In this project video I create and test some of the simplest armor ever shown on this channel, in hopes that it will help those in need. Some of these designs would be very easy to build off of and improved upon, given enough time and better materials. However, for simple, cheap and easy armor this stuff is quite impressive I feel. Hopefully this information will serve the Myanmar (burma) people well, as well as others that don't have access to proper gear in tight spots. Plenty of more DIY body armor to come, Three new HDPE videos, New bulletproof glass, a shield video, my attempt at armoring a vehicle, and so much more! make sure to subscribe if you haven't already.

I need something lighter against knife and machete, in my country youngsters have become mad, they quickly pull out a knife when they quarrel, or if by misfortune you cross their way when they are under the influence of drugs and alcohol. I need a light stab-proof vest to wear under my shirt when going to work or when going to see my little boy and his mother who lives in a dangerous area where deadly stabbing happen frequently

@@Techthisoutmeow I was thinking more about this. Maybe using some sort of medium is a container. Personal body size or panel size thick enough to disperse energy. Not sure what would be best. A clay like medium? Water would be a starting point, maybe a thick gelatin? But then a moist clay sounds like it would be helpful if it was a little thicker like play dough? Lots of ideas you know.

Great video, I have a question, I know you said pva glue isn't great for holding the plates together but could it be possible to make a ceramic strike fase with tightbond 3 waterproof Wood glue and sand for example, just saying because that's all the glue I have, I'm wondering if sand held together with wood glue would be able to break up say a 9 mm fmj handgun round with the hdpe backer.
@floridianzach2277
@floridianzach2277 3 жыл бұрын
Unlikely. Check his comments on the homemade composite ceramics where high quality epoxies binding together high quality engineering ceramics had a fraction of an equivalent porcelains performance by weight.
@DavidSmith-vz9uu
@DavidSmith-vz9uu 3 жыл бұрын
@@floridianzach2277 yeah true I did actually see that video but he did show that homemade ceramics did cause fragmentation, but pva glue is just going to be too soft and malleable or ductile to hold the hard sand or boron carbide granules to break up any bullet.

@Techthisoutmeow
@Techthisoutmeow 3 жыл бұрын
I do, I talked about it some later in the video. One of the reasons I try and stay away from steel is because of spall, the nice thing about ceramic is it really doesn't spall bad, and if you have a decent backer it'll catch all of it. Maybe I can do a full video on my ballistic testing and standards, I try my best to get close to NIJ ratings as possible.

Sir, I have been searching for months for how to make my own body armor against knife and machete with resources only available in my country. stabbings have risen in my country, they are perpetrated by teenagers under the influence of alcohol and drugs. the corrupted police do nothing, more occupated racketing car drivers. I wanted to buy (importing) a stab-proof vest, but it could be considered as an attempt to make a coup, in my dictatorial country. I wanted to use epoxy resin, but it is too expensive in my country. This is what I can get easily: HDPE bottles, plywood panels, denim, aluminum plates
Mixing resin and powder: will it make a bulletproof ceramic?
