Reva: Where were you when my family was killed??? Obi Wan: Killing a pivotal member of the Separatists, getting stabbed in the back, falling to my death, almost drowning, having to Metal Gear my way out of enemy territory, resorting to stealing the ship of my enemy and having to go on the run almost immediately, not to mention having to bear the weight of my best friend turning evil and having to put him down. Well all the Inquisitors were never supposed to be able to be a threat to Vader or the Emperor. And of course that should mean they would stand no chance vs a Jedi Master. And Obi-Wan Kenobi was one of the most skilled masters in the Jedi Order only Yoda, Mace and Anakin were stronger than Obi-Wan a fact acknowledged thru the Prequels and the Clone Wars. Seeing Obi-Wan reduced to a weak shivering coward who can't beat street thugs or a Stormtrooper or two is very painful and a disgrace.

The events that will lead Reva to Luke are legitimately some of the most contrived circumstances I've ever seen in star wars. It relied on Reva meeting Owen, Bail sending that message, Obi Wan not deleting that message, Obi Wan giving the message to Haja, Haja dropping it, Reva finding it, and Reva surviving. All of those things taken separately are contrivances, but putting them together is just, wow.

Ffs lad it is actually impossible for you to enjoy things. The fact that R2 and C3PO escaped the Tantive IV in A New Hope is contrived as every sentient being was either captured or killed on the spot. They even saw the escape pod the droids used to leave the ship but left it as there were ‘no life forms’. This decision was made despite the fact that the message may have been left on the pod without a life form guarding it. This is extremely contrived, but this is the way Star Wars is, the story happens in certain ways, and logic shouldn’t always be used to contradict this.

"You should have killed me when you had the chance!" He may say it but he does not live by that motto. In a world where people can sometimes get cut in half and live and you have two living examples of people who have been stabbed in the gut with a lightsaber and lived right by you (Reva herself as a youngling and the Grand Inquisitor) I would think a good villain would make sure of their kills. A lightsaber to the head should suffice. Just poor writing.

If I’m being generous to the writers, maybe it’s since she struck down the Grand Inquisitor with one stab. He comes back and has his statement about Hate as a motivation for the will to live. They give her the same punishment that she dished out and test how strong she is with the dark side. Again, that’s if I’m giving the writers the benefit of the doubt.

@@adarian Not to get too graphic, but it seemed like Vader deliberately let Reva live by giving her a treatable wound. It would be easier to kill someone with a lightsaber than just wound them, especially if you're thrusting at the torso and all those vital organs. Like the sequels, the show has wasted the opportunity of bringing Hayden and Ewan back. Each episode should have had a flashback that showcased the relationship between Obi-wan and Anakin at different points before Anakin's fall. In addition, the show still suffers from writing issues and no sense of logic in many moments. It seems like every episode you can tear apart the story and the situations the characters find themselves in and it's really frustrating to watch. Overall it has been a very disappointing show. One more episode to go. Let's get this over with.

I always felt that going out of their way to "fix" inconsistencies always made them worse. In my mind after seeing Revenge of the Sith, I reinterpret the line in A New Hope as Vader saying he was just starting to learn the dark side and now he has mastered it. The inconsistencies between the Original Trilogy and Prequel Trilogy are for the most part inconsequential and can be explained away with "from a certain point of view", I think the only one that can't be explained away is Leia saying she remembered Padme.
@darthtroller

You're right that they make it worse by trying to fix it. This whole series is making the connection with ANH worse really. Vaders line works just fine with how they left things at the end of Ep3. Vader loses that confrontation, so his line saying he was the learner fits in just fine with that. Leia remembering Padme is the easiest of everything to explain so no idea why you think thats even relevant. In Ep6 Leia says she remembers "just images really... feelings". Considering who she is and her lineage it is perfectly reasonable that she might sense these things.

I had alot of TFU vibes with Darth Vader force pulling a ship and ripping it to shreds. Episode 6 prediction: Owen, left for dead with a lightsaber wound to the stomach, lies apart from a three way standoff between Vader, Kenobi, and Reva. In the balance, Luke Skywalker and the fate of the galaxy. The tension crescendos when suddenly…Beru parkours into the fray! With a blue milk blaster in each hand, she douses Vader until drowning and then turns her motherly smile toward Reva. “Child” she says, “come in from the heat and come down from your hate. Return to the light” Reva begins to cry and lets go of the dark side as she’s gently lead into the home. Ben, hears his name from Owen and rushes to his side. With painful breath Owen tells him “You really screwed the bantha, didn’t you, Ben”. All as Luke lies fast asleep in his bed.

