Out of curiousity, how many miles did you go on this original nylon set? Were all the nylon covered teeth still there?

I can't tell you how long this was installed as it was this way when I got the car about 7 years ago. I am the 2nd owner and I'm guessing the other Owen may have changed the gears once before. The nylon gears looked great actually. However the chain was too loose to avoid not changing it out. Thanks for watching ! J

I'll give the chain a drizzle of oil just prior to putting the timing cover back on....which will be soon. J

Thanks for the video. I'm replacing my timing chain set on my '70 Corvette. Did you leave the plugs in or pull them out to make it easier to turn the crank?

Thanks for watching . I didn't need to take my plugs out at all and was able to easily turn the crank enough to do this job. I hope your goes as well as mine did. J

Hi there, Really enjoying the series on timing gears. For the lower sprocket, would you happen to have the manufacturer and part number? I am looking for a puller but due to clearance between sprocket and engine. Thanks again!

@@Motorcycology thanks for the reply and no worries if you don't remember. Today I was actually able to remove the lower sprocket for my 1957 Oldsmobile. Using your videos for point of reference and really appreciate how you take the time to explain in detail! Great work!

I'm not sure. I just wanted to ensure that the gear was seated as much as possible and that way the chain is perfectly vertical from the large gear to the small gear. Good luck with your projects and thanks for watching. J

I believe the chain will wear out badly if not aligned: too much "offset" friction.
