That was a great review Andy. Thanks! I'm an industrial electronics tech & have a piece of advice. Open up your electronic welders & plasma cutters. Get info from the cooling fans and buy spares. Check them periodically for end play and bearings. Replace them before failure. Much cheaper than transistors. Best brand is Comair-Rotron.

Excellent comparison and HF is for one offs or in a pinch for sure. Daily and reliable, stick with the proven unit can't go wrong. The HF could be a lifesaver when it is snowing and there is nothing else around. Thank you for sharing, I learned a lot.

always buy a name brand like miller, lincoln ,i have a therama dynamics cut master 100 cuts up to 1 inch steel, can cut 1 1/4 " shear , brought in the late 80s still working as it came out the box, you need a air line filter/dryer on it so it last longer & cuts better

That was interesting to see . We use a few cheap cutters on our service trucks that cut up to 35mm without any real holdback . I am sure they were under 1000€ . I believe they are made in Poland . Handy to have where the acetylene torch is too brutal .

For me I'll keep my old one . Served me well for 24 years. I don't understand why you can't find a new one I checked with my supplier and they have 10 in stock. Oxygen Service Company, St. Paul Minnesota. Now the was two weeks ago. You can also check to see if your supplier has any rental units for sale. They are one or two years old and usually sell at a good discount. That's where my wire feed welder came from. Miller 225 amp. For $1200.

Thanks for the review, Andy. Their sure is a lot of things breaking down. You know it doesn’t make a bit of difference about what you buy, you can always count on one thing and that is it’s going to fail on you when you need it. You then get to enjoy the privilege of throwing it in the garbage or the scrap bin. This gives you the opportunity to rebuy and start the cycle all over again. You also can count on that the replacement is going to cost a whole lot more than the old one did. That’s just the way it is. Be careful and stay safe. 😀

Thanks for making this video, been waiting for it before we bought one, we are allot smaller farm then yours and there is only myself and my two brothers running it as our grandfather is retired and dad is semi retired. I think for what we do the cheaper one would work for us. From watching your videos we went over our chisel plow and discs and both our seed drill and our corn planter and spent $25,000.00 in parts on all of them and that took some explaining to our parents, but $25000.00 on 4 pieces of equipment to put them in new shape is cheaper then buying even a good used one my brother Justin bought a used Steger Cougar 251 and we are in the process of restoring it . I heard they are a good tractor and why my brother wanted it i can not explain except he has always wanted one, we now have two JD tractors, a 5083 with a loader and a 7430 with frt PTO and three point hitch, two Case tractors a Puma 165 and a 185 and reason we bought them was Deere couldn't even come close to matching their price and that was with a new two year old one they had sitting on their lots and so far to me Case is just as good or maybe even better then the Deer's.. We also have a Massey Ferguson 165 whichwas the tractor i learned on and recently got a Kubota track skid steer. We farm 1000 acres in southern Ontario and have black Angus beef cattle. Keep up the good videos on your repairs.

I just bought a Jack&Dave Plasma Cutter CUT50D Real 50 Amps 110V/220V Dual Voltage DC Inverter IGBT Non-Touch Pilot Arc Cutting Machine Clean Cut which another guy I work with bought and it came labeled as a Cut 50 w/o the Df for only $182 on Amazon. Will let you know if it was worth the money or not. One guy on Amazon wrote that he was Cutting 3/16 & setting power at 30A and air at 80 psi and great results cutting 1" holes.

Andy, I am actually a sales representative for the welding supplier from where you get your gas from. And unfortunately Hypertherm is seeing shipping delays. Hopefully this gets better soon. You can't go wrong with either the 45xp or the 65. Have a good one!!!! Hypertherm warranty, 3years on power source. 1 year on torch. The HF gun looks very similar to thermal dynamics consumables, not saying they are a exact match though!

3 year warranty on the Hypertherm. The 45XP is a 5/8 rated(20" per minute) and will sever 1-1/8". The 45XP will also gouge and will accept flushcut consumables. If you can ever demo one you will be impressed. The HF torch is likely a copy of a Trafimet. Consumables would likely be best sourced from HF. Now I see why I thought you got a new machine, you have replaced the 800s torch with a Duramax replacement torch.

It’s been my experience that if you look in the back of the manual you get with some HF products it will show if replacement parts are available. I haven’t brought any big HF units such as a plasma cutter, but the angle grinders, bench grinders etc. do have some replacement parts available. HF seems to be offering better quality products in some of their tool lines.

The newer one worked better on the 220, 110 seemed like more heat was transferred to the piece being cut and you had some warping going on. The pro is it speeds cutting/production, the con is you can't use it to apply heat.

Good review, honestly that harbor freight unit isn’t terrible. Like you said if it’s someone using it heavy in a shop daily its probably not the best route. My brother has a Hypertherm 65 he wants $1,500 bucks for I was thinking about. I have one older Hypertherm that is starting to act flaky as well, looking for a good place to send it out for repair. That’s a good point about parts not being available with the older ones though.
