It is insane how many stories are cyclical in nature. In the video game Scorn it’s shown that you play as two characters; one who ends tragically while the second one takes the mantle of the first.

It’s one of my favorite tropes in storytelling. The Green Knight is so effective at embracing our knowledge of how stories are told.
