It gets very complicated with Blood Omen 2, the main story is the memories that Kain sees after saving Raziel from the reaver blade in Soul Reaver 2. But the interactions with Janos and the finale of that game take place after the end of Defiance.

This series pretty much defines aggravated time travel abuse.

@@zacharyhawley1693 oddly enough i'd disagree, Legacy of kain is one series that actually does time travel right. it accomplishes this by enforcing very strict rules on what can be changed and by making the act of changing history very difficult and a significant point of the plot. this prevents the follies of inconsistency other time travel plots have by applying Novikov's self consistency principle, aka "if you went back in time, its because you always were meant ot go back and the events are accounting for your trip back."

Not a remake, only a full remaster in HD. There's no replacement for the original voice actors that would measure up.

@@Batman_83 Like Vampires, who Live Eternal, we can not let the Idea of the Universe of Legacy of Kain in fiction stangante, or die out, or be forever limited to one single instance remade over and over, just because of a single Voice Actor. It would definitely be weird without the same voices. But the voices are just one part of the game. Think of everything else they could do GREATLY to make this games unique fiction and lore come to life. Like the Harry Potter Games and Fantastic Beasts movie, they can do so many great things and make fun games and great movies without needing Harry and Voldemort as the story theme. I signed the Survey they did a while back about gauging interest in a New Legacy of Kain game and they said they got amazing results showing interest in a few years we will have a new game!!

@@pharaohsmagician8329 I would be ecstatic for a new game. What I meant was redoing the entire series without the elder god just doesn't seem like it would be as good. But an HD remaster followed by a whole new game would be the perfect scenario in my opinion.

My guess is probably to speak with the Elder God, considering that's where he's chilling (but they couldn't see him). Looking at the depictions on the walls it might also be root of the pillars where they started to be built and the seal made, with the Elder God there watching. It may have also served a ritual purpose in healing and caring for the pillars and part of the reason humans couldn't do the job propperly because it could only be accessed with the reaver back when the ancients were still in control and thriving.

LoK follows Nomikov's Self consistency principle, which dictates that if you know of an event, its because it was always meant to happen or at least you know it happened before. aka: " if you went back in time, its because you always did." in the "normal timeline" Kain was supposed ot have died at the hands of Raziel which would in turn ensure that eventually Raziel would be subsumed into the Reaver and become the Spirit inside it and by defying this, Kain was able ot be present ot avert Raziel's fate. as for why raziel has Free will, its because of Causality and History ensuring that he cannot perish before becoming the Spirit of the Reaver: when RAziel was executed at the abyss History had to resolve the potential paradox, and the soultion was to exel Raziel from the cycle of Life and Death. This means as Raziel became a wraith(the Elder god did NOT do it, Causality did) he was now exempt from the wheel of fate and therefore was the only creature in nosgoth that truly had free will. Kain being there to pull the reaver out of him at the end of Sr2 didnt free RAziel, it only postponed the point where he would be absorbed buying both of them enough time to potentially resolve the dilemma in a way where both ofthem could live.

It was definitely rough, but I could see the potential they were going for. I feel like they were heavily limited by the hardware at the time.
