Thank you for making me feel, "normal." I just recently started my woodworking journey, and all I can swing, right now is pallet wood. You're 100 % correct that it's WAY too easy to let the sensationalized elitism of some social media presences, make you feel bad or "less than" by using pallets. But I've already tapped into something new, in my heart, with woodworking, and I truly appreciate your positivity and words of encouragement. Thank you, again.

Hey Mark I just want to say thank you, between you and Jasper i have learned soooo much and am taking the first step in just getting started. I've already started collecting and breaking down pallets. I have watched just about all of your videos and many of which i have watched over and over again. I love all the work you do with pallets and i honestly love seeing you mess up on projects. It helped me realized how its okay to mess up on projects and has helped me realize that i can work on my own projects as well. I just glued up my first small slab this weekend about 1 3/4" thick. Need to make a few adjustments but it was very satisfying to do. So thank you for everything you do and hopefully here soon ill be starting a channel as well showing off some of the unique ideas i have for pallet projects.

Mark - a few weeks ago I spent my lawnmowing money on a brand new table saw thanks to your "Just get started" video. Because it was my own cash the Manager couldn't say anything. Then a shedload of applets appeared on local Ebay which got trailered home. I've just been on holiday in Italy so am about to start building stuff!. I already built a tool bench, shoe rack, bird box and bird table. Thanks a ton!

I just got started! Had a jobsite saw in my shop for a year and fired it up a few times, but it always scared the hell out of me. A few rookie mistake kickback incidents didn’t help. Wasn’t hurt though, just shit myself. Yesterday I faced my fear and got cracking making a house for the feral cats that live on our property. Biggest hurdle is not having a jointer. So I fabbed one up using a miter slot on the table saw. And holy shit it’s the best thing ever! Just turning wonky pallet wood into squared off, straight pieces… it’s damned near orgasmic!

Mark I just wanted to say thank you for all of the videos you make. I recently just bought my first house and have been tackling DIY renovations. Kitchen cabinets are on the list and intimidating to get to, however your content has made me realize how many amazing items can be made from pallet wood. This has gotten me into breaking down pallets and starting to practice with the wood. I never knew it would be as easy as it is. I'm going to build a lot of pallet projects into my house. I may even start a youtube channel of my projects.

I love everything about your work. While I don't use pallets often, I do try and make as much as I can from recycled timber for all the same reasons. Broken furniture, stuff in council cleanups, so on. You know those stakes councils use to support tree saplings along the side of the road? When the tree grows and no longer needs the stake, you think the council comes around and collects them? Of course not. The stakes end up on the footpath or in the street. So I collect them. Made a side table for my living room earlier this year out of garden stakes. And think about that; a tree grows up, is cut down with sole the destiny to become support for other trees. But before it ends up in the tip or rotting in the gutter, I step in and give it one last purpose, which is a place of honour as furniture in my house for the rest of my life.

I have only made some pine boxes for the missus to paint, so far, from the stacks of pallets I collect from solar panels. I'm off to the garage now to start stripping some pallets I've been saving. Sunday morning thicknessing seems a good payback for the neighbour's dogs keeping me awake

I just got started three years ago. Currently making an octagonal tombola for a Carnival. My very first pallet wood project was a wooden feature wall in my sons bedroom - it has colour changing backlights. He uses it every day. Did just that, I got started...! Collected pallets, started to break them down, it's tough at first as each new step is just that, new, never done by you before. Pallet buster makes it so much easier, and while I had a table saw, the thicknesser was a welcome birthday present. Latest addition was a cyclone dust extractor I made, and I'm into the first hall table. I have other things in my head to make, and I see new projects in every day settings. But the focus it to make and sell, aim to cover my costs, then carry on. Thanks for the motivation 👍

Have been looking for a hobby other than video games and thought I'd just get started. I built my work bench out of pallets, then on to a mallet, hot wheels track for the lad, and now I'm making my second bench for the thickneser i just purchased. By the way, my Mrs. is coming around to the palletwood aesthetic. She'd been skeptical for a while but after I made a computer monitor shelf for my desk, a shoe storage/bench for the mud room and a raised dog bowl holder, she actually requested a window table for her indoor herb garden. Anyway, thanks as usual for the great content and keep well.

