All I hope that one day we all will have a medicines to regenerate cell to recover natural hearing loss. Hearing aids sometime is difficult to adjust.

Dr. Cliff, Years ago your videos started an audiological research journey which led me to taking several audiology courses, firing my AuD who wasn’t following best practices and finding someone who was, and also to realizing I was a CI candidate and participating in a research study at Vanderbilt for my CI. It has been literally life changing and has given me so much independence which, at 31 now, I didn’t have throughout my 20’s. Your educational content really helped me in my journey. Thank you!

I'd been using hearing aids for 12 or so years and not understanding conversations at all. I'm a tad over 60yo, bilateral deafness(air and bone similar too, reason genetic), raging tinnitus, and now finally an APD diagnosis. I took it upon myself to try for a cochlear implant in desperation, but I was in the 55dB - 65dB range across frequencies, and the word test didn't reflect harder true to life scenarios, so I passed it. Recommendation: higher technology hearing aids. I got premium level 7ax hearing aids and a wonderful new audiologist, streamline tv device blasting into my ears from my tv and phone, and soon my PC, and now for the first time in my life I am watching tv without subtitles and mostly understanding it, and not deafening my partner with the TV volume. I'd given up hope, and depressed about it all, but looking up now.

Interesting video. My word recognition scores are fairly high. I only know one person who has cochlear implants and her word recognition score was the lowest her doctor had seen at that time. It’s pretty amazing how treating a hearing loss can be life changing.

I was worried that I might need an implant but my Audiologists Sharon in Elkhart Indiana who is on your Hearing Up list fitted me with Phonak Lumity aids with a C shell and it was totally worth the 2 hour drive! Thanks Dr Cliff for your recommendation through Hearing Up.

Sucky part of hearing aids is living in a small rural town where it take 6-8 weeks to get an audiology appointment to purchase them or get adjustments. Companies like Starkey and Oticon need to start selling and support these devices. My Audiologist offers 45 day trial period, but trying to get in to fine turn them before 45 days is up is impossible.

Hi, thank you for these great videos. What is the frequency range of the hearing aids? Do the in ear provide better audio range for music steaming? I have a friend who has Signia 7X and he says that there no bass at all and that music seems to be coming from a small tunnel. Can you help please?

Your videos make me, and maybe everyone else have the desire to take charge of their audiologist lol😂 I feel like im starting to take charge of my audiologist because you state what needs to be done.. but most of the time, my audiologist knows what they’re doing but still 😂

What is someone is not a candidate for a CI but have had zero luck with hearing aids? then what??

I'd love to give up hearing aids, but I'd put up with glasses. Being able to hear properly would be life changer.

I’m definitely a candidate for over 10 years BUT I am very frustrated with some technology nowadays. Always “Updates and Whatever “ Also I am very tech savvy and not a country bumpkin.

I have an added problem. My ears don’t pop any more making my hearing worse. Is there anything I can do about that?
