It has been just over a year since Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat gave his iconic speech about the "East Coast plan" ahead of GE2020.
"For our East Coast residents, we also have a plan for the East Coast. We have a... East Coast... Singapore... we have a together... at East Coast plan. We care at East Coast," said Mr Heng.
The Nomination Day on 30 June last year saw the revelation of a surprise face-off in East Coast GRC - a battle between Mr Heng from the People's Action Party (PAP) and Nicole Seah who made a comeback as a member of the Workers' Party (WP).
Apart from Ms Seah, the WP team included Kenneth Foo, Dylan Ng, Terence Tan, and Abdul Shariff Aboo Kassim. They contested against the PAP team comprising Mr Heng, Maliki Osman, Cheryl Chan, Jessica Tan, and newcomer Tan Kiat How.
PAP narrowly retained East Coast GRC with 53.4% of the votes.
Coming back to Mr Heng's speech fumble, many Singaporeans today are still wondering what exactly is the "East Coast plan".
