To add to the New Zealand lockdown over one COVID case: Since that case that was detected 2 weeks ago, over 500 new cases have come from it. The lockdown restrictions come in 4 levels, with 1 being quite similar to normal life, while level 4 means the large majority of buisnesses are fully closed and physical contact with people outside of your household could get you arrested. Auckland and everywhere North of Auckland is in level 4 for another 2 weeks while everywhere South of Auckland have the luxury of being in level 3 (pretty much level 4 but with fast food drive-thrus open). The Government go through every single case and pinpoint where that case has been for the last 14 days. They then make this list of timestamped locations public on the Government website. Lastly, all buildings and other public spaces have QR codes somewhere which we scan via an app to mark our locations. The app also scans other phones using bluetooth in case you get in close contact with a yet to be covid case. With all of this said, we have a lot of good measures in place to kick this virus right in it's teeth. We'll be just fine. My prayers are out to you all, stay safe.

As a hong kong citizen, thankyou for the coverage. As of now, its futile to combat for the sake of hong kong, and the best option for locals is to cut their losses and immigrate. Immigration is still readily avalible as always, as its too soon for china to forcefully ban people to immigrate. The best we can do is to hope for the fall of the CCP entirely, which is already showing weakness in the form of the 3 child policy and the "laying flat" of chinese netizen(basically doing the absolute minimum to survive, which also acts as a form of striking by not even being employed). Right now, China is living on borrowed time. I don't know who you talked to from Romania, but they exaggerated quite a lot the story. What rights is he talking about? The referendum on traditional family we had a few years ago did not pass, so to my knowledge no serious action was taken against them. He tried to reach out to Romanian media to no avail? Of course. Because nobody would watch that stuff and there'd be a lot of backlash. The media (in our country at least) wants viewership, and there would be close to none on this matter. He is kind of right about being seen like a fairy-tail creature tho. Interest in LGBT was never a priority, and the approach of "out of sight, out of mind" is the most common. I seriously doubt the part of "being threatened with my life in a restaurant" has much weight to it, tho. Sure, you'd make people feel weird, maybe even get an orthodox lady to want to teach you the gospel, but "Threatened with my life"? Seems exclusively for dramatic purposes. "Somebody might attack us"? like who? Cuz especially in bigger cities like Cluj or Bucuresti nobody would give a flying.. you know.. about you. Quite the contrary. They'd most likely want NOTHING to do with you. And let's say that some overzealous cleric tries to show you what's what, the current church doesn't really want much of "that" press, since they want to be seen as stern, not hysteric. I can't speak much for the police ignorance part, because I don't have much to do with them. What is most likely tho, is the fact that he might have tried to preach the gospel of wokeness, and that stuff really gives you a bad rep. As I mentioned, the "out of sight, out of mind" mentality is currently in full effect regarding this issue, but when someone tries to force ideologies like those there is inevitably a response. We are quite suckers for more traditional values, so when someone pushes things like "a lady dressed like a freaking devil teaching children sex" they are quite frowned upon. And btw, in this I tried staying away from religious reasons, even tho @85% of the country is orthodox cristian and the rest being mostly variations (like roman/greek catholic). So yeah, do what you will with this info, but please don't try to paint us as some backward hillbilly nation for views, especially since you seem to know close to nothing about us.

Eastern EU has been anti-gay for pretty much forever due to the communism. Sure romania has not been under communism for 30+ years, but todays grandparents, parents, and to a certain degree, most adults over 20 have the same anti-gay ideals that have been present during the communism period. Unfortunately, I think it is going to take more than 15+ years to get to the level of acceptance like the western EU. As a person who has been here for only 17 years, let me tell you that the people accepting LGBT members is a small minority. In june there was an anti-gay parade in Timisoara if im not mistaken.
