Why was the dish named pen ? The creator n its fans were n are thinking TOO HIGH & TOO PROUD about themselves. Calling other ppl pen blatantly

Hehehe. Pen doesn’t meant stupid. Pen Cai means vegetables in a basin. Wen Tianxiang, a general at the end of the Song Dynasty, was leading his subordinates when they were hunted down by Yuan soldiers. They fled to what is now Shenzhen (Dongguan at the time) after crossing Lingdingyang. At that time, it was already late when Wen Tianxiang reached the destination, and the troops only had rice cakes they brought with them and lacked dishes. The boatmen sympathized with them so they used the pork, radishes, and freshly caught fish and shrimps they had in their own reserves to cook something up for the soldiers. There were not so many plates on the boat, so they had to serve cooked food in wooden basins.
