I'm in this movie! One of the ladies in the mall who gets killed. Woman #2, i'm in the green sweatshirt with the big earrings. :) We shot overnight in a mall in Montreal's South Shore. They definitely had a budget, they had two big teams doing the mall scenes.

I really enjoyed this movie. The visuals and camerawork were amazing, and Ben Mendelsohn is such an intense screen presence. It's much better than "The Little Things" at reviving the 1990s crime thriller genre.

You guys are this century's Siskel & Ebert, you deserve a high end produced show. I truly appreciate your insight on great films like MISANTHROPE. BTW I think changing the name to TCAK was a massive marketing mistake.

This is the one film this year (there may be a few others) that I've seen that *really* surprised me. I watched it for Ben Mendelsohn being cast as a lead and Ralph Innes being somewhere in there. Woodley I mainly recall for that one excellent coming-of-age film. But this is a clever and inspired film. Not your run-of-mill guy-killing-people potboiler who must be caught. Well-acted. Well-staged. It has inertia but not in a stop-start way...the inertia and suspense build to a surprising crescendo that is satisfying. Scenes such as Lammark harping on Eleanor over a belated report add as much gravitas as the electrifying convenience store fracas. It has a thumbs-up amount of forensic detection to go with the weapons-firing action as you'd expect so much of in a film dealing w/ a sniper.

The beginning is fairly gripping, then gradually devolve into typical mediocre mystery, trying to compensate its weak plot with over acting, over dramatizing.

Such bizzare choices in this movie, especially at the end. seems like it was written by a 20 year old female or something who doesnt understand the world. Shainlene miscast, but her entire char made no sense in the movie.

@Scorch4283 ай бұрын
Nothing made any sense. Why didnt he shoot her? Why didnt she duck when she was in his sights?? Why was Shailenes char even in the movie? Why was she a beat cop? Nothing made any sense, but I assume thats cus a very young person wrote it... someone who doesnt quite understand how the world operates yet.

@graphthis2249 Жыл бұрын
@@Jess-Rabbit I did say just okay. Like maybe a 6/10? There was no point in the movie that had me lose interest enough. I enjoyed parts of it and thought it was shot really well. But it is just okay. Nothing amazing or new is brought to the table with this movie. I would not consider it a waste of time by any means. I will give almost any movie an honest shot.

Szifron was closing a project for a movie some years ago. After 'Wild Tales' (2014). It was "The Six Million Dollar Man" movie, with Mark Wahlberg. Unfortunately, it was going to be under The Weinstein Company. Then, Harvey happened... and another studio bought the project. Also creative differences started between them and Szifron. Sadly, it was cancelled. So, he had to start a new project. Good for him he had already "Misántropo", an idea and script he started writing in 2009 in Argentina.
