This is episode #7 my TV show, The Tim Ferriss Experiment! The show is like MythBusters meets Jason Bourne. In every episode, I partner with the world’s best and most unorthodox teachers (e.g., Laird Hamilton, Marcelo Garcia, Stewart Copeland), who train me for a final gauntlet. Shocking breakthroughs, injuries, epiphanies, and disasters are all part of the journey. Along the way, I show you how to replicate results in an attempt to prove that “you don’t need to be superhuman to get superhuman results… you just need a better toolkit.”
I’ll be releasing all episodes of my TV show, The Tim Ferriss Experiment, on KZfaq- for free. It was a maze to secure the rights, but now it’s done.
Make sure to subscribe to my KZfaq channel to get notified of all upcoming episodes.
Enjoy!
Tim Ferriss is one of Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Business People” and an early-stage tech investor/advisor in Uber, Facebook, Twitter, Shopify, Duolingo, Alibaba, and 50+ other companies. He is also the author of five #1 New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestsellers: The 4-Hour Workweek, The 4-Hour Body, The 4-Hour Chef, Tools of Titans and Tribe of Mentors. The Observer and other media have named him “the Oprah of audio” due to the influence of his podcast, The Tim Ferriss Show, which has exceeded 900 million downloads and been selected for “Best of Apple Podcasts” three years running.

When iwas in my 20s i gave a freind a lift to a party in my car he spoke these words to me "im gonna get myself a woman tonight what about you?" It seemed abit nieve to think that way as i hardly knew anyone there . When we sat down at the party he filled a jug of beer and we sat down at an emty table an surveyed the people, as you do. After a few drinks i got up and started chating to some blokes my age and left him to his drinking . A group of girls were chatting togeather and i was agonising trying to overcome my shyness ,it occured to me rather than trying to "get one" perhaps i could see if i could just talk to every woman at the party for fun and see what happened. This attitude was a huge breakthrough for me, i was married within the year. I still do that at parties,im still with my first wife 40 years later. Not every attempt at conversation is succesfull but freindship is somthing to practice. Who wants to be got anyway ?

I remember years ago (1997), I met a woman who contacted me after I wrote her though a single column in a UK biker magazine. We chatted for over 6 hours on the phone and I had no idea what she looked like. When I met her, she was okay, but her personality was amazing and we hit it off straight away. It was very intense but when you have that chemistry with someone, looks really don't matter that much. When she broke up with me I felt destroyed.

I enjoyed the video, but as a European woman, it does not make any sense to me to invite your 3 crushes at the same event. In France, women would walk away because it would be considered as really disrespectul. This is not a job interview; you want to see if you vibe with the person, and how can you really be yourself, relax and flirt a little if all your competitors are in the same room? This is really capitalism applied to dating, where emotions and people become commodities. Also, I think that if you're obsessed with a certain type of rib cage, the matchmaker has to explain to you that it shouldn"t be a criteria to identify your soulmate. A friend was asking me why dating was hard in the US. (I live on the East Coast). I told her that most American men were paralysed in front of women and did not know how to approach them. She couldn't believe it! Finally, since the audience of this channel seems to focus on science rather emotions or intuition, I recommend the book "How not to die alone", by Logan Ury. thanks for readying!
@Daviddaze

It's the creativity that Tim delivers the efficiency. He brought science for the logical types. Men tend to try to fix everything , in relationships also , instead of confident social interaction. I've seen women bring her men friends together so who will fight for her. This bar scene too crowded, not enuff one-to-one. That's a good book rec.

Bonjour Leila. Crazy how men got paralyzed by #metoo and #balancetonporc. Charm and frankness open arms and heart. Fully agree on focusing on science rather than emotions. Next episode might be something like how to beat AI on the dating field. Surprized you'd recommend Logan Ury's book. She sounds like her strategy execution was developed at harvard business school. Aucune humanité. So no space for butterflies, again. Looks we, european , have a competitive advantage😀. Une bonne soirée à vous. B.