I get that Reva is probably sticking around potentially even past the last episode but Darth Vader not straight up beheading her like Dooku seemed way too merciful for someone who just helped Obi-Wan get away. It also makes no sense how they used Reva since Vader easily could have ended things on Mapuzo and they haven’t really made it seem like Vader purposely let him get away. I’m also bored of the villain becoming or secretly being good trope in Star Wars. This series is deeply flawed fan service can’t repair the glaring plot holes and inconsistencies. Maybe I have boring tastes but I would have been happy with a series where it’s a character study with Obi-Wan mostly learning from Qui-Gon. Maybe even fighting some inquisitors or some other threat without facing Vader directly. Overall I enjoyed this episode but the series hasn’t justified its existence and I’m not sure it will.

She has no reason (outside of the writers being unable to convincingly set up her upcoming show) to be worrying about going to Tattooine when she is facing a immediate death. It didn't need to be so on-the-nose, and was ineffective at conveying what Reva was supposed to be going through. It was there because the writers needed to explicitly set up why she goes to Tattooine in future content, because they don't trust the fansbase to figure out that if she's left near a communicator that Obi-Wan had, and she manages to survive, she'll probably check it out. I want to go into a show thinking critical. I like analyzing things and I want it to hold up. And it’s not impossible for a show or movie to have spectacle but still be good. Arcane League of Legends has tons of spectacle but the character in the writing is awesome. And it’s OK to leave things for interpretation, but you still have to get answers to interpret. Despite some of the cool stuff, notably the long overdue flashback, there are still so many plot contrivances and poor writing decisions that have been increasingly popping up since the first episode. Vader watching the second ship just fly away. Reva not using the ships flying away as the perfect distraction to stand a chance at striking Vader which would explain how he could let the ship get away. Reva surviving a stab wound like the Grand Inquisitor did and Vader leaving her alive. Kenobi giving the hologram to Haja so he can drop it so we can drag out the Reva plot till the final episode. Wish I could love this series but I’m not really expecting much now. If I want Kenobi post ROTS, I’ll stick to Twin Suns from Rebels. You forgot the fact that Reva and Obi Wan were openly speaking about treason with stormtroopers only like a few feet away. Fix for that is, Obi taunts her, she gets up close in his face, then they talk. It's better than what we got. Overall Reva was better this episode but I really hope those rumors of them making a Reva show are false. There's no way they would have just let her live like that.

6:08 I think the point they were going for was that as Anakin was so hyper focused on victory that he couldn't see the bigger picture, Vader was so hyper-focused on capturing Obi-Wan that he too missed the bigger picture of Kenobi and his allies' plan for escape. True, others would have fallen for this trap too, but Vader's strategic prowess and sensitivity in the force towards the presence of others would often let him see traps like this coming ahead of time. But because his blind rage against Kenobi was all he could see, he fell for their trap and was fooled. He's making the same mistakes Anakin once did. He is still in many ways the learner.

VADER HAD TWO SABERS FOR A MOMENT JUST LIKE HIS PADAWAN, HE LOOKED OUT INTO HYPERSPACE IN THE SAME FRAMED SHOT AS HIS PADAWAN, AND HELD THE SHIP IN PLACE JUST LIKE HIS PADAWAN NO I WILL NOT SHUT UP ABOUT IT. Also yes the flashback does perfectly explain how Vader/Anakin always thought: victory over any cost. It's why he lost on Mustafar, it's why he lost Kenobi now. Vader was so intent on the thing in front of him, he lost sight of his surroundings. It's why he nearly lost Ahsoka Tano during the Wrong Jedi arc; he was so focused on trying to find Ahsoka, when she escaped, instead of trying to find the real culprit, that if things had gone real south real fast, Ahsoka could've ended up dead because of his narrow mind set. And it's why he wasn't able to kill Ahsoka during their duel at the pyramid. Yes Ezra pulled her aside, but he didn't realize his surroundings until Ahsoka stabbed the unstable ground with her sabers, he reacted instinctively to decapitate her, but was too late. And it's why he cut off Luke's hand, it's why he nearly lost his son all together, all of Anakin's actions can essentially be explained with that single sentence.

