There are some stories in the Bible that are more difficult to read. Although I've read this story several times, when I read it in more detail, it left me speechless. I want to retell this story to you while also providing what I believe are some very important lessons we all can learn from it.

Well my dad chose to divorce his previous spouse and be unequally yoked I did not choose how I was born, as a result I am a product of unequally yoked adultery where my dad was the Christian and my mum wasn't. I first studied this scripture last year. Prior to that time, I had never heard it. My mouth dropped as if I were reading a secular novel. This really shows that there is nothing new under the sun. The same things that happened in Biblical history is still happening today. God has provided a blueprint for every situation we could ever face.

I remember the first time I read the Bible, this story stood out to me. I re-read it several times to make sure I was reading it correctly because it seemed so gruesome. The horrors that women had to endure during that time… it was tough to get through. Thank you for talking about it because not many preachers are brave enough to do so!

This story, as many others, is a story about a spiritual insight into what happened in the Heavens, and what is currently happening. The woman is representing a spiritual group of believers that is no longer in existence. The 600 men left over is the parallel to the 600 men with David. The 400 men who get wives is the parallel to David’s 400 men who are not weak. The 200 who need wives from the festival, are those that stayed behind. While it is possible that this story in Judges really happened, I am more likely to believe this was not an actual event, but rather a metaphorical prophetic word.

"You can choose your sin, but you cannot choose your consequences." Words of wisdom for sure. People who lust and desire for sinful things never stop and think about the bad that can happen. They only hear their desires and think of satisfying themselves....some consequences last a life time and longer. Even if God does forgive you, you still have to face the consequences.

@@garytowner9375 The pronunciation Yahshua is philologically impossible in the original Hebrew and has no support in archeological findings, such as the Dead Sea scrolls or inscriptions, nor in rabbinical texts as a form of Joshua. Scholarship generally considers the original form of Jesus to be Yeshua, a Hebrew Bible form of Joshua. Jesus, which is the name used by most English-speaking people today, is an English transliteration of a Germanic adaptation, of a Latin transliteration, of a Greek transliteration of an originally Hebrew name, that is simply Yeshua. This is a fact. It is not even an argument. Hebrew as such does not contain equivalents of the English letters j, q, u, w, and x.

Allen! I truly hope you read this. Don’t ever stop making videos like this. Biblical videos, that help us understand the Word and why each book within has been preserved for us. This is imperative for our walks. I think a lot of the failures of the church right now are due to biblical ignorance and “believers” not reading the Word. I pray for understanding and wisdom before I read and I know that He has given me the gift of teachers such as yourself. There have been many times that I’ve been discouraged when I read something very challenging and I go to my elders for guidance but instead of receiving any, I get a very generic response or “this is what the study Bible says”. We need to be better equipped on the challenging, such as slavery and exactly what you taught us in this video. Especially!! For our youth. We need to give them more credit! their questions are valid and we have been entrusted with the truth. The Bible says that we must always have a reasoned defense for why we have the hope that we have. An apologia 🗡 Once again thank you and keep em comin, God Bless

I couldn't agree more, this is indeed the most disturbing story. Although I never experienced anything like that, I am one of those unable to ever read this story again. The things are deeply disturbing me: the way women were apparently worth nothing (the father willing to sacrifice his daughter and the wife of the man). And then, this cowardly man takes the murdered wife and wants revenge for her - although he is the one who let her getting abused.

Thank you for preaching on this story. It was a horrible story and made me feel sick and sad for the woman and all those affected by it. I've been so appreciating you taking on the tough topics (& blowing away all the fluff in which theyre cushioned), but when i saw this come up, i knew EXACTLY what story you were going to tell... & honestly, i do have a past that could be triggered, so I waited awhile, but came back to listen (I'm ok🙂). JESUS CHRIST IS LORD GOD and He is risen! If you are reading this right now, it doesn't matter who you are or what you have done in your life, if you are currently reading this, please be saved today, there's no more time to waste, time to waste is up and done! It's the best decision you'll make in your entire eternity; accepting CHRIST JESUS as your LORD AND SAVIOUR KING GOD MESSIAH and EVERYTHING! This is the Gospel; The LORD KING JESUS CHRIST loves you so so much that He came down from Heaven, lived the perfect life that we cannot live by ourselves, He died on a cross at Calvary for you, me, and ALL of us and ALL of our sins, and He rose again from the grave 3 days afterwards, conquering death, hell, sin, the devil, all evil, and condemnation. He's waiting for you to accept Him and come to Him with open arms in a genuine personal relationship and there's no other love ever like His since He loves you eternally and infinitely so believe in the FATHER YHWH JEHOVAH and the SON whom He sent, The LORD GOD KING JESUS CHRIST YESHUA HAMASHIACH, and receive The HOLY SPIRIT The Spirit Of JEHOVAH that will dwell in you, change you, lead you, guide you, and be your absolute best friend as GOD the HOLY SPIRIT just alongside The FATHER YHWH and CHRIST JESUS the Son Of GOD, GOD incarnate, which those 3 together make the HOLY TRINITY; GOD THE FATHER YHWH JEHOVAH, GOD THE SON CHRIST JESUS YESHUA HAMASHIACH, AND GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT, the one and only true GOD. I love you but nowhere near as much as GOD. Repent by believing in the LORD GOD KING JESUS CHRIST and thou shalt be saved, and once you tell JESUS that you believe in Him and genuinely trust in Him by inviting Him into your heart, you are sealed unto the Day of Redemption and you cannot lose your salvation in CHRIST JESUS and He will help you live for Him with His HOLY SPIRIT Amen, the Rapture is the Day of Redemption also which is so extremely very soon and He does not want you or anybody to be left behind nor me nor you do. GOD bless you and KING JESUS CHRIST IS LORD GOD. ✝️👑🦁🕍💒🙌🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️‍🔥💞💯💖 John 3:16 (KJV) - 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 14:6 (KJV) - 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Romans 10:9-10 (KJV) - 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV) - 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV) - 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Revelation 1:7-8 (KJV) - 7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Stories like these breaks my heart for several reasons. First, it exposes how dark people can get when they've strayed too far from the light. Secondly, there are people who would read it and will be inspired to protect and treat women better and respect each other. Third, there are people who would read this, not use discernment and will see little to nothing wrong with the story, because if it is in the bible, then God must've been ok with it and emulate the situation instead of taking a different and more loving approach like the good Lord intended. All because it's in the bible, doesn't mean that God was ok with it. Consequences come with free will.
