3 Surprising Things About Motherhood
Parents + aunts + uncles...what are three things that surprised you about having a baby in your life?
My three:
The relationship between breasts and a newborn baby
How big a mother's breasts grow
How many mistakes you will make as a young mom
How wrong other mom's mom advice often is

I love how Shan waited until SHE was ready to be a mother, I feel that has definitely contributed to her being so positive about motherhood! If i ever become a mother, I’m definitely gonna wait until welllllllll into my 30s

One thing that happened to me and that I wasn't expecting was that I could never look at a glass of milk the same way. I couldn't avoid thinking that the cow had given birth just like me, and their child was taken away for humans to exploit their motherhood through their milk and even their sexuality. It broke my heart as I could feel it as if it was me going through that, because I felt so attached to my baby and all that breast-baby connection was so strong. I did some research and learned that cows cry for days when they take their babies.

Cows don't normally have their calves taken from them right away, they feed them for months, and are then weaned, just like humans. But if the milking is continued, through a machine or hand milking, the cow continues to produce milk. I don't know what you mean when you say that the cow's sexuality is exploited. My cow, for example, gently licks my head when I milk her (with her sandpaper tongue). I do not exploit her, she is very well cared for and has a wonderful life, as does her calf. Perhaps your research was incomplete
@martaso643
@martaso643 3 жыл бұрын
@@katherine6571 Thank you for your comment. My research may be incomplete so I keep on researching regularly. So far, even though there are many instances where cows are treated almost like pets, in the vast majority of scenarios, they are treated as commodities. They are artificially inseminated, and their young are taken away because they should not consume the milk. Male calfs are killed for meat and female cows are artificially fed to become milking cows in the future. This is what seems to be the reality in most cases. Not in all cases, of course. But, don't take my word for it, you can take your time to research into the industry yourself. Perhaps you did and came to a different conclusion which is fine as well. If you have any data you want to share, I'll be happy to see. I appreciate that you don't exploit your cow, as she gladly shares her milk with you, that is great. :)

Motherhood is a gift but it’s also very hard doing it when you’re not financially stable, don’t have a partner and doing it all by yourself. I always pictured that when I eventually have a kid it would be in a two parent household and it wouldn’t feel so lonely. Doing this in a pandemic and basically alone is DIFFICULT. Her dad takes her 24 hours a week but we’re not exactly “a team”. Seeing her beautiful face and hearing her laughing and enjoying herself helps me get through it because most of the time I feel like I’m failing her. 🤦🏾‍♀️😟
@Nokss87

Remove high expectations and be grateful for being able to get through each day. Not all of us who had both parents grew up in a happy or healthy way. Just always remember your job is to LOVE your baby unconditionally and she'll love you back for life. That's all a child needs, someone who loves and cares for them even if it's one parent.😊🌼🧡

Coming from a single mom of a now 14 yr old (whew lord that still seems foreign) I learned that everytime I felt like I was failing him, he would prove me wrong, that he was happy , healthy and taken care of, just try not to beat yourself up , we are our worst critics, and like she said , if you mess up just apologize , kids understand more than what we give them credit for .... You got this 💓💓

I love this! And I agree! I had my first baby in October so she is three months and I’m soooo enjoying this. She has a relative nanny that I take her to because I am a full time teacher, but I’ve gotten into the groove of the schedule. she only wakes up a couple times at night to eat. And she’s just a chill baby. Super cute, and so smart! She wasn’t an easy pregnancy though. I was sick the whole time. But i could tell that she was going to be a chill baby because she was pretty calm in the womb. She wouldn’t beat me up while she was in there which was nice.

When a couple I'm friends with adopted their first baby the one guy's mom helped them out and gave them some really good advice. She's a mother of 7 herself, and pretty much an expert through experience by the time #7 came along. She said don't go into parenthood with any major expectations. When she had her first everyone was saying how wonderful the experience was, and how much she was going to love that baby. She did and does love her firstborn, but that connection that society says should be there on day one just wasn't, and there were days when she was frustrated. She felt like something must be wrong with her. Then she opened up to her own mother who told her not to be so hard on herself. Her mother framed it as her bond with her husband didn't appear overnight, why would a bond with a baby be any different? Bonding is a process. The second piece of golden advice was that sometimes babies are just fussy assholes. Not being able to soothe them doesn't make you a bad parent. Just like adults get in bad moods and just have to ride it out, so do babies. You should still try, but there will be days where all you can do is sit on the floor by the crib and cry with them. That's not failure at being a parent, that's life. All you can do is take life a day at a time, and deal with what comes the best you know how.
