I am very proud right now. This project has been sitting in my backlog for 20 years and now the whole Fellowship is together, painted up on this beautiful base, and it's something I will display forever on my shelves. It was a real joy to finally place each member in their correct place, and I'm so happy to see you guys getting your old Lord of the Rings models painted as well. One thing I'd like for my collection is that scenic base. I have the plastic tomb from the old Mines of Moria starter set, so I could try making my own, but I'd rather have a big battle scene with some Goblins and the Troll. Depending on how I get on with Leviathan, I may join you and try to get my Pelennor set done. It's been in a cupboard for nearly 2 years. But the one big LotR project I want to do is to have a complete collection of models to play through the old Fall of the Necromancer campaign book, the first book I ever brought from GW. I went through my box of project models and made a list of what's there and in what condition. Just need to get Imperium finished before I can do anything else. Keep up the amazing work. I may even get some Middle-Earth videos done myself in the future.

I love that project. Please do it. And you can get this scenic base on eBay. A good price is about €50

Love the base. Well done on getting this finished. It would bother me personally too much not to touch up the Games Workshop on the back, but I agree its not a huge deal since its in the back.

Great work Andy! Never heard of this set before seeing this video, was very envious watching you paint it. About 2 hours after watching video a full set (unpainted) went up on a Buy/Sell group that I was able to snatch up, think it was fate. Can’t wait to get started on it!

It looks fantastic! That dio is one of those things you have in your stash waiting for the inspiration to complete. For the base, I would have gone with gold instead of black as a reference to the One Ring, with the script highlighted in silver. It would be overly ambitious for me to try to NMM the base as gold, so I would try for TMM instead.

Not sure if I told this story about how I acquired my diorama base before. Basically I couldn't sub to the magazine because my parents didn't have a credit card, life before the internet eh? Anyway a year or so later a kid on my street had it but didn't want it so I ended up trading a YuGiOh starter deck for it, think it cost me about €8...or maybe it was pounds even?! The whole piece came out really well Andy and Gimili's base looks better than I expected since you went for an almost matching grey on the tomb! I think you should definatly fill in the GW logo at the back though!

ya there's plenty of different books in Warhammer or just do a blue stuff press mold off of the display then just cut small pages out of card stock... super easy

This was great! Just so much fun seeing you paint something that’s old and special. For me it has been the minis for Advanced Heroquest, they’re super nostalgic to me and I’ve had them for over 30 years before I painted them. I recently finished Journeys in Middle-earth and I’m now back to painting the rerelease of Heroquest and all the expansions.

I was a redshirt during this era and that plinth and set bring me back. Love this series. These models were so fun to paint but I always found the game meh. Looking forward to some Rohan action!
