Our review of the ESPRO Bloom! Follow along with Griffin as he brings you through the steps of brewing with the ESPRO Bloom and shares his thoughts on how this compares to the Hario V60.
Brewing the same coffee can produce very different results when brewed using different methods, such as the Hario V60 or the ESPRO Bloom. In this video we compare the two and how the coffee differs in taste once brewed and which method we preferred to use.

I’ve been using the Bloom for a few weeks, myself, and have a couple of thoughts: 1. Instead of circling the edges to pre-wet, I pour from my carafe directly into the bottom of the brewer to prevent the paper from collapsing. Works great. 2. For a 20/320 recipe, you might want a longer brew time of, say, 2:15-2:30 which would require a slightly finer grind, perhaps pulling more sweetness forward and improving the body. I believe that Espro’s 2:00 brew time is based on a much smaller dose.

I echo what John said about wetting paper filter. What I have done is use tap water to wet the filter in the center. THEN I pour hot water in circles to warm the cup/decanter and the Espro Bloom (the filter usually doesn't wilt inwards after the tap water pre-wet). Hope that makes sense!

When I drink my coffee I, well drink it. I do not slurp it because if I was in a restaurant slurping people would be looking at me making that noise thinking I had broke wind. What I am saying is if I have to slurp just to decide if I like it or taste a flavor..... let me be nice and say I can drink it and decide pretty quickly.

Hi, in the video, what size Hario server are you using to brew? It looks like 03 for the brewing, and later serving in an 02 (I'm trying to decide between the 02 and 03 for purchase). Thanks!
