Greg was dumb. He could have kept the gold, the luck, and his soul by wishing that no leprechaun could ever harm another person in any fashion ever again. That way, if Shamus tried to steal his soul at that point, the wish would stop him. He also could have used a similar argument with the first wish when his dad lost his job by pointing out to Shamus that causing his dad to have bad luck and lose his job was bad luck for the entire family including him and thus a violation of the first wish.

@@kingnusmiMight not have worked; Seamus explains that magic is about balance, so wishing for leprechauns to not hurt humans, while it could spare your soul, it would not prevent the bad consequences that the wishes generate. In the best case scenario, humans are fine, but animals and nature would suffer instead, which could have catastrophic consequences for the planet, and by extension humanity, as a whole

@@Mathee it would depend on what the leprechauns do with human souls. If they use them as food, then balance would kill off the leprechauns. No other harm to nature. If they use it to reproduce, same thing. If they use them to power their magic, then they become mundane creatures, almost humans themselves. It does also depend on what else leprechauns do in nature as to what effect that would have.

I had a friend that was Irish and, even though they didn’t necessarily believe in leprechauns or the fae, they never took any chances because they could make your life really difficult if you pissed them off. I’d recommend looking into fairy lore, it’s really interesting

I'm late but this was a cool episode. The twist is definitely interesting and though the tale is pretty standard Leprechaun stuff it was still off putting especially with the ending. Also since you asked about them, leprechaun are a type of fae/fairy creature, so yeah they can do some crazy shiz (whether they can do all the stuff stated here no idea, but they're as fae as any other).

Was going to say "I wish you couldn't collect my soul or the soul of anyone I know" but then Seamus just gets another Leprechaun to do it. Wishing that no Leprechaun could collect his soul would likely just get Seamus to send something else to do it. Wishing that nothing could collect his soul would turn around hard on him as now he can't die, but will grow old but never die, or worse just inhabit a corpse.

That's one thing I can't stand. A relative from the past makes a deal with the devil that they can have the soul of their future kid or some shyt like that. Plot twist, the fit dependent DID NOT make an any deal. So therefore the devil isn't aloud to take the future decent's soul. Think about it! He'll, even I'll tell the devil to "Stop! I personally never made a deal with you! Therefore, I do not give you permission to take my soul!". Know what I mean?
