Very informative, thank you. I purchased an AM Hydro system and I am having issues with algae growing on top of the horticube. PH and water temperature are good- water reservoir is protected from the light too. How do you prevent algae from growing in your system? Thanks
@AmericanHydroponics

Algae growth in hydroponic systems is almost impossible to eliminate unless all water surfaces are protected from sunlight. The algae that forms on the top of the cubes does not affect plant growth. Once the seedlings get large enough and are moved to the nursery channel, there is no more light exposure to the cube and the algae growth cycle stops. If your seedlings are not ready to transplant to system in 14 to 16 days, it might be a variety issue or old seeds - something is "off" in your propagation system (cubes are too wet for example). You do not want your propagation cube soaked all the time and you do not want them to dry out... right in the middle.

Oasis Cubes. They have them on the website at www.amhydro.com so far the best deal for bulk pricing I have found.

i couldnt hear it clearly, but after the fresh water, does the nutrient addition start in the propagation tray (full strength?) ?
@AmericanHydroponics
@AmericanHydroponics 4 жыл бұрын
During the irrigation cycle, there is a mild concentration of nutrient at 0.6 EC

Question, do you have heat mat on that propagation table, because I'm seeing plain plywood only?
@AmericanHydroponics
@AmericanHydroponics 4 жыл бұрын
That was in 2017 during the fall. Heat mats were added when it got colder.

@@jamesramos815 We do not have a digital platform like that. The best way to learn is to purchase a small system and go through the learning curve. No tutorials or classes can compare to actually doing it. We also have a seminar coming up in October 22nd and 23rd. We had to cancel our June one due to Covid-19. amhydro.com/seminar/

I've been looking for a while to get oasis cubes in bulk supply, but all I find is small 50pc sheets costing $20 each. That's way too expensive for growing 5,000+ plants. Do you have a bulk supplier, or how do you go about this?
@AmericanHydroponics
@AmericanHydroponics 3 жыл бұрын
What size cubes are you looking for? We sell them per case or pallet. For example the 1" thin cut is $99.95 per case. Its about $5 per sheet (20 sheets per case).

you need to make shorter video segments with specific titles, and use a better camera; get a microphone and maybe a gimbal for those shaky hands. this video will get little attention in its current form despite having a knowledgeable host with good presentation.

Hi! I would just like to know if the heatmat is 24hrs a day? And do you use the heatmat only for germinating seeds? once seed has germinated, does it still need heatmat? Thanks!
@AmericanHydroponics
@AmericanHydroponics 4 жыл бұрын
Yes. Heat Mats stay on 24/7. In a prop system there are usually multiple stages of seed production so the heat mats are on all the time. After germination, the heats helps stimulate root growth.

@@AmericanHydroponics Thanks for your reply! I do have one last question, do you clean out / sanitize your channels/system once in a while? If so, how do you do it? Do you stop the whole system? what about the plants that are currently in it? Thank you so much for helping me out!

This depends on a few factors. Were we are, water temperature does not get warm enough to treat the reservoir and channels with H2O2 or O3. When water is warm (above 85º), the temperature reduces the amount oxygen saturation that water can hold and anaerobic bacteria can develop. If this occurs, roots can get damaged pretty quickly (brown and mushy roots is a for sure sign of pythium for example) and the system will have to be treated with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) or with an ozone system (O3). Both of these treatments are not biased and will destroy the beneficial bacteria cultures also but necessary if you can't keep your water cool. 68º to 73º degrees fahrenheit is ideal (20º to 23ºc). These treatments happen when the system is running and in production.

@@AmericanHydroponics I see! So to clarify if water can stay cool, it may be safe to just swap out the reservoir water after cycle (no need for H2O2)? Will putting a cold iced water (in bottle) in the reservoir every day help? Thank you so much for taking your time in answering my queries.
@AmericanHydroponics
@AmericanHydroponics 4 жыл бұрын
Correct. However H2O2 can be used as a preventative also. Ice bottle depends on size of reservoir I presume. Can imagine it would pull much heat out of a body of water. Chiller is most effective but $$. In warm climates, the larger the body of water the better. If you have more questions, please email us at info@amhydro.com. Good luck.
