The parents still got away too easily. Besides punishing him for things they knew he didn't do like the cake or the syrup they also let him live in fear for his and their life. They deserve to sleep in a doghouse during an especially hard winter. Also MC is a real bro and spends his "luck" with Chuck. He didn't forget who was actually there for him in his darkest hour.

Yeah that has to be some form of abuse. Definitely the worst parent in the show.

What I like about this ep is that I take the whole “parents know but are hiding it” trope we see such as in the clown ep of the haunting hour and turns it around and have it be that they have to deal with the problem while the kid gets to reap the rewards

So wait- why does the creature only bother whoever is the nursery? Why is that the only place it wants to be taken care of from? I just assumed the creature wanted to mess with the kid specifically for some reason- maybe I'm missing something but that confuses me a little

Honestly, this might make me aan asshole but i love the ending. The boy finally gets a good ending, and the parents are rightly punished by having to take care of their gross syrup baby. Honestly, it's one of the best episodes, in my opinion

And today's lesson is: "Mmmmmmmm that's good Blackmail."

This episode is spooky, but it has a satisfying end here without any casualties. It has a nice build up and a plot twist ending where the parents knew all along that the house has a monster living there and they treated their son like he's just being whiny and uncomfortable being in a new house. Which we thought it's gonna be the usual stick here where it's up to the kid(s)to kill or banish the monster or something. In the end, the kid has a satisfying end where he gets his parents bedroom while the parents get his bedroom where the Kelement would beg for more syrup. That'll teach the parents on how they treated their son in this episode just for their sake. Great review and summary here. Keep up the great work and take care.

This episode reminds me of the movie Bad Ronald. In that movie, instead of a creature being in the wall, it's a person. There was this teenager who got picked on. And then one day he accidentally kills this girl who was making fun of him. So his mom hides him in the walls of the house so the police don't catch him. But the mother has health issues and eventually dies. He's still in the walls and a new family moves in.

I know exactly what Goosebumps episode you should check out. It's called Monster Blood. It's a total classic. Basically,two kids finds some Monster Blood to play with and it causes a disaster. The second one is a direct sequel to the first one instead of being based on the book as it was originally intended,sadly changed due to low budget and things like that.

There’s 2 episodes you should definitely check out one is “checking out” and the other “detention “ both of them are very dark and detention being one of the darkest of the series! Highly recommend

I actually liked how this episode subverted my expectations the first time I watched it. In all the episodes before it something scary actually happens, so when they introduced the concept of something living in the walls I thought it was gonna be scary. I wasn't expecting the ending which made me laugh.

I would be interested in seeing a video about Swarmin Norman since I've always considered it a very interesting episode of the series

This was the first Haunting Hour episode I watched as a kid, and it immediately signaled to me that this show was Goosebumps for slightly braver kids. I however was not a slightly braver kid and could barely make it past the theme song with that red eyed monster under the bed.

Really? lol this is the show where they made an ice cream truck menacing and they couldn't make an episode with a monster living in the fucking walls scary? How? lol

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought those parents were shitheads. At a certain point it should've been obvious to anyone who gave a crap about their kid that he's found out about the monster; either then, or preferably earlier when they were moving in and it should've been obvious that he'd find it eventually, any responsible parents would've told him what was going to be happening and why. Them keeping him in the dark the whole time, especially about stuff like the cake which they knew where the secret door was so it should've been obvious that the monster ate it... That was all just a supremely dick move that made the kid think he was losing his mind for no reason. Did the parents even care that their son thought he was solely responsible for keeping them safe? Which, again, I remind you, threatening the parents and not telling him the truth accomplished nothing. He knew; his parents knew. Letting him keep thinking his parents were in danger and didnt know it was pointless.

i watched this episode and then the episode of lost tapes with the i think vampire watching the kid sleep shortly befor or after but anyway i was so traumatized by people living in the walls i would have panic attacks about people being under my bed or in my walls that my parents had too put my mattress on the floor and take the door of my closet for me too sleep my mom even had my clothes put in a dresser and in her closet becasue it had to be empty

Nah these parents might be some of the worst parents in media. They might even beat out Buck Cluck from chicken little and that's saying something. They really went " oh yeah, we're going to move into this house with a terrifying creature that will give us good luck as long as we don't tell too many people. But instead of giving up an ounce of that good fortune to warn our son and maybe placing his room NOT directly where the creature is we're gonna let the creature terrify our son and gaslight him about the freaky shit going on and blame our kid for everything the creature causes." And on top of everything when it could sound like maybe the creature is harming their son they choose to save the monster all because they don't want to give up any of the good fortune they were getting Like these parents take selfish to a whole new level
