-brother a chance to smarten up but it seems he was still ambitious. One could think that Adonijah really loved the girl (remember she was selected for her youth & beauty) and his father David had no sexual relations with her BUT as Solomon was very wise, he obviously suspected or knew what his half-brother was up to. They didn't mince words back then. Solomon had him killed. I'd simply have banished him from the kingdom but what do I know ... 😊

It is just part of the curse of what David did. God let the him suffer the consequences of his actions. When parents or leaders failed to set examples it is hard to discipline your kids and subordinates because they will point back your past mistakes. You commit crimes who are you to stop them from committing crimes also? That was why God was so strict with the Israelites and to the leaders he appointed.

@@louislynch1590 This is a ritual for invoking the spirit of Lord Ahriman so that he might advise you on the correct path for your life, One Gideons Bible, twenty whole bay leaves, four large candles, strong incense, twelve devotees and at least one novice. This invocation must be performed after dusk, Burn the incense and light the candles, take eleven pages from the Bible and tear into small pieces then mix with the crushed bay leaves, place these in a porcelain dish and light, everyone forms a circle around the burning dish, holding hands they repeat the following prayer until there is a sign or appearance. O Great Ahriman Keeper of the dark, Tonight we will enter into the rituals with the hope of opening a portal and invoking your spirit to enter and impart some of your deep and profound wisdom upon us, we offer our bodies and our minds in gratitude for the joys of life you have given to the faithful, we make the offering of blood, salt and water, we sing and chant your prayers as you appear to each of us in your glory. It was just political maneuvering what Nathan did and got Bathsheba in it. There was no standard succession laws. David’s stole Saul’s throne and had it stolen for a time by his son Absalom. Salomon found an excuse to kill his brother, as he had for Joab, the captain of the guard, who didn’t side with him
@seunomole610

David never did such, he didn't steal Saul's throne. David was appointed to succeed Saul because he was a better man. David was rightly anointed by prophet Samuel to be King. Saul lost the throne through disobedience to the instructions of the Almighty GOD has stated by prophet Samuel. Please go read the scriptures for confirmation.

@@seunomole610 I have read the whole Bible and it is very biased, as nearly all ancient documents are, in favor of David. David wasn’t any more righteous than Saul- I mean he got a man killed to cover his adultery and resulting pregnancy. I mean, the writers of Samuel (not Samuel, btw) needed an excuse to claim that David was the legitimate ruler

That was never the practice, as God usually selected who would be the successors. God told David that Solomon would be his successor, which is why David named him as the next king. We see this again where Jehoahaz was selected to succeed Josiah, despite the fact that he was the youngest son.

How did Adonijah's request for the nurse maid to be his wife suggest to Solomon that he wanted to be king? Was she David's maid or was she his widow??? This makes no sense. I could understand if the woman had been one of David's former wives it would have been inappropriate, but as the story is told, this is just another unjustified killing driven by paranoia.
