When i push the coffee into a volcano shape, i dont get dry spots in the ground coffee (better extraction). I also add strong tea to the ground coffee and get "dirty chai" like results! Yum. Thanks for the video! (Also the extra filter paper did not work for me.)

Seeing the flavor wheel was insightful as my favorite coffee notes are all together between and including Brown Sugar and Pepper, with Dark Chocolate being my favorite.

A couple hints for the filter paper: 1) cut a single straight line from edge to center and overlap slightly, and it will fit just fine. Faster and simpler; 2) take the rubber portion off the plunger, "stick" the wet filter on it, and use that to place the filter on top of the coffee (the filter shouldn't be too wet, or it won't release from the plunger when it touches the grounds).

Also (only a little sorry about being pedantic): it isn't like percolation, it *is* percolation.

Great recipe! Similar to Lance Hedrik's but you nail it prior to him. Lance's recipe has blooming of 1 ~ 2 minutes however.

Hi, in the video, what size Hario server are you using to brew? It looks like 03 for the brewing, and later serving in an 02 (I'm trying to decide between the 02 and 03 for purchase). Thanks!

It's nice I have to admit and it brews well but if I had to buy only 1 brewer I would go for the Hario Switch. But as a coffee geek I of course do not have just one or two or three brewers I have way too many lol.

It’s wild to me how many great coffee channels there are with incredibly detailed recipes that aren’t getting much traction as far as views! Anyway really enjoyed this and am just learning how to make a proper coffee after years of K Cups 🤣

Is this 155 or 185? My 155 always gets stuck when brewing >20g coffee.
@klarinetta2 жыл бұрын
I have the opposite problem. My 155 steel tend to rush through so I bought a 185 ceramic and I get much slower and better result. Then again the problem with Kalita is that there is so much inconsistency from dripper to dripper. I have 2 155 steel ones and they have different deepness/thickness of the cross and at the bottom one have the holes like pushed in and the other pushed out. Then I took a look at the Ceramic 185 vs 155 and 185 steel cones at a cafe yesterday and the cross in the bottom is of very different thickness. No wonder the Ceramic dripper drips slower.

Why don't you just buy a plastic base which has ridges? Maybe it doesn't look as good but it sure is far more usable :D

When I drink my coffee I, well drink it. I do not slurp it because if I was in a restaurant slurping people would be looking at me making that noise thinking I had broke wind. What I am saying is if I have to slurp just to decide if I like it or taste a flavor..... let me be nice and say I can drink it and decide pretty quickly.

I've been playing with this for the past year or so and it makes INCREDIBLE cold brew... when I can get it to work. Often times I found it really hard to keep the flow rate steady. The hole in the cap either stops the dripping completely or picks up a pace and floods the aeropress. I still haven't found a good consistent way to make it work every time. I have to crack this for summer 2021!

Great video! I've been doing this method for years and it works really well. Although as it's me I simply HAD to be extra and I do it with a Trinity One instead of an Aeropress!
