We finally returned to the very first city that I visited in Poland back in 2011. And because I was so impressed with this city, I figured the rest of Poland looks more or less scenic. I wasn't wrong.
Ultimately, that first impression of Poland played a huge role in our decision to choose the country as our home after Ukraine.

@@bekaga120 biased question. I am the father of 4 children and I know from experience that it is a joyful period for everyone, but a hard one for a woman. I like the moment when the baby starts to walk the most. the problem is small when he starts to speak. and my favorite moment is when a child says for the first time, 'get lost'.

You life in one city whole life and you used to it. Everything is known, borring, old etc. And then one day some American comes to it and pointed how amaizing and unusuall it is. Then you start to realize that what you have in your city is not common in the world, it is not something you should be shame of but rather proud of it! Thats the one of the major benefit this chanel gives to your life. Thanks for that! Life long in Poland!

Thanks for reminding me how beautiful this city is. Visited couple of years ago while living in England. Some things like Ostrów Tumski very similar to Wrocław. Highly recommend to visit. I lived there for 9 years. Now moving with family to Gdańsk from England in the summer. For me it's a better place which we only know from holidays. I am surprised you exchanged Gdańsk for Warszawa. Good luck and maybe see you one day in Poland.

I've been to Krakow 2009 and Gdansk 2018 and it really is a beautiful country! Hopefully I will visit Jelenia Góra some day, my grandma was born/grew up there but at that time it was a part of Germany and she had to leave after the war (ended up as a refugee in Sweden where she still lives). Great to see you guys visiting Poznań! Solid Tier 1 city in Poland, in my opinion. BTW: booking apartments within the historic city center usually means some trade-offs. You're gonna be close to where the action is, at the same time overall standard of building and apartments will most likely be on the low side - it's difficult to do major overhauls in the old neighborhood.

I love Poznań. It’s a very nice, friendly, hipster city. You have cobblestone streets in the middle of the old city. Poznań has a special type of croissaints: Rogale świętomarcinskie and a day dedicated to them: Dzień Świetego Marcina (Saint Martin’s Day on 11.11. You saw Malta Lake and Cytadela Park. The military equipment was in the Independence Museum. Marina speaks Polish well. You are learning fast too. The most important thing is that when you speak Polish it sounds natural.

Love Poznan as well. The zoo you passed by is absolutely amazing as well in the summer, they have an IMMENSE elephantarium, so if one travels with kids it’s pretty amazing to see. Areas around Poznan are also quite nice, Wielkopolska region has a lot of beautiful woods and lakes to offer while it’s mostly rolling grass plains - there is a mind blowing castle with a gorgeous Park nearby called Kurnik (30 min by rented car, you can easily rent cars by minutes with the Panek app) …. It is so peaceful, beautiful, full of history and just delightful that I recommend a second go over there. I strongly recommend.

Try burgers in Whisky in the jar at the main market square (if it still exists). People from Poznan are called in Poland "pyry" because of their love of potatoes. Pyra means potato in the regional language. Biedronka was established in Poznan:-) Here was the headquarters. In fakt Żabka as well. By the same guy who used to be kind of criminal. He was establishing the concepts of building the first hundreds of outlets and selling to foreign investors.

If you enjoyed the park in Poznań, you should go to Pole Mokotowskie in Warsaw - despite the name (field) it is also a huge park with similar ambience. Less impressive and historical than Łazienki, but perfect for just walking and chilling, grabbing a bite at a bar, enjoying yourselves and slowing down. And it's close to your Ochota place too! And if you are in a mood to see more old planes and military equipment, just walk around Muzeum Wojska Polskiego, which is smack in the city centre, and in a lovely park too :-)

I LOLed when I heard your guide's depiction of Drzymała :D. He confused two different stories from the partitions. One is Września, and the children strike. The kids were protesting against the germanization, which resulted in beatings, arrests etc. The second in Drzymała and his famous wagon. The guy bought a piece of land and he was refused the possibility to build a house on it. So he went to court, and he was losing the legal battle, so he put his wagon on the land since it was legal for Polish people to have mobilities, but not immobilities. Each day he would meticuously move his wagon so that the authorities see it's still mobile, and not a home. His protest brought him fame but it was ultimately futile; he had to sell his land and buy a different parcel with the house already in place. But his struggle is a symbol of fighting the partitioning powers, too.

The thing with Poland is it was split during partitions between three occupiers form 123years Wielkopolska and Pomerania was under Prussian/German rule, Mazowsze, Lubelskie, Łódzkie and all former eastern lands that are now in Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania was under Russian rule, while Małopolska, Podkarpacie and western part of Ukraine (Lviv area) was under Austro-Hungarian rule. So each got its own separate flavor mixing what was Polish with what occupiers brought with them. Then there are special cases like Silesia which separated from Poland in middle ages ruled by Silesian Piasts that brought Germanic settlers but at end of middle ages it became part of Czechia then when Habsburgs took over Czechia it became Austrian rule then Austria and Prussia fought war and Austria lost Silesia to Prussia so it really is region with separate history and culture. Kashubia is other such region while being in Pomerania and under Prussian rule for long it still has its original inhabitants - Kaszubi/Kaszebe that have not only own language but even alphabet. And then we have "lands regained" our western lands that we got wfter WW2 and that briefly in history was part of Poland in early/mid middle ages most of original inhabitants got moved to Germany and Poles mainly from eastern lands came a lot of Lviv citizens like my grandmother came to Wrocław, while people from Vilnus came to Stettin. But the mixing of Poles from every region was so big that while in rest of Poland you can get regional dialects like in wielkopolska people from lower silesia, western pomerania speak "purest" form of Polish with traditions mixed from whole Poland.

50:23 I don't remember what was there 11 years ago, but I suspect you did not mean that place when marking that location. I suspect that you meant the Okrąglak building view, which is pretty unique one (you can see it in your video just a couple of seconds before you say where the marker was). It was kind of shopping mall in communist times, whole city went there to buy some goods like clothes etc. My father boutght a motocycle there even and the motocycles were sold at the top floor (sic!) back then. There is a beautifull spiral staircase insid of the building and a couple of elevators served by elevator men back then. You entered the elevator and told the man where you want to go, and he was operating the elevator. Nowadays it was changed to office building, a pretty nice one. I guess 11 years ago it was in transformation to office space or it was stil a dying shopping maill.
