Just run it at 3” and strap it to pull it into place. That’s what allows you to square the structure up

Crown up. You should always establish your own lines. Like your doing a post and beam with saddle notches. Even on a post framed building or a simple mortise and tenon it makes a huge difference in finally apearence.

Francis Hemeter Thank you. Yes I built the SketchUp 3D model from scratch based on the dimensions from modified paper (PDF) plans I bought from TimberFrameHQ.

Louis Storms how detailed are the plans is it 2d shop drawing PDF or or 3D cad. Worth it?

Francis Hemeter It was definitely worth it to me as a first timer. Plans are 2D. I think they have some samples from plans you can review to see if they fit what you are looking for in terms of detail.
