The ship has a Portuguese flag (it's registered in Portugal), it's owned by a German company and operated by a Canadian company, which is extremely shady to say the least. The original story stated that the cruise ship rammed the Venezuelan navy ship, left the spot and didn't help the naufrage (which is mandatory as seen by the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea). The story was clearly covered up, it wasn't just overlooked because of COVID-19. It would result in a lower crime rate. What are people going to shoot up buildings with now? Airsoft guns? Crime would go down. David Hemenway conducted a study on gun use in self-defense cases for Harvard. To quote him, "The average person has basically no chance in their lifetime ever to use a gun in self-defense, but every day, they have a chance to use the gun inappropriately. They have a chance, they get angry. They get scared." So I ask you: How would crime increase of the government revoked the second amendment? To make it clear here while I don't believe we should have the second amendment I do believe that it's revokation won't ever actually come to pass. I think the best we can do is a Japanese-style gun control system where we have rigorous tests and annual safety classes to make sure that if you really want a gun you need to be stable enough to be allowed one. That way you can still have your guns but you have to be proven sane enough to hold one.
