Do you have a chiller since we do get temperatures over 20 degrees or what do you use to keep the temp down

@@lilyw1771 when the temp gets to around 30c, I use a 20cm fan on speed 1, it does a really good job. A friend of ours has them now as we had to move. Their doing great.

Nice axolotls. I once had a long and slender male dark grey wildtype for a couple of years before giving it away to a friend and it lived a very long life. I never used any substrate or sand, the bottom was glass but with a few large pebbles and of course artificial hides. If I was to get another axolotl I'd just get another full grown adult. The real challenge is keeping the water cool in hot weather, you need a chiller that is for sure. As we know nearly all salamanders prefer a cool climate or cool water if they are aquatic.

Great Video! I've been researching all year to be best prepared and your videos have been a great help. My ultimate goal is to create an Aquaponics system with Axies' tank and grow my own greens and plants. I have a 50 gallon low boy tank [48Lx24Wx10H] that is in the cycling process. I recenlty rescued 2 Axies from a pet store [juvenile & sub-adult] and purchased a juvenile from a quality breeder. I have the juveniles in separate glass containers and the sub-adult is in a std 10 gallon tank until my 50g lowboy is cycled.

Watched your videos before I got my AXO. I have had mine for 7 months now. I went with a 29 gal and the height makes it so the water is calm below and I can get a lot of water movement from my DIY aquaclear filter that I hot glued a sheet of clear plastic to the outflow to get most of the water disturbance at the surface of the water.

Hey Frankie, first off I wanna thank you for having this channel! My lil guy's name is Waddlez. I love him so much and I want to keep him cool but those chillers are crazy expensive! I got him in a 10 gallon tank right now cuz he was teeny tiny when I got him but he's getting bigger so I got a 29 gallon tank. Anyways, It's really hot outside were I live right now. I'm noticing his tank temp is almost 70°F! I'm so scared for him. I have a fan on him and it's not helping. So I want to put him in the bigger tank but all the decent prices chillers I've seen are only for like 5 or 10 gallons. So what I'm getting to is, do you know of any good priced chillers (like under $200 USD) for a 29 gallon tank? Thanks😁

I'm not 100% sure that the Copper and Leucistic are girls because they are still fairly small, but I can definitely tell that Hank is a Hank 🙂 At the moment I have all 3 of them in a 182 ltr tank and their always snuggled up together. Hey! Love your channel! I'm new I reasontly adopted 3 Axolotls. I have had a saltwater tank for about 5 years. This is my frist fresh water situation. Very different! Loving the change. I loved the littlebguys the moment I saw them. I got them from a lady for free who was having alot of trouble keeping them there water was very dirty! And they had snacked on the smaller one. :( I had some shrimp in my fridge that I fed them the frist day and they loved it. I don't think they had ever had it! . In the move even tho I kept and moved her water over I think I may have crashed the system but I think we are past that now. They are pretty big except one. The frist week they where real oinkers and ate everything I gave them. Now they are getting picky. I guess my question now. Mine don't seem to notice the pellets? Do I need to offer them like I do the live foods? I've Hurd they may only eat ever 2 days or so ? How many days can they go before I need to be worried? It took me a second to tell the difference between blood worms and earth worms! Do you think the blood worms will fill them up? Or is that more of a treat ? :)

HELLO THERE! I'm having a very bothersome issue with my newly established tank. Its cloudy. And I have tried everything but the cloud remains. I cleaned the filter. I do the water changes. I clean the poop out. Why does everyone have crystal clear water and mine has never been clear, since I put Mr.Wigglebottom in this newly cycled tank! I'm very frustrated, as whats the point of all this if I can't see and interact with my little buddy?
@kirstin8437
@kirstin8437 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'll try and help if I can. Is the tank cycled? If there is no beneficial bacteria to help convert Ammonia from the poo into the less toxic nitrates. If you haven't added beneficial bacteria you could buy a bottle at your local pet store. Is the tank big enough for your axolotl? 20 gallons is the minimum and sometimes if the tank is too small it'll create so much poo that it'll cloud the water. Is your filter big enough for your tank? Filters should have a recommended tank size and having the filter be the recommended size to perhaps the next size up if you could afford it could help maintain crystal clear water. if all else fails you could look into a UV steriliser which kills any microorganisms or algae which may be floating in the water. I hope this helps

Hi Frankie can you please pint me in the direction of chillers. What’s the least expensive but does the job and lasts I could buy. I have two tanks a 3 foot and 4 foot both just over half full so about 150 litres in each? X

I've never seen an axolotl tank empty as that. Why are there almost no plants at all? 🌿

Hi there Honey, thank you so much for your support and lovely words 😁👍 Depending on size and age will differ how much your little water pup should eat. I tend to feed my adults 2 maybe 3 earthworms each day, then have the weekend free of food. But axolotls will differ when it comes to thier appetite. I tend to find my leucistic seem to be the first ones looking for thier food, whereas my others ate usually fairly relaxed and chilled. I guess it is to each thier own! How old is your little one? And what do you usually feed? Thanks again for your support! You're awesome! 😁🐡💙🌟🌈

I have feed it fresh fish cut up every other day just the size that fits in her mouth 😁Shes 8 months old and seems happy. I just started with blood worms frozen then thawed I was told not the whole cube. But she at it like nothing in one gulp 😁😁Just seeing how fast made me ?? But she’s a healthy swimmer and I have feeder guppy’s in the tank but she doesn’t bother them😁when I got her she was like 2/3 inches long and now she’s about 6/8 inches 😁

One question, can the water temperature be lower than 16 or 18 and the Axolotl still be fine? Keep up the good work my friend 😊👏

Could you please do a video of you actually doing a water change on your axolotl's tank? If not, could you please let me know if you have to remove the axolotl from the tank before doing a water change, please? I also have one more question. Do you have to do water changes on your tank while it's cycling? (Without axolotl in tank.) Thank you very much!