Hate to break it to you Thor but Bail, and his family should already be in trouble with the empire. In episode 2 Reva tells the grand inquisitor that she found in some records that during the clone wars Bail and Kenobi were connected, and she kidnapped Leia to try and lure Kenobi out..... and it works this alone should implicate Bail as a Jedi sympathizer and traitor to the empire. Yet we know that both Bail and Leia are members of the imperial Senate during a new hope. This just makes Bail look even more stupid when you think his reasoning for sending Kenobi to rescue Leia was to keep her secret safe.

Two questions or issues I didn't really see you cover: 1) do you accept that Reva merely being present at the temple during Order 66 would mean that she knows that Anakin is Darth Vader?; 2) do you accept that Vader would just leave Reva there without ensuring she is dead?

I agree that there were some problems with this episode like Organas message, but I believe that the storm trooper scene was Reva on purpose allowing Kenobi escape to go help with the ships without looking suspicious and later allowing her to "sneak" up on Vader. As it was implied that she switched sides after Kenobi mentioned the families back there. The part about Leah fixing the door also seems a bit nit- picky since it was implied that she needed to check one specific breaker, which seems reasonable to me especially considering that the droid helped at the end. One thing I don't really like about this episode is the entire thing about Vader having planned everything out, don't get me wrong it's really cool but to me it just seems a bit vague like what was the exact plan he had? Why did they need Reva? Like Vader is ruthless enough to kidnap a child to lure out someone. Also how long has the plan been in the works? Since order 66 in the temple where he led Reva live? Or only since the start of the series? It just doesn't seem very fleshed out to me, but there might be some room in ep. 6 for this to be explained a bit more.

I really questioned some of the creative choices made in this series why on Earth wouldn't Reva attack Vader when he was using the force on the ship he was totally distracted and the writers could have used the Reva attack as a moment to distract Vader so the ship could get away. Not have an entirely empty ship just waiting for him. Man that was stupid. The writers could have had a moment where Obi-one uses the force to attack Anakin from behind to win the past match and he remembers that moment just in time to block Revas attack from behind but having to let the ship go. Completing the cycle. Vader whooping her without even taking out his lightsaber was a nice touch though. So here's my theory. SPOILERS BELOW THIS POINT. this story was originally written to have taken place within 6 months to a year after the revenge of the sith and was changed to account for how older ewan mcgregor looks. If you place the events of the story shortly after a lot of the issues people had with this series are either better or make more sence. 1. Obi-Wan is a shadow of his formal self. Basically nothing we think about when we think of a Jedi. Well within the 1st year you would expect him to be a lot more depressed, defeated. Plus shortly after order 66 Jedi's would be hunted which he would have to cut himself off from the force which also add to his depression maybe even guilt or resentment for the situation. 2. Taking Princess Leia as a baby clears up any of the issues about her remembering him or any of those questions about their relationship in episode 4. 3. senator bail organa going to Obi-Wan. A year after the revenge of the sith, they would still be sticking to a lie about who and where Princess Leia came from and wouldn't want people to dig any deeper and they would have hid the kidnapping entirely and Obi-Wan would have had no choice but to leave Luke and go after her. 4. Reva- is a former jedi that assumes Anakin is now Vader based on the display of power with the force, and the legend of Anakin. But it really doesn't matter because who ever it is they have to die and Is so blinded by the hate or sense of duty that even if it means getting Kenobi killed to get close enough to vader its worth it. Also as a Jedi she would have been trained explaining her skill with the force and not a mary sue.

