Ofc they didn’t air Abby making a comment about Nia’s grandfather passing away. Just like they didn’t air her insulting Kelly’s mom in season two. They always protected Abby 🙄

@@livliv1880 I thought about mentioning that too but at least with that one, they show that Abby said SOMETHING! They covered it up with something else but they didn’t make it look like Christi’s rage came from no where. The scenes with Holly and Kelly, they make it look like those two got really angry about something not that important.

Just like they didn’t air Maddie telling Abby she was on her phone the whole time and Gia telling Abby she was wrong and the dance was perfect. I would love to see anyone other than the moms putting her in her place.

its so sad how none of the mothers were happy or even present for Nia, but Holly and Nia were present for all of their kids.. its really sad. Im sure if chloe and christi were still on the team they'd support her

@@hannahpollard9297 in this case im talking about the mother's not the girls. Im sure the moms were in a hurry but couldn't they at least congratulate Nia or try to be present? They looked like they didnt even want to be there and left as soon the video was over. The candy apples team showed more support to Nia than the mothers from her own team.

While Holly's line "Empty chair do a Solo!" is iconic, this episode is a prime example of how insufferable and just plain miserable Jill and how fed up Holly was getting with the constant BS on the show. I don't blame her for snapping like that.

The moms and Abby calling the SIYOL video inappropriate has always been wild to me. None of Nia’s costumes were any more revealing than thing Abby had but her in, if anything they’re more conservative. Nia bucked a bit at one point but Abby had her smacking her butt at 9 and it was okay. The more provocative dance steps cut to either Nia’s face or one of the adult dancers. The men in speedos never once did an inappropriate dance move or put a hand on Nia, but Shia LeBouf could wear the same amount and have physical contact with Maddy and it was okay. It doesn’t matter if Nia isn’t Sia, both girls were minors (and Maddy was younger at the time). Kendall could sit on the back of a dude doing pushups (again younger than Nia). The hypocrisy specifically when it comes to the standard Nia and Holly were held to vs. the other moms and girls never ceases to amaze and disappoint me.

A lot of Black dancers get unfairly called out for “inappropriate” choreo, costumes etc. it’s a form of micro aggression. Nia talked about it a while back and also mentioned always being called “strong” or “athletic” while the non Black dancers were often called “pretty” or “dainty”. It absolutely wild to say this on national tv with your full chest and not be embarrassed

I liked BDA’s hip hop dance!! And I love that Jeanette and Ava spoke up for Nia and Chloe. And Cathy and BDA showing up for Nia was so sweet So excited for the next episode!!

I genuinely don’t like this half of season five. From Abby making fun of a girls ears to the moms making fun of Jojo to Nia being outcast this is the point where it got so toxic. I love the dancing and the girls but Abby is so awful now…

I die laughing at the scene where Abby wants them to pull out a camera to record the conflict when there literally is a professional film crew filming the scene. Yup that is definitely acting for the cameras.

I don't know if this still stands, but at the time, Jump (as well as 24Seven, and Nuvo-same parent company) had a rule that dancers must attend all classes and the closing ceremony in order to receive their audition scholarships. Without an audition scholarship, dancers are not able to compete for Dancer of the Year at Dance Awards.

Whether its for drama on a reality show or not, it is absolutely asinine to complain that much about how Holly posts about Nia's music. EVERYONE does it. its what you do as a proud parent and as someone who wants people to know there is music to listen to. Insane to me that Jill keeps bringing it up. Sorry Abbey is a shit manager and your little Kendall is not making as good of music as Nia. Maybe many of you should have taken a page out of Kelly's book and refused to make Abbey your kids manager idk 💁🏼‍♀ Also Abbey could tell me a million times that the Nia vs Kendal music situation was all production and she had to go with it and i would never believe her. She treated Nia HORRIBLY and nothing will every change that no matter how many times she changes her story.

All the main girls on DM's ended up having some sort of an acting career after DM's ended. I will say that Ava did a great movie called Tall Girl and Tall Girl 2 that is streaming on Netflix. I hope Abby watched them because it's a great movie that tells a story about being tall is not that bad, even if you have to go through some bullying to finally see being tall is just who you are, and that you can own it. Best movie done by any DM's girls. Go beautiful Ava.

@@Leo42.069 the first one was pretty tone deaf and took the completely-wrong route in its exploration of physical insecurities, however i felt the second one listened to the critiques of the film and applied them very well. only problem was that the second one's new themes and ideas were overshadowed by the stale, derivative romantic aspects and messy-padding; making for an (overall) boring viewing experience. i thought ava did wonderfully though - especially considering it was her first real acting job. it sucks that the creators failed the IP so-spectacularly, because the premise had promise for its genre and the actors were all pretty strong - it's especially upsetting that ava's face is so heavily-tied to the films, too. she went from being mocked and abused by dance moms and its fandom, to being made into a massively-scrutinised meme as a result of netflix's incompetence. i hope the poor girl still gets her shot in the industry and that she isnt just dropped like so many other young actors are

Oh the empty chair moment! That was hilarious and maybe the best thing ever said on the show! It was really ridiculous though how Jill was suggesting it was an honor that Nia and Jojo got the two solos when there was no one else there to do them. Also, why would Abby apologize for a 3rd place solo even if it was improved? The competition didn't care that it was improved or she wouldn't have placed. I am really sad that Nia didn't place though. I Never Knew is one of my favorite solos of hers

11:42 Oooh. Funny how the production notes think it was Abby’s idea to do that. I suspect it was production. I mean wouldn’t it make for great TV if the ALDC were late and things work out for them or if didn’t make it on time and be disqualified? Plus it would make Abby super mad at the girls the following week.

Does anyone listen to Abby’s Podcast? She had Jessalyn on and they spoke about Australia and they both hinted that it was Melissa who chose not to invite Nia and JoJo to Australia!! Personally I don’t anyways tend to believe Abby, but Jess backed it up - crazy to think how much power Melissa had and the way she would treat Nia!!

In the production notes when they are all upstairs at 3rd street and they are discussing whether Jess is going to go or not it states Jess said then they just don’t want her going because she will get a cut of their share (obviously cut from the episode) but it seems to be more likely that it was a thing
