What Calvin needs are (more) cards that make you take direct damage/horror as additional costs for better effects. Or a permanent that works like Dark Pact but with damage/horror instead of doom. Let him use his life and sanity as a resource.

At first I thought about if they made an expansion with signature cards for each investigator that only they could buy, but that wouldn't be too future proofed. So I think if they did something like "drifter only" and then Jenny and Calvin could take it and also future drifters. Enjoyed the video!

I would love to see more support, perhaps in asset form, that utilise multiple stats or lowest stat, think Savant, which is excellent for the 3333 Jenny stat line, Lola and Amina likewise. I see this as the greatest strength for such investigators, and they will always be better flex roles, that's just a product of such Jack of All trades stats. I see Calvin as way more combat focused, as he's got Spirit access, and most spirit cards are dealing with combat, maybe a weapon in survivor that like butterfly swords could leverage 2 or even 3 or all 4 stats.

Some ideas: Jim: asset 5xp,reaction after revealing an non auto-fail token, you may take 1 direct horror to treat it as an skull/tablet/... token instead. Maybe forced, but limited to specific tokens and non-direct? either way, this makes the trumpet also a bit better. Calvin: an event with some strong effect, this test uses your lowest stat instead.

The biggest problem with Calvin is figuring out a mechanic that rewards him more than any other investigator. Every time I’ve built a Calvin deck it’s always felt like I could be doing the same thing with another investigator, and they’d be doing it better. I suppose the best fit would be base skill value, so we’d need to see a lot more cards supporting that mechanic.

Excellent video, really good point about testing sprint. For Jim, I was thinking they could print a spell-cycle (if they are gonna keep doing those) that is Song traited, maybe with a lvl 0 Song Of The Dead and a lvl 4 version that deals 2 base damage. Then along with that they could add some trait based payoff cards, like an event that draws cards (maybe 2 per) for each asset that you control with Song and/or one other under-utilized trait like Ritual, so that it's not too parasitic.

Like for Skids playthrough, it is VERY good

For Jenny, instead of add your book to this skill test (making a baseline of 6 while Tony has 8), I rather think about: add your lowest base skill. This makes "all 3s" Investigators pop off rather then any other. Ofc. these effects should be a little bit stronger or less expensive, since adding a maximum of 3 to a skill test is not the best effect anyway.

Listening to you talk about Calvin, i think that more effects like spirit of humanity would be great for him. Specifically, I'm imaginging a lvl 3 card that works the same but with actions. Like: [fast], exhaust (cardname), take 1 damage and 1 horror: gain 1 action.

Regarding Jim, I’ve always felt that as well as token fishing, there is potential for Mystic to be home for an archetype that allowed you to forgo the randomness of a test by instead having cards that allow you to choose one of the (negative) symbol tokens to resolve instead. I’d love to see a package of cards that play with this that is playable for mystics general, and doubly so for Jim.

I don’t know if Jenny needs anything else besides from Green Man Medallion and Charon’s Obol. Her late game is completely insane!

Marie Lambeau is an investigator that has long needed some love from the designers. First of all, her statline is meh. It looks decent at a glance, but since there's very little you can do with 4 Intellect that you can't also do with Willpower her statline is mostly redundant. Also her card pool is super restricted for absolutely no reason. There are very few Spells outside of Mystic and among those none of them are very exciting options for Marie, so her access to Spell cards is basically just bad Mystic access. There is no tradeoff for her restricted card access, like the extra stat point that Mark or Rita gets or the bonus xp that Mateo or Kymani gets. Also the Doom portion of the Mystic pool has been very neglected by the designers, and never seem to be that great for Marie. The fact that Marie's card access prevents her from even considering the upgraded charms from Scarlet Keys further suggests to me that the designers aren't thinking of her when they design new cards. And if all that wasn't bad enough, she has one of (if not THE) most punishing weaknesses in the game. Not only does the Baron take up your ally slot, he can be difficult to get rid of and is the only signature weakness in the game that can kill other investigators. He's also an unavoidable silver bullet for Elle Rubash, which otherwise might have been the best Marie card ever printed. When you look at other investigators who get a bonus action most/every round, it's kind of crazy that Marie has to risk punishing the whole party (if her doomplay goes awry) to get access to her extra action. What on earth did they think was so good about Marie to justify all this? Is there even one thing she can do better than any other Mystic? I contend that Marie Lambeau is the most neglected investigator in Arkham.

Calvin Wright is trash. The best thing they could have done is made him a 2 across the board, and cap everything at 6.

Hard agree that Jim and Calvin need some help (Jim a LOT of help), but I love Jenny and think she's good, especially in single player. She can do everything and is one of the best dynamite blast spammers in the entire game because she can make the money for it easily, play scrounge for supplies to pick it back up, and get to the point where she can even "Double Double" it. That tactic alone can invalidate like 70% of the scenarios she finds herself in, and her deckbuilding is pretty flexible for her to go the Geas+Dark horse route (for just good stats overall) or the Black fan/well connected big money route. She also has access to Charon's Obol which makes getting to these XP breakpoints pretty quick, and then she snowballs midgame scenarios really hard. I don't think shes the best in the game or anything like that, but I've always been very confused when she gets compared to "bad" investigators. I think she's absolutely the best of the 3/3/3/3 statlines that exist so far, though i've only done one campaign with Wilson Richards so i'm not 100% set in stone on him yet.
