When I skated in the airport the security guards and people didn't seem to mind. I even asked on of the employees for directions ( I skated from my apartment to the airport and was trying to find the right terminal to enter in from) and he was cool about it, but he was concerned cause I would need to go up the escalator and I was like oh! don't worry about it and followed his directions and I think it made his day watching me step up the escalator haha.

Roller skating never ended- it's alive in parks and on roller derby tracks and has been for years.

Chloe Krause not true, skating rinks unfortunately have closed at a rapid rate and continue to do so. Sadly the highest and best use of the land is not a roller rink. Very few rinks left and taxes , insurance and staff to maintain them exceeds the revenue from admission, cafe and pro shop.

Newzchspy she didn’t say rinks, she said skate parks and roller derby tracks, it didn’t end, mainstream media just stop caring about it. People never stopped roller skating they just stopped going to rinks because they wanted to do more than dance in a circle.

Cherubic Seraphim my buddy works at Riedell . It's not near as popular as it once was in the 70s and early 80s. Don't get me wrong, it's the best thing I've ever done and I enjoy it, but now there's few who do it. The closing of skating rinks reflects that. Even roller blading is no longer popular.

yes I remember when I was around 20yrs skating and it was fun I wish there were parks for older people to have a go but they seem to only let younger people now and I would like a place for oldies too

My parents used to Waltz on roller skates in the 1940's & 1950's. They and (most of) their 10 kids all skated, too. I am looking for some good outdoor skates so I can take advantage of a 30 mile long paved trail near our home. FUN!

Ugh! Roller skating has always thrived & been alive among the African-American community. LOVE me some MOXI but I wish people would stop saying that it was dead & is getting revived.

One word: Liquid. Liquid on a smooth floor is lethal. Also it can be hard to see. Now think of the liability problems.

I've realized that I'm pretty naturally talented at roller skating and love it so much! I definitely have to say that the Moxi Girls are a great inspiration. I want roller skates so bad, but cannot afford them. :( :P

we went skating for new years eve and couldnt even get on the floor it was so packed full of people and speed skating young people. i was too nervous to get in that rink so we just skated around on the carpet. it was wonderful to see so many skilled people enjoying skating.

Most people don't know that inline skates are much older than rollerskates: Inline skates were invented 1760 by Josef Merlin (Belgium). Rollerskates were invented 1863 by John Plimpton (USA). Meaning: real old school are inline skates.

Sam Niko they have an online shop, and just opened one in Venice Beach. There Is one on 4th Street in long Beach too

Is no one going to talk about the pros and cons of roller vs inline skating? It should have been the focus of the story. Inline skating is what we're used to though it has been dying slowly over the years. Ironic as the equipment is just improving every year.

Has anyone noticed that up until 2019/2020 the Moxi team has comprised mainly of skinny white girls? It wasn't until Estro was called out that she started including POC and girls with different body shapes other than skinny. I realise Pigeon has been on the team for quite a while, but that's as "chunky" as they got and Pigeon honestly isn't that chunky. Not a slam on Moxi at all, I love the brand. I Just think it's funny how the team wasn't as diverse before the "scandal" as it is now.

@@swilhelm3180 No. Even Rebel (QueerGirlStraightSkates) and Shove (FatGirlHasMoxi), although quite popular within the skating community were not included in the "Moxi team" until last year when Shove started working with them. I've watched LOADS of Moxi videos and have been noticing a very distinct pattern. Just seems sus to me, that's all.
