WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use KZfaqs lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and KZfaq deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

This...this is the kind of homage i like to see. brushed case sides with a chamfered edge, female endlinks, no date, domed crystal, on the fly adjust. Bravo SM, bravo.

I used to work on a cargo ship that would occasionally take a load of titanium ore. Very interesting stuff, the raw ore coming out of the ground from that mine was about 80% metal. The ore chunks were about the size of an adult fist and had a kind of dull shiny appearance. Although titanium is known to be a lightweight metal, when it was loaded into the ship it appeared to take up much less space in the holds than the equivalent load (30 000 tons) of iron ore pellets.

I like it! Especially the glossy enamel dial! It's still an homage but it moves a step away from the original with its female end links and the domed crystal. For there is no need to replace tried and tested stainless steel with scratch prone titanium unless the use hardening coating. They should use NH38 movements on no date watches instead.

Wow, absolutely love that clasp. Nice one Gary. 👏👏👏 NH35 is a good solid movement and I've become ok with the ghost position. NH38 would be nice but it wouldn't stop me if I like the watch.

Wow! This is a stunner! I predict that this will be one of San Martin's best sellers ever. The clasp, the sword hands option, even the titanium will be very desirable and I think they've got a winner here. Too bad I'm not in the market for a dive watch right now, or I'd be pulling out the credit card!

I bought one of their earlier grade 5 titanium watches. The finishing was great 👍. Quality was totally worth the money. Even the strap they put on was very quality.

I love how symmetrical it is. I have a couple of San Martin Milsubs, an SN006 and SN004 that I love. The good thing is I could get the titanium one and my wife won’t be able to tell that I bought another watch. 🤭

It would also be nice if in the near future they offer one of there 38mm submariner models in Titanium as well as the newer more modern maxi case version they plan on coming out soon too. I think both sizes would take care of everyone, the ones that are slightly outsized in the 40mm/41mm models. SM are already making Slimmer more appropriate sized BB Pro etc so Titanium Submariner seems like a no brainer and one equipped with the NH35 would make it a solid, reliable light Tank of a watch and would be priced better across the board and would be a very good GADA!!!

@@ilikewatches thank you. I will have a look at their newer stuff. The big boys really need to catch up with micro adjust on the fly. And I have to say that san Martin one sounded smoother than my Christopher Ward micro adjust so I’m quite interested to try it.

I like titanium as a material and all things being equal would choose titanium. It has a tendency to scratch, though. Citizen has their proprietary Super-titanium and there are watches like Sinn and Damasko that use the most scratch resistant Titanium. It would be interesting to see titanium watches actually scratch tested to see which holds up better.

A good question. I do dive myself and have a Seiko titanium diver with hardened diashield coating and it's scratched to bits now, mostly from undersea pebbles, bits of coral, hitting the occasional metal strut from shipwrecks etc. The coating wears off over time. Stainless steel is better if you don't want to baby your watch constantly, but it's nice to have if you're careful.

Citizen's "proprietary Super Titanium" is just a garden variety Ti Nitride coating on the exterior surface that is applied via a vapor deposition process. It's regularly used on all kinds of products to give surface hardness and comes in lots of color options. Those gold colored "Titanium" drill bits are steel with a Ti Nitride coating on them.

It clicks on almost all buttons as an homage of a well known diver. That clasp is a huge improvement and places this watch at the level of some more expensive Swiss made homages of the same super expensive diver. But I'm waiting for an eventual V2 so I can have my own logo on the dial ...

Absolutely fantastic looking watch. Having had the titanium watch, a Citizen Promaster, I would probably avoid it on a dive watch. I see titanium as a great dress watch material. I always wonder why dress watches don't have titanium instead of divers and field watches. The hardened coatings don't work very well. If you intend to use the watch as it's intended stay away from titanium unless you don't mind the scratches.

What about the rehault? San Martin rehault is usually too high and too visible. Cronos rehault is usually a lot better, less high, less visible.

You can fix that alignment by dipping it in some acetone to soften the glue then push the insert into place. Once the acetone evaporates the glue hardens again.

Oh sh!t, no. The Acetone can dissolve the gaskets. I had that on a 5KX. Took off the bezel insert and all the gaskets exeunt stage left. Be careful with that.

Hi Gary. Brave of SM to go no date and produce such a clean and simple dial, but the detail like the bezel should be spot on as a result. I’ve been umming and ahhing over the Steeldive Willard all week, should I scratch the itch or not?

It’s good, the steeldive….very good value actually…they are prone to some qc weaknesses but get a good one and they are amazing…

Better without a signed rehaut. The only reason some other makes do that is to make copying harder. Signed rehaut makes no functional or aesthetic sense, especially on a tool watch.

I hope Cronos is considering that! I would buy one of their Deep Sea homages in Titanium in a heart beat! After Gary sent his watch to the Hydraulic Press Channel and I saw how great they were, I had to have one. I now own four of them in every color. The faded blue to black dial being my favorite! This would be a great watch in Titanium!

Is the NH 38 a lot more expensive. Is this why few manufacturers don't use it. I have a Zebec Corsair with this movement and it seemed a reasonable price. I do miss the date sometimes. Great video and very nice watch.👍

OMG, I need that clasp. I just purchased an SN0006 and an SN017 with the standard micro adjust clasp, and since I live in a very humid and hot country, I really need to keep adjusting my bracelets all the time. Do you know if they are going to sell them separately? I asked using the Aliexpress messaging system, but they usually don't respond to me. Can you please ask them and let me know? Thanks! UPDATE!!! They just replied, and they are selling it in the future YESSSSSSS!!!

I don't like Ti at all, makes the watches feel cheap, something about the light weight, they scratch super easy too, idk, if anything I would love they got W for the added density, but I think it's too hard to work with so it may never happen

Featherweight watches are 100% not my thing. And I’d be surprised if they sell all that well because I don’t know anyone who does crave a chunky watch that feels like a dress watch on. Paradoxical clash of desires. The crystal is quite nice though.

What watch looks like this. What watch is built like this. What capacity of lume. Hands have multiple hands configs. Choice is when you ask san martin to build your watch. More Craftmade than most others. I love all my Chinese watches. They are mostly just right for the price paid. I love the next few months. Capacity faults me to cheap time pieces. But it's the flavor guys. Learn more about watches.

@@nintendokings There's far cheaper watches with far, far better bezel movement and alignment from supposed lesser brands so I don't think it's much of an ask. Easily pleased = the perfect target.

I've never been attracted to the submariner watch. It seems to me that it is played out. To me it feels like you are trying too much to get on the hype train to have the one with a crown on the dial. I love all watch homages but this one is one I refuse to buy.