i couldn't agree more mate. i went and spoke to a business who had an abundance of surplus pallets. there all crappy pine pallets. but not to me. if it werent for the two typs of pallets they use. i would never of just got started. i would never of built... almost built my novice build workshop. ok it is not finished as i took the winter off and didn;t get back on to it until mid spring. but that was because i got bit by my plaining during the early winter while whearing a long sleave baggy hoody and got my arm pulled into the blades. lucky it was a cheap synthetic hoody. so the fabric tore away faster than it pull my arm in so the damage was minor. still it gave me a fright. and left me with a not so keen attitude to carry on. but. i got started again. took a breath. turned on the painer thicknesser. then went for it. now my workshop isn't a fancy built workshop. as it is made from type one style pallets from the company i source them from. 960x680 framed pallets with a chip board topper. these made the floor and walls of my workshop. the boards i took off the pallets i used to make the roof and line the walls inside. then used the planks off the tye two pallets they use which are pretty standard. same size. 960x680's. with plank and block stretchers and plank tops. for the cladding outside with the top planks. putting a routered edge on opposing sides to create a ship lap look. the smaller stretcher planks are now making my wood floor inside and the type one sqare pallet frames now are becoming my work benches and wall cupboards. my workshop is madealmost made from surplus pallets. tarp as the damp layer that goes around it. i had felted the roof. but this winter the rain came in hard and burst the bitchamin seal. flooded the workshop. and soked my table saw and ceased it up. so i took it apart unceased it. but could not get it to realine back into it's original frame. see a nice table saw. great youtube reviews. and only £275 at the time i was looking into buying it. but... i'm a tight arse. hence building completly out of pallets. so i used the pallets to build a new table saw. using the guts out of the old one. used a shower curtain rail as my sled tracks. all because. when i get unmotivated due to idiotic set backs mostly of me screwing it up. i get to watching the wood working community. who inspire me to get my backside back out to the roject. not going to let it beat me. i'm a complete novice. last time i did any kind of real wood working was at school and age 12. so i thought well i could do it then so lets do it no 38 years later. hahaha. i guess yoounger me see better results than older me can produce. not giving up. novice as i am. i decided my first novice project shop be a shop for me to stop being one. nothing wrong with pallets. and those toff woodworkers who say it is not sustainable as a business plan. well... anyway. it is. free work is free wood. if your not buying it. you still get to pay for it. just not with money. little elbow grease here and ther eis nothing. besides they don't take to long to came apart with a crow bar and rubber mallet. though the denailing becomes very tedious. tap under the nail. lift the nail point up and tap it out and repeat three million times. know what i mean? but if me. a complete novice can built a solid workshop out of pallets. build a staggered shelving with a single beam mount to hold four small shelves and a central eye paice scafild plank. diamond montage picture frame (not finished). table saw and now dismantled rad cover. because i decided i could build this one better. then anyone can do it. just maintain safty awareness if your a noob to such a powerful tool as a thicknesser painer. it almost become true. once bitten. twice shy.

Mate, it's a beautiful sunny Sunday in my neck of the woods and just when I didn't think today could get any better I was able to sit on my back porch and attend the church of Dainsey! Keep preaching brother, I for one am a convert to the pallet woodworking path! BTW, amazing little piece you created there! Cheers mate!

Aloha Mark! when i first discovered pallets my health was in a bad way and so i had a very limited income.... ok i was broker than broke lol. Making something out of pallets was the only way i could afford furniture! i even reused the nails! once i made a few things i started looking for other people on the interweb for inspiration. thats when i found u! i said hey this guy is really bringing the the best out of this beat up trashed up wood! like to the next level! Followed! It was cool to see someone else on a similar journey of pallet wood discovery and ignoring all the noise from the negative head waggers and lip flappers. i started finding free broken furniture and repairing them and adding pallet wood i processed. it helped my physical and mental health and it did great things for my bank account lol. Mahalos for u being u Mark! 😄😄😄

Great video as always. Thankyou for passing on your motivation and passion for making. Not sure I would have started without you giving me the confidence to just get started. As someone who genuinely has no idea what he's doing, cheer mate. Hopefully you can make it down to the makers meetup so I can shout you a few beers ;)

One of the first videos I saw was Jasper Makes, which after a few videos led me to you. I started woodworking about 8 to 9 months ago and it was the two of you that made me start my whole woodworking journey using pallet wood. Thank you for showing me an easy way to get wood without paying for it, if it wasn't for that tidbit of information I wouldn't have been able to build the things I have due to the lack of funds to buy wood. I do however, use a mixture of pallet wood and store bought wood for my projects but it's nice to know that if I don't have the money to buy it then I can still create with pallet wood that I might not be able to purchase. Like you said, you do you! I also hope to be on KZfaq soon! I still have to figure out how to get good sound and I can't use my phone because it's full and would take days if not weeks to clear off to use, maybe eventually. I'm also waiting on a laptop that's being given to me but I'm so close to being online! You guys are amazing and I just wanted to say thank you for showing me a viable way to keep doing what I love! Stay safe and Happy Building 💯😁

You have no idea! I recently started my journey. Where’s my life is at this moment, I was breaking down to my fiancée. Lost and overwhelmed with myself. I was explaining to her how everything I am doing is so over saturated and it seems like there’s no point at times. I just gotta do me! Forget about Brian making the super resin epoxy table out of driftwood, forget John killing it with his artwork and tattoo talent, forget about all of the music artists of today. We all hold value in all we do somewhere! Just do you! I can’t wait to wake up tomorrow and get after it and forget the noise in my brain, just do me and spend time with my daughter while I finish my workbench up💪🏼 cheers for the words that weren’t necessary to come out of your mouth in this video but did more for me than you know brotha!!❤️‍🔥
