HI Jenna, This resin tray is lovely, but as you said, shaking it after the pour would get rid of the bubbles. However, I immediately had an idea that would make it beautiful. You could fill in the holes with gold gilding paper. Just pack it in really hard, then seal the top with a little clear nail polish, and it will look stunning! I buy urns, of all sizes, paint them, then deliberately break them into big pieces. I then put them back together with gold paper in the cracks. They are so beautiful. My favourites of the colours that I have painted them, are electric blue, teal, and black. But all colours look beautiful, and they look amazing! Make fantastic unique gifts as well.

@@laurelh1799 Hi Laurel. Well I have a not so amusing tale to tell. I've sold all that I've made, except the one I chose to keep, which is/was my favourite. To make a long story shorter, my husband knocked it over, gives new meaning to clumsy, and broke my heart. He took it to his work shed, where I thought he was gluing it back together, but when I went out to see how it was coming, I saw him using A GRINDER to smooth the surface! It may sound silly, but tears immediately filled my eyes. I do think that I may be able to salvage it, but we did have words over what I thought to be incredulous, because it's surface was was rough and porous. Anyway, if you'd like to send an email address, I'll show you a pic of the effect in the cracks, that I mean. (I do suggest that you create a throw away email address that you can delete once used). 🙂

The bottles are just beautiful! I think you might want to use some UV spray if you're going to put them in a sunny window (where of course, they'd be gorgeous!), because sunlight can fade some colored surfaces over time. The way you had them arranged, with lights & flowers, would be so cool for table decorations at a party or reception! Loved this idea!👍✨

I absolutely LOVE all of the colors in your resin tray! I’ve been wanting to do resin projects for quite some time, but I’ve always been afraid of them. Now, not so much. You make it look soooo easy. I want to try some resin jewelry projects as well. And who would have thought of drying paint on Saran Wrap? Obviously not me, lol! I’m going to, though!

If you start working with resin / epoxy be sure to wear the proper protective gear - a VOC mask (a dust / Covid mask wormy work) because once you mix the 2 parts it emits a toxic gas, and nitrile gloves (the toxins will leach through latex or vinyl, but not nitrile), and work in a well ventilated area. Epoxy is fun and not scary, if you are taking the precautions to protect your health 😊

A quick spray of 99% alcohol will also pop bubbles in the resin
@allisonavery7273

Would that do it on the bottom too?
@toughtimes6596
@toughtimes6596 2 жыл бұрын
@@allisonavery7273 Honestly, I have never tried spraying the mold before pouring but it may work. 99% alcohol evaporates pretty quick though. Mixing and pouring slowly reduces bubbles, and you can place them in a pressure pot to remove almost all of them. It removes all the air around the piece and bubbles come to top and pop. They aren't super expensive but not cheap either.
@dawsie
@dawsie 2 жыл бұрын
If you get some clear UV resin and you can fill the holes with it and placed it out in the sunshine so it will cure. The other option is placing the resin bottles into hot water before mixing this will help it to pour with less bubbles but pour from a height of around 10” this will also remove the air bubbles at the same time.

Tapping is not going to remove the air bubbles from your resin... You need a torch. Just a kitchen torch is fine but you need a torch - not a little lighter. Blowing through a straw doesn't do any good either - you need a torch.
