Because of James and another German skin care influencer I learnt (at the age of 33) that’s it’s ok to have acne. I suffer from super bad acne since my teenage years (face, neck, back) and often got bullied because of it. I went into treatment because nothing would help. A year ago I changed my entire skin routine and now I don’t mind a pimple anymore. It’s me. It’s my skin and I actually love it 🖤

It still infuriates me to see those "whitening" or downright bleaching creams promoted where I live. It's so weird that young girls are lowkey made fun of for having a natural dark skin tone (and not wanting to whiten them); not to mention that most people bullying others seem to have similar skintones, they just happen to lather thrmselves in foundation that are like 5 shades too light ://

Back in the 70s Denorex shampoo coined the phrase, "the tingle means it's working." I think people have carried that into every skin and hair product. So baking soda + anything=tingle. So it must mean it's working. ❤️👍

That's SO true. I have a ton of skincare stuff that has a tingle when I use it and as far as ingredients its usually some unneeded one, just there for the tingle only. Other ones the box says oh you might feel a tingling or a warming feeling that means its working... and it deff makes me buy it and makes me feel like it's more powerful. Even rationally I know it's not buuuuuuut... I still buy it lol

Lol i guess having tons of knowledge is better than none. Atleast now people with lots of skin problems have more access to info unlike back then where we can only get info from old fashioned ads, word of mouth, or expensive dermatologists. When I was a teen I have sensitive dry skin, even cetaphil is harsh for me. But i can see my mom's struggle, and expenses, on finding the right product for her very oily, acne prone skin. Nowadays it's so easy to find what's right for you unlike back then. Anyway, i hope teens today understand that you dont have to do all of these skin care routine. A double cleanse would probably kill my sensitive skin back then lol.

It looks like they could have put fake tan on the other side and put nothing on the soap side, as you'll notice the clips start when the skin already looks white and there's no runoff of dark product in the water/suds. Otherwise, the fake tan would stain the skin being washed even if they didn't wait long to start washing, making it not look as dramatic.

IIRC, Labmuffin had a video about the toothpaste thing for blemishes. Apparently, it started because the white paste type used to contain an ingredient with antibacterial properties and the paste itself would help dry out spots. However, only one brand still uses this ingredient, and gel toothpaste doesn't dry out the same way and has other ingredients that are really harsh on the skin. So, it's pointless and counter-productive. 😕

Cleanest pores possible.

I believe the toothpaste trick stems from the time when triclosan, an antibacterial, was added to toothpastes. And it makes sense to use an antibacterial on your spots. But other than that, I do not recommend this mix. It dries out your skin and will probably give you more pimples and blackheads in the long run. I remember using this "emerald" peel off mask my mother in law gave me in a self-care package. I had this mental image of me looking like a spa queen who would then peel off the mask to reveal the beautiful glowing skin of a goddess...instead I spent 15 minutes in front of my bathroom mirror whimpering as small strips of mask clung to my skin, reluctant to be parted with my face. My skin looked clearer, but that's probably because I almost ripped the shit off my skull. I wish that I had thought about using water to help. Idk why I didn't. Probably in shock. At least the mask was pretty.

You can get a lot of good skin makeup, dermablend is the traditional one it's very thick but blends out and is waterproof etc. Vitamin E oil is also great for helping to heal scars, bio oil is a common brand. Also eating protein and staying hydrated and well fed in general gives the body the building blocks it needs to heal. Your poor friend ❤ I had burns on my inner thigh and crotch nine years ago and I got lucky and only have one small area of scarring the rest was mildly discoloured but that's gone now. Time is the main thing for scar healing, but those are the best tips I have xxx

@ 7:45 Thank you so much for mentioning about blurred skin. Once upon a time, I was shown a picture where the person face was blurred of any blemishes and her eyeshadow stood out so much. I said "Did that person put on a filter?." Then these two girls said no that is not a filter. It's like people can't tell what is filtered and what is not filtered anymore. People don't like in reality, but in virtual reality.

Hydrocoll patches do work out way more cost-effective in my experience, mainly because I can cut a $4 hydrocoll patch into about 100 pimple patch squares with some scissors, while the only pimple patches available here are $38 for 20 dots. (I do tend to cut them smaller than the person in the video though, and place them directly over pimples only, it makes the original hydrocoll patch last longer)

The idea of toothpaste and baking soda comes from the idea that baking soda is super "cleansing" and using toothpaste for drying out zits is an old trick from like the 80s (my mom told me to do it when I was like 13 because she did it 😂). So I guess the two ideas came together to produce this. There's a fun fact for you!

I appreciate your comment about seeing people with PERFECT skin in real life. It's completely true. A couple of years ago I saw a girl on the train on my way from work. She was FLAWLESS!!! No pores, blemishes, moles, nothing. Absolutely nothing on her face. Only perfect porcelain skin. No Make up either. I think I stared at her the whole 20 minutes I was on the train. She didn't even look real. I still think of her from time to time and just think WTF. She was a pretty girl but her perfectness made her look... I don't even know. Kinda off, if that makes sense. Weird in a way. And I think she was aware of people staring at her face. I hope she has the confidence to deal with that.
