Hey! Now not throw in comparisons from a proper track with real times! I own a FK2, got a FK8 on order. These cars are absolutely mental. I wanted an M2 comp, but the price is double here which is just silly. And no....BMW quality is not better then Honda, though Honda quality is not what it used to be.

Hardly, the M2 isn't double the price, it's £10k less than double. An M240i is the same price and still demolishes the Type R in every way.

Keep in mind the Type R also has a lot more room for additional buildable aftermarket horsepower (some of these are already at well over 400 hp) and a whole crap load of suspension upgrades. And the reliable Honda nameplate to boot. Not so much for the Beemer. Very little support offered from the aftermarket, and as well from BMW itself.

Power output is the same. Power is calculated differently for the Civic in EU.EU's DIN method of measurement is slightly different from the US' SAE. Europe certifies using 98 RON (octane) fuel, where the US fuel for SAE net certification is 95 RON

I want people to go back and realize the air conditioning was on in the type r during the hot laps. In a 2 liter engine, that is going to make a difference.

It depends on the track. If theres long straights, I'm sure the M2 would be faster, but something technical like the Nurburgring, the type R's downforce would make it faster

I drove the STI and I have the Civic. The Civic is much more refined. The STI is like a truck. Smooth roads=Civic. Rough roads=STI.

I live in FL and got rid of my S2000 for a 19 Type R. I have made a lot of mistakes in my life but trading in my second s2000 for the Type R is not one of them. I fucking love this car so much. I could talk your ear off for hours about it but it be brief, it's a phenomenal car. My brother has a 17 STi and while its definitely quick, I don't feel like it's fast. It's a fast car that feels slow... The Type R is a fast car that feels fast.

Imagine if something is wrong with BMW . In USA if you come to the BMW diler and say :" good mourning , I do have a problems with my car .............." and you are not protected with waranty it will cost you 1000$ at list , and than will see how many $$$$$$$$ will bi after that . Honda engine is very close to perfect and all you have to do is regular maintenance ( oil, filters) and be vary patient after you start engine , never go with high RPM at cold engine. Once you warm up engine , you can not do nothing to this. My exp with two Hondas ( Civic's , for 20 yrs ) , about 500000+ miles ( 800000 km + ) , did not have one single problem . Regular maintenance and , run , run , run ............. The best engines ever made . About 10 yrs ago my good friend sad something like that :" Imagine if you will put Honda engine in BMW body , it will run for next 50 yrs without problems " . Very possible . I personaly think that BMW makes the best bodies , and Honda has the best engines . But , than what car mechanics will do than . Just change oil, tires , brakes and filters . No more fun with mechanics . But if you compare price and what you get for your money , than Honda is a far ahead BMW .

He wanted the BMW to win so drove ragged to mske sure it beat the type r as he knew he didnlt put that much effort when he set the time on the CTR. You can see he wasn't really trying on the CTR. IF they were hinest they;d do three runs on each aach and really drive to the potential of ezch ca for this track, pretty sure the CTR would have won..

But my point was that the Type R is a much better track car for value of money. Like I said, the Type R is 30k CHEAPER than the M2, and only has 0.9s difference on the track. All I care about is track times in this case. And the Type R is so much better than the M2 because I don't have to spend as much money for the same/more performance. Of course you could spend an extra 20k on the M2 and destroy Ferrari's/Porsche's whatever. But that amounts to TWO Type R's. I ain't rich, the Type R is already out of my budget so this is all "realistic hypothetical"

A regular m would be almost dead even with a civic. Oh thank God in heaven we live nowdays.

We are at a time when buying premium brands is not really worth it. Look at the Kia stinger and the genesis brand. Even the stuff like Acura -Infinity and the like are not that much better than lower priced cars. We thought we wanted a60k red sport Infinity. We test drove and were so unimpressed. Look at interior of a Mazda CX-9 compared to a bmw. There is not 20 k dif and does not drive much better if at all . I think that manufacturing techniques are so close nowdays that the brands are becoming irrelevant.Not sure if this holds water for the American brands but my wife’s n2015 sho went 160 k with no promblems and was a nice car.