So they knew Vader would come in and catch the decoy ship just in time and force full it down... Then would not be quick enough to grab the 2nd ship (or sense Obi-Wan on it)?? Jeez thats some quick thinking there. What a plan! omg horrible. So Vader did not notice or hear the second ship starting up?? Who was even on the decoy ship?? Where was Reva while he was doing all this? Surely the backstab timing was when he was force pulling the ship... :((( OMG HORRIBLE. Vader was happy to sit back and let Reva handle the situation from orbit, yet he knew she was not loyal and was still prepared to risk Obi-Wan potentially getting away?? omg horrible. And that whole fight where the storm troopers come through the doors after Reva just walks up and opens the 4" thick door with the light saber was some of the worst choreography I've seen. The storm troopers were just not moving froward. They were walking in slow motion and seemingly not ever closing the gap. It was one of the worst Star Wars scenes I have seen. Some decent moments in this episode for sure but that Bail message was symptomatic of the writing problems this series has. Why did Bail Organa send such a compromising message to Obi-Wan, and why did Obi-Wan leave the communicator he'd just received that message on with some fella? Because the plot demanded it.
@QuintMarvel
@QuintMarvel 2 жыл бұрын
Firstly, Vader's message never made sense literally. "When I left I was but the learner, now I am the Master." He wasn't LITERALLY a padawan learner in Revenge of the Sith. He must of meant - I was the rookie Jedi Knight, but now (A New Hope Era) I have a TON more experience. As much experience as you my old Master. Second, you need to stop thinking about why YOU think characters actions are DUMB, and consider WHY the Characters think their actions are Smart. Bail Organa realizes that if Obiwan is captured, so is Leia. Being a child, Leia will blab about her dad. That means Bail's position has been compromised, too. It would be simplest to run for his life, but since he endangered Obiwan by making him take on this mission, then he's going to take up Obiwan's mission to protect the boy. Bail is gonna use the last bits of his connections as a Senator to disappear beyond the Outer Rim. He had to tell Obiwan, in case somehow Obiwan got out and went looking for Luke. Bail was an ally of the Jedi, so he probably believes that if it's meant to be, the Force will be on their side. Bail might have some old Jedi texts from the Clone Wars era, that he thinks he's got the basis to at least get Luke started on the ways of the Force. Or, again, if it's meant to be, The Force will lead them to another master beyond the Outer Rim. Yes, if was dumb of him to blab about Tattooien and the Owen farm, but sometimes you just blab things without thinking when you're in a hurry.

There were lots of great moments for sure, especially seeing Hayden back. I'm happy they didn't de age him because then we see his face and all his mannerisms that the tech can't pick up on. Vader was pretty sick in this episode too, the fight choreography matching bits of vader/luke and anakin/obi in rots was coo. There shouldve more flashbacks especially to clone wars in the beginning of the show but heres a small list of things I found annoying -stormtroopers are hilariously incompetent - so is the empire -how did reva survive exactly? It looked like she got stabbed in the flashback? -bales message. I don't even know what to say about that -leia fixing wires for the whole episode basically - the GI saying "Revenge does wonders for the will to live doesn't it" then he proceeds to leave her there with a stab wound and nothing but her revenge and her will to live to keep her alive and he just hope she bleeds out and dies. That to me was even stupider than bails message. Still no qui gon, still no Yoda. This show stinks and has little to no rewatchability. Thanks disney One final thing I'll say is it's nice seeing fans actually stand up and say this show stinks. Not just on KZfaq which usually is 'negative' but Twitter too. I was laughing my balls off when Vader force grabbed the huge escaping shuttle (from fifty feet away, 40 feet off the ground and the thrusters were engaged) and then held it until the engine malfunctioned, pulling it to the ground and ripping the fuselage off it in two huge clumps yet in Disney/Lucasfilm's own creation Rogue One he didn't even attempt to stop the Tantive IV as it escaped him from Scarif. This is approximately eight years later and we can automatically assume Vader is much stronger with the darkside of the force considering how he tore through the hallway of the disabled rebel frigate like he was set on God Mode.

I enjoyed seeing anakin as a padawan with obi wan the most.

Am I the only one that noticed how dead coruscant looks in the background? Like seriously theres a trillion people on that planet at a time. Were they all just asleep? Or did someone at Disney say "hey. You know what everyones gonna be so focused on obi wan and Anakin that we can probably make it a bit cheaper!"

Their flashbacks would've been better (more believable) if placed closer to rots rather than (pre?) AOTC.. At least from my point of view, still good to see though..

For me, the production value of the entire hangar area was so low that it pulled me out of the story too much to really enjoy the cool parts. It just felt and looked like a big flat soundstage with sand on the floor. The utterly unconvincing cannon shooting squibs at the door was hilarious. Blaster rifles could've done that much damage. Lifeless battle choreography with the stormtroopers walking in slow straight lines was cringeworthy as well.

Agreed. This episode REALLY showed the limitations of the volume.

Spot on. And people saying that the 2ns ship was parked there.. Yes you could make it out, RIGHT AGAINST the wall. When it flies off it looks like it was parked right in the center of the room, right next to the downed ship lol. It was so so so bad. Vader could not hear the engines starting up? Or see the ship? or sense Obi-Wan on it?? Omg that was hilarious

From what I remember, it looked like only 2 people got shot from the entire sequence despite there being a good amount of stormtroopers looking at them in the open

It’s getting to the point where more Jedi survived Order 66 than died in it

named jedi? maybe. but there was around 10,000 jedi knights before order 66 and theres roughly 100 that survived. (still, having jedi pop up all over the place all the time feels cheap)