I respect that he wants to keep his opinions on the dates close to his chest, as to not insult any of the ones he didn’t choose. But I think from what little we saw, he had the most connection with the farmers market lady. Also, I think there’s an element where he feels the most rewarded by that interaction because he risked the most and therefore accomplished the most with her. (I swear you could tell a change in his demeanor after that. He was more confident.) I would think that interaction as their initial meeting will lead to more attraction (from both parties) than the other ones

I've learned there is no need for any pickup tricks. And that the base mindset of pickup of "learning to pick up women" stems from a need to be validated by the opposite sex. the only way forward is to realize you don't need this validation, otherwise you're "dependent" on fishing for women's attention Instead, you talk to a person, and listen, and you do not have "strategy" or use "tricks" because there is no agenda but to be aware of the other person in the present

*FERRIS MASTERY: Although, I have learned a lot from Tim over the years I fear the focus of this particular experiment falls short, because yes, knowing how to **_attract_** a mate is important, but "picking up" (dating) a person good for you is truly a mine field without the ability to quickly screen out "deal breakers" and decipher potential compatibility within an initial short conversation. I have mastered how to read body language, micro expressions, verbal cues, and use calibrated questions designed to covertly expose their true self within one 5-10min casual conversation while establishing rapport and drawing them. So trust me when I say, I had to master this for work and now strangers I interact with have no clue what I'm doing and may not understand why I didn't call them back after all.* *Great video! I love the tech intro. Strong first step toward all I shared above. I'm excited about Tim's series.* *Liberty = Peace & I pray we always enjoy both!*

There’s a new generation that has a different experience of dating and Tim Ferris took on the role of the fool and was vulnerable putting himself in a position to learn and take in advice from other men ( experts ) on the subject , in front of us, so we can learn how to navigate the field of dating, that’s what they are talking about. Women could play the field and definitely do in todays modern world, although it’s probably not in their best interest.

BTW I had read here and there some tips and followed this strategy: 1. have at least one black and white photo; 2. for men - look at the camera and smile with no teeth, for women - look away from the camera and smile with teeth, 3. have at least one full body photo (duh), 4. have a photo wearing red (red dress for example). But guess what, I'm a woman and everyone swipes on me. It doesn't get really easier to assess potential real life dates, and I think these tricks are mainly for men. Men actually don't put any effort in their profiles, I notice. If I see someone with zero stuff written, I swipe away. Potentially not being able to write.
@MakeYouFeelBetterNow

It goes the other way too, if you write more than a sentence or two, you lose most women. Maybe the best approach is just be yourself.

@@MakeYouFeelBetterNow really? I am not sure but I'm judging from my own opinion only, can't find enough women to ask. If I see more than one sentence, I think someone has put in the time to write something. Perhaps more important is what it says, one or more sentences.

I am totally blown away that Tim is anxious about approaching women, with his money, status, skills. I thought I would be doing better with all that stuff but I'm doing already doing quite well, I guess approaching women effectively is a skill independent of anything else. For those interested, Todd V has a lot to teach on the subject.

Screams: recipe for disaster. I currently try to do counter-corruption and it’s so rampant online and it’s of course happening on dating platforms. Basically there’s a profile with one woman, same person, 9 profiles so far and each profile is photo verified. And yet the dating page pretends to be stupid. But i mean, who didn’t hear the shot during the previous 4 years, maybe never will, regarding corruption and a need for fundamental change, yet noone’s willing to pay up… such as investing 10 bucks a year to make a difference towards a merit-based economy. Better hodl that one bitcoin and wait for doomsday when it will be worth 1 million, but we’ll also live in zombie world, when this “target is reached”, if we aren’t already. Sorry if it’s hard to follow what i try to say, english is only my second language.

I'm a big Tim Ferris fan, but a lot of his first steps seem "cringey" enough to not be repeatable. For example, the first step to dating being to consult a hacker who was previously banned by the feds.. Geez, that's romantic. All in the name of data collection 😆
